I think the series needs a comeback mechanic, assists make it too lopsided to whoever gets the first down.

I fully expect assists to be toned down and have more defense mechanics. While the fights shouldn't be as crazy as some of Marvel 2 and 3 were, I think they might come back to the basics of Marvel 1. Or follow up TvsC.

I think it might make the game more fun to be played, but it won't be as fun to watch.

This is exactly what I fear. It never turns out good.

The Vs. series is a staple of the ballistic fighting game since Xmen V SF. The audience should constantly have jaw dropping 'Holy Shit' moments when watching. Balance should never be considered during the initial design process of a fighting game, fun should take priority at all times. NeoG, who designed almost all the combat for the Vs. series said this after leaving Capcom for SNK earlier this year.

Make it awesome, make it fun and make it a 'Holy Shit' spectacle. Don't design a horrifically lopsided game and worry about balance later.

Because fighting games aren't JRPGs. The Xbox has had fighting games on it, so why wouldn't that be the expectation. SFv wasn't even known to be exclusive at launch of the consoles

If Sony is funding it, expect LT exclusivity. No word on that yet though. I had heard that Sony were the ones who signed a deal for a new Versus game, but I don't have specifics.
