No update on the December patch. 1.02 did go live a few hours ago. I bought digital so no idea if it improves framepacing.

What is it installing seperatly? Has any other game ever done this?

Edit: A quick test in the Free Combat thing while installing doesn't feel any different from the last demo in terms of frame pacing on the Pro. Switching to 'lite' mode feels much smoother just like the judgment demo

Yes many games install even after you can load the disc up.

The disc size is 50 Gb and probably the Ps4 didn't completely install the game yet. You saw the install complete message, but that's only the files needed to make the game boot.

The disc has been in for hours while the patch downloads. Anyway I've never seen it before and it's frustrating, if I've been lucky enough not to encounter it before then I'm glad but I've played plenty of games this gen and not seen it before. Still if it's in other games I didn't know that. Install from disc > download patch > install from main menu is crazy. Hope I never see it again then

So I just received my preorder code from Amazon by customer service through email for the road trip thing. It was a 12 digit code and when I tried submitting it, it said it was invalid.

Does anyone know who to contact to get the right code? I already finished all the quests lol.

The code might not become valid until the game launches tomorrow. That happened to me on PSN once. I thought a code I had didn't work but I just tried it too early.

Expecting a bloodbath in the review topic. Not so much terrible reviews, just people not being able to handle 7 and 8s out of 10. Set your expectations realistically, this is modern day Square.

Oh so the road trip code amazon sent me is the same code I'd use to input for tomorrow on psn? Cause all I was doing was submitting the code through the road trip website and it said it was invalid lol.

Yeah people expecting plenty of 9s and maybe even 10s don't have realistic expectations, they will only get disappointed.

Lol, yeah. I expect to see 80-85's review scores after reading a lot of peoples impressions. I'm sure there will be a 7.5 in there that will make everyone freakout.

Well, I don't know for sure so take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm just saying you should probably wait until tomorrow and if your code doesn't work then you should contact Amazon.

Is your code formatted like this: 0000-0000-0000
If so, that's a PSN code.

They changed the name of the Battle Report stats too. Time, Finesse and Offense now. Stealth didn't make any sense so this is good.

Yeah a metacritic of 90+ is probably a dream, so be prepared. The game is going to polarize given the gameplay sounds the best the series has had, but the story sounds hot garbage. Maybe not FF13 levels, but people in general expected much more from 15 since it was shown off as 13 Versus.

That's on them, surely.

There's going to be people that will score it a 6, too, and with good reason.

Personally though, I'd score it an 8 minimum. My time with it so far has been a 9, easy, but I haven't finished it yet.

I'd be surprised if I see a lot of 9's I expect a couple of them, but the majority will be around 7.5 and 8.5

Some Final Fantasy fans need to understand that this is a divisive series and its very unique style means that some people will just be turned off be it. It's never going to be a mainstream critical hit like The Last of Us. The previous entries (including XIII) were released during a time in which games were scored on a 7.5 to 10 scale, it's a little bit different now. If FFXV ends up with a Metacritic average in the 70s, that's perfectly fine with me.

Inserting a random Kingsglavie scene only makes the opening worse in my opinion. Flail around burning city > Random Kingsglavie scene > Push a car > Cindy's butt. I don't see how anyone who hasn't followed the game would have any idea what's going on

Edit: Also Cindy is still the worst, hopefully now I'm playing the game she won't keep showing up anymore

Edit: I'm told it wasn't Kingsglaive, just a random cutscene in the city

I'm guessing it will land in the 82-84 range. I'll say 84 (on either OpenCritic or Meta) for the sake of guessing a specific number.

Edit: I'll bump it up slightly to 84, closer to what I had in the embargo thread
and above FFXIII

That's not a random kingsglaive scene. The scene right before pushing the car is just a cutscene. None of that was part of kingsglaive.
