The worst part of 2017 having 5 "brand new" characters is that the obvious picks like Sagat and Sakura get pushed back to 2018 so I'll have to hold out hope that 2019 has someone I want to play.

I mean, there's also a good chance you'll like one of the new characters.

Who are you waiting for?

My top 5 favorite characters are Dudley, Hugo, Q, Eagle and Dan in that order. I figure Dudley, Q, and Dan are pretty good shots but I figured I'd get one of them in 2018 if they did the "obvious" characters in 2017.

I mean, there's also a good chance you'll like one of the new characters.

That's also a possibility. I guess the next best thing is they could just import Steve from Tekken into SFV. Or Slayer from GG.

Fucking awful.

Lol, the community is garbage at predictions. Just gotta wait and see how it plays out.

Awful and top players are not worth listening to, either.

Remember when people thought Dhalsim was the best character in the game and the changes to Ken from the beta to release made him a bad character?

Absolute shit.

Everything we say turns out to be completely wrong. Expect mika to be beyond god tier level in S2.

Well, that couldn't be clearer. Thanks, everyone!

If you want to switch characters, now is the time. There are no big tournaments any time soon, no Pro Tour points to earn and the big balance patch is imminent.

Déception is how you say disappointment in French.
Ah ok. Sounded like there was something going on behind the scenes.

Capcom better bring up fixing the netcode's one sided rollback.

I had a smooth game while downloading(Playing Survival) with my opponent not being able to react to jumps and cross ups.

Whaaaa...

Are you saying that you just had a smooth match against the AI which does have a weaknesses towards responding to cross ups? And you're using that as some sort of justification that the one-sided rollback netcode needs to be fixed?

Kinda disappointed that there's only 6 characters in season 2 and Akuma is the only returning fighter. I was really hoping they would add 8 or more but it seems like 6 per year is what we can expect. I'd be okay with Satsuki being one of the newcomers, as long as she gets a unique moveset instead of borrowing animations from Cammy and other existing characters.

How long did it take for them to release the cast of season 1 after it leaked? I'd like to know what I'm getting before dropping money on the season pass.

Akuma, the first character, is dropping on 20th Dec. So far they haven't given a schedule, perhaps they're trying to not restrict themselves to a particular timetable that they have to follow.

Season 1 was a bit of a unique situation since it was on the year that the game released so they had less months available to release the characters where as this time they'll already have a character out before the year even starts.

No, I was playing Survival to Earn FM and accepting online matches to avoid loosing. Then I remember I was downloading a game and noticed my opponent having a hard to blocking my jumps.

6 characters just means we might get the next season earlier than you think.

The pass is labeled "Character Pass 2017" on the PS store, which suggests that it is the only pass for the year. If they wanted to do multiple passes, then I would have expected them to use different language not tied to the year, in order to avoid complaints (like how MK used "kombat pack").

The schedule is weird tbh, if tthey stick with one a month, we'll have nothing after May.
However if they spread it out (bimonthly per example), characters won't arrive in time to be legal for a lot of majors.

And honestly I don't want to go 2 months without a new character.

All I can say is please stop downloading things in the background if you're gonna be playing online. Even Killer Instinct's netcode is gonna have trouble holding up if the connection isn't stable.

Yeah I feel you. I think this time they're trying to have all the characters out for a while before Capcom Cup so that more people can have time to play with them. If they do go for a monthly thing, then we'll have all 6 characters out before EVO which would be fantastic but then I don't know what they'll do for the rest of the year.

Cast of season 1 got leaked because people dug around the game files in UE4 and found references to them. Capcom has gotten way better about hiding things in their updates, so we might not know who the rest of the roster is until they are announced.

As for the amount of characters, call it a hunch but I have a feeling the reason Capcom is only doing 6 characters a season is because they want to get the full roster in months before EVO takes place. I think having DLC characters after EVO really hinders their viability & the community's willingness to dig deep on their potential, since most players will have already dug their heels into one of the earlier cast members, which is what we saw a lot of this year - most competitively played DLC characters were Alex & Guile, the first 2 early comers.

And technically speaking, we got 7 DLC characters this year; Akuma releases on Dec. 20th.

Truth be told, I feel that the viability of the characters was also a legitimate reason. There was plenty of time to get a pocket Balrog or Juri or Ibuki but 2 of those characters are hot garbage. Balrog is still decent and I guess he's never been a particularly popular pick in the highest levels of play but still.

Good points. Maybe the plan is to have all characters out there long before the Pro Tour ends and then have a few months to let the game breath.

I think its because having the DLC characters out early allows you to put out a balance patch to adjust them a little before the CPT gets in too deep into the season & adjust character balance is no longer an option. Several of the DLC characters this year needed adjustment, even bug fixing (Juri's Axe kick special being grabbable before it touches the ground is a good one) but didn't get it, likely cause they didn't want to rock the boat while CPT was underway.

By doing it earlier, it gives them more time to adjust the newcomers & issue a tiny rebalance early in the season should they require it, or any of the characters really.

Several of the later DLC characters, like Juri/Ibuki/Balrog & even Urien to an extent, needed a balance adjustment to make them viable. We all knew that wasn't gonna happen after EVO though. At that point, the game's balance has to be locked in for CC & CPT.

Capcom knows in order to sell these characters, they have to make them viable.

They gave balrog a DP , what the actual fuck?

Same thing with Juri.

I guess Capcom forgot it was a joke when the community says X character was needing a DP.

Nobody plays Juri

Waiting the patch notes on her is hard when absolutely no one is trying to play with her.

I keep facing Juris on casual matchmaking. I guess people want to like her.

Hello ;_;

Can't play her in ranked. Hopefully that will change in S2.

I really like the character design, but at this point I've had to admit that I have no idea how to player her in both IV and V. So I play other characters, and have a much better time.
