I don't think that's the biggest issue.
The issue is logistically people aren't gonna lug around a bunch of PCs for a fan patched Mahvel 3.
Project M was niche but relatively successful for what it was due to the ease of modding Wiis (which were also brought around for Melee/Brawl tourneys), and homebrew being advanced enough that it just loaded the fan patch with an SD card. There isn't a solution similar to this for any of the platforms UMvC3 is on or will be on.

Like I stated above, it's not the same thing. People need to stop thinking fan patches will ever reach the tourney popularity of Project M's peak unless it's logistically easy for tourneys to have it.
If there were an easy way to patch the PS4/Xbox One/360/PS3 versions of Mahvel it may have a shot. And thinking PC tourneys will work for fan patched Mahvel 3 tourneys is just unrealistic.

But people going "OH SHIT THIS WILL BE THE CHANCE FOR A PROJECT M[AHVEL] FOR TOURNEYS" clearly has no idea why Project M was successful in the first place.

Anyway, I'll be double dipping on PS4 now and PC next year. I've always had a lot of fun with MvC1 and 2 offline, so getting destroyed online doesn't really bother me.

I dont think there is precedence for the money hatting of a remaster. It does seem sort of peculiar, but Im guessing this is all Disney was willing to budge for any sort of deal with Sony. Disney wants everyone's money.

It's bad no matter how good your connection is to your opponent. It slows down the game and makes everything feel unresponsive.

When you play online, your button inputs may or may not register
If the game is feeling particularly feisty, it'll force quit and make you watch Superman 4
On topic, bad netcode means generally bad online

FWIW, Marvel 3's netcode doesnt fit this description. I've hit Lightning Loops and Doom infinite online and generally have a good time.

Source: I'm Spanish and think both the cover and the costume are awesome, and a shame the latter was removed.
Everything else that was announced to go up today went up in Europe over two hours ago. Not expecting this to go up today.
