Old thread from a year ago: Trump rep's DEFENSE of Muslim ban: "No different than when we put Japanese in camps."

Self quoting from that thread. Maybe my prophecy will come true!

Trump in a week "Japanese internment - and listen I love the Japanese people - wasn't even that bad. It wasn't that bad! They were allowed to go to school and play baseball. Baseball, can you believe it?"

We already knew this shit, Trump presidency just going forward as planned. I hope everyone who voted for him is happy with their decision. Nazis fucking disgust me.

They are happy. They defend this stuff and can't understand how it is racist. Literally. I'm a minority and I tell some of them that this is racist, and instead of understanding my viewpoint they try to explain to me how it isn't racist. Like what.

I'm waiting for the people claiming we shouldn't be concerned about proTrump people starting a fascist movement to trickle into this thread.

Distressingly, internment might be legal precedent. The case is Korematsu. But like. The government paid reparations and formally apologized for internment multiple times.

Filthy to cite internment as anything but a deep national shame tho.

Terrifying. Where do we go to make our voices heard against this? I called my House rep the other day to speak out against Bannon but I dont even know where to start with this.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 1:

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

To support this must either A) know nothing about Japanese internment camps other than the Japanese were part of the Axis powers, we put them in camps, & the war ended so it worked or B) you just fucking despise anyone who doesn't look like you and putting them in camps is the best way to take them out of your sight. Likely both. There's no niceties to spare. The people who voted for him should be ashamed if they have even an ounce of empathy for other people and better be the first people opening their pockets or lining up in the streets to make sure this stops at the surrogate's insane and dangerous suggestion. Go ahead and tell me I'm being unfair and close minded but I have no problem saying you're a monster if you voted for Trump and do nothing about this.

these are the tests ladies and gentlemen. they will continue to ever so gradually test us until we come to our own desensitized conclusions.

Laughing at the ridiculousness of this right now. How anybody with any mental acuity at all can justify their beliefs with this twisted logic is beyond comprehensible.

All this because of someone's religion.

These people want to punish American citizens for acts they had nothing to do with because all Muslims are "bad".

The fact that my brain is telling me that the media will not cover this in depth like they should is pissing me off.

I've lived all along the East Coast my whole life and I have never once heard someone call soda 'pop'. Is this like a Chicago thing or what?

We're talking about a guy that openly supported waterboarding/torture.
So people expecting his supporters to turn on him because of this should drop those expectations.

Added it to the OP, but posting here at the tail also:

Hey all - one relatively easy positive thing to oppose this would be donating to the ACLU; they're going to be really busy once Trump's inaugurated:

Hmm where is Trump supporter now? I know for sure you guys reading this.

They're reading, they're just not answering because they know they fucked people (and more than likely don't give a single fuck that they did). Next thread where someone suggest that they fucked up voting for the orange bastard without any of this obviously horrid context, they'll show back up to justify themselves.
