I think that GTS and GoW are solid enough to Fall Sept/ Oct, staying clear of the Nov slaughter.
I don't expect GOW until early 2018 and GT isn't what it used to be. Still a major exclusive but could easily get lost in holiday 2017 which is looking to be insane.

Yes, that gives them very nice boost in traditionally slower sale months... But I want to see #1 carnage at sales, and #2 at least some software push by Sony to combat against Scorpio.
Don't smart bundles or aggressive pricing usually take care of that? Also we still have no clue how much the scorpio is gonna cost

great numbers so far! let's see how it will pan out in the long term. I remember that many (me among them) were sure about it beating the 100 millions Wii U in terms of LTD, probably even be able to surpass the 105(?) millions of the PSX.

As far as we know now, Sony will combine PS4 and Pro sales in their financial reports.

Yeah they aren't considering it the 'next' console. It's supposed to be like a sister console to the ps4. Hence the games are 'ps4' games.

People on here were quoting the $600 - $700 region because of the 4k blu ray player

Good job, PS4. Good job, boy. /pat pat
I'm so gay for Trico ;-)

Congrats to Sony. PS4 is the only console I've ever bought day one, and while the first year was pretty rough, it's only continued to get better since then. And looking forward there's some incredible games coming

Word. Exactly how I feel. Next few years will have an overwhelming number of potentially great exclusives and some really exciting 3rd party games too.

What are 50 million people playing?

According to a "source" that shall not be named, the 15 best selling games on PS4 are:

1 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
2 Grand Theft Auto V
3 FIFA 16
4 Star Wars Battlefront (2015)
5 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
6 Fallout 4
7 FIFA 17
8 FIFA 15
9 Destiny
10 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
11 Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
12 The Last of Us
13 Minecraft
14 Far Cry 4
15 Watch Dogs

And they in total are sold in around 100 million copies. Treat all of this info as unrealiable, but it shows the general trend of the PS4 audience tastes.

I'd only like to receive 1€ per unit sold of those 50 million :p Heck, even 0.50€ would be enough! XD

In any case, congrats to Sony. They knocked it out of the park with the PS4. Great console. Any comparisons versus the same sales period for last gen consoles (PS3 in particular)?

Well deserved. I was worried we'd never have another console as great as the PS2 but I think they'll get there by the end.

You are forgetting that Microsoft doesn't want a 10 year gen.

It doesnt matter what microsoft wants. The ps4 is the winner this gen. Sony dictates when the next gen starts.

Developers will focus on the 50 million potential customers so they will keep making games for the ps4.

That's actually quite shocking to me. With as much as people shit on it I was assuming it was hovering around the 5 million mark, tops.

For 2016 and the way the world is today in terms of mainstream gaming popularity, 13 million over 4 years is an absolute disgrace and that's being kind.

The Dreamcast gets shat on for selling about 10m in its short life of 2 years. In fucking 1999-2001. The Wii U was a shocking flop.

I agree with GoW, but what makes you say GT isn't what it use to be? GT 6 sold about 5 million a month after the PS4 launched. I think it can go toe-to-toe with the biggest heavy hitters from third parties.

Um no? Look what happened with x360 and PS2.

The market is a lot different now though. And internationally Xbox is just not a strong brand.

But if Microsoft moves you can be sure Sony can't wait...

That's the reason why console manufacturers sometimes make weird choices in their hardware. They are ruthlessly choosing to include only what is absolutely needed. For example, not including third USB port on base PS4 has probably saved Sony from paying ~million dollars in manufacture. Little costs quickly add up into large sums when the products are sold in these quantities.

Uhhhhh... it was just last gen that disproves what you're saying.

PS2 was far in the lead, but MS dropped the 360 a year before PS3 and started the new gen. So, no.

50 million is 16.666 per year. It really is a beast.

And the year hasnt even ended yet, you can add another 3 million to that figure.

Honestly, what a rundown for Sony this gen.

They are essentially replicating PS2 numbers in 2016 and closely keeping up with the the Wii. While making a lot more money than they ever did.

Fucking bravo.

It's a combination of things. The drop off from 5-6. The racing genre not being as popular. It not being a mainline GT game and having the Sport tag.

Sony totally deserve these great sales !

The PS4 is really an amazing console and this past weekend with PSX reinforced how much i love PlayStation. It was an avalanche of great games and announcements. They have the best variety and the best messaging imo. I will contribute this January to their sales as i'm planning to get a PS4 Pro then, can't wait !!

Congrats Sony, keep it up !
