some guy leaked FFXV's story six months ago | up: newer 4chan stuff as of Dec 9th

With Cloud it was mostly his background with SOLDIER and Zach. This would have been possibly an entire game full of hallucinations. Just complete off the rails.

Actually it seens Nomura will focus more on the allucinations in the Remake:

Cloud’s hallucination scenes will be situated to be more meaningful.

This game is really Nomura's substitute for Versus XIII.

For some reason I thought you knew the script. That's why you were always so detailed at everything when it came to Versus and XV in my opinion.

I owe you an(other) apology.

I've been following the game since 2006 so I've read nearly every interview/piece of media there was. Nomura actually shared a good amount of information believe it or not. That and I've heard a few behind the scenes things here and there throughout the years.

FUCK MY LIFE!!!!

Tell us everything you know about Versus

The game centered about death, ghosts and hallucination/dreams. Noctis killed the female protagonist before the game started but he didn't remember. Ardyn was Noctis ancestor and he was responsible of the crystals disappearing over time (the only one left was Lucis crystal). Regis died in front of Noctis because his bodyguards betrayed him. The protagonists had to leave the capital because their nation lost the war.

The game didn't focus on summons that much (they still existed) and instead there were actual gods which didn't appear physically. One of the gods was the main antagonist of the first FF game. Each nation was inspired by a different capital of the world. The empire was using ghosts as weapons. Ravus wanted to kill Noctis for having killed her sister. The game ended in another dimension which was supposed to be their version of the after-life.

It's hard to remember every detail.

This actually sounds fucking amazing T_T

This sounds like bullshit lol.

I remember a lot of people thinking she was dead back in 2013. It was the most logical conclusion given the scenes shown.

Noctis talking about his heavy heart, Stella only being a memory... yeah, she's dead, Jim.

I remember back when the Versus XIII party scene was first released people were speculating that Stella was a ghost due to her wearing a white dress, and how we haven't seen her interact with anyone aside from Noctis. I thought that theory was crazy back then . . .

Eerie how it makes sense now, though. Especially after watching the 2013 trailer like others have pointed out.

So Stella was a ghost/halluciantion?

Nah apparently everybody already figured this..

Some of it lines up pretty well, and I'm willing to buy it since the old leaks turned out to be mostly true.

I mean, in Regis' death scene in Kingsglaive, it was so obvious to me that Nyx was basically a stand-in for Noctis from a pre-reworked script.

Why does it look like she's glitching at the end lmao

I actually liked Vanille as a character but her peppy shield honestly does make me think she lost it a bit

Well she self confessed to lying for the majority of the game too in Chap 9. Though her narration probbaly wasnt filled with lies haha

Well, if we're posting dumb 4chan threads about FFXV which might also become true later on... here's this: http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/360061246 (Thread title being: I worked on FFXV, ask me anything)

I remember deying the leaks and wishing for them to not come true. The game slapped me with reality.

Why did Luna feel like such an unimportant character?
I heard that the team had to change and delete certain scenes about her because they portrayed her in a way that would have been criticized nowadays. And like what happened with everything else, it seems like her role in the story wasn't able to get fixed before release.

[…]

There were references to the heroine having been abused by other characters, some scenes would have featured Luna crying because of her health and there were also mentions of her goal in life being meeting the male protagonist's expectations/objectives, which the team considered that were going to be problematic since the game had been carrying a bad reputation because of the way they portrayed female characters.
hmmmmmmm..... Bullet dodged?

Good thing you ask that because I remember stories about the people in charge of the team wanting to change the designs of the main protagonists and a bunch of contractual problems surfacing or something like that. To sum up: the decision to have the characters designed this way was made a long time ago and they had to use those designs for a large part of the game.
Answer to this was something something Roen.

The end part of the game was supposed to be bigger. I know for a fact that dark world Lestallum was finished. Old Iris was also featured in some scenes. Cindy too (and I also recall them not wanting to change the Cindy design even though it was problematic because her older design implied character development).
Talk about backfired.

Tell us what changed. Exactly, in detail, as much as you can remember.
Well, the first stop after Altissia had an (smaller) open world area and you could drive the car alone.
There was a level leading up to when you encounter the Shiva statue.
The dark world section of the game featured more enviroments, you encountered each party member in different locations and you could explore part of Lestallum.
The final boss (which was another Ardyn form) got cut early this year.
The Tenebrae invasion happened after the protagonist entered the city and you got to explore a very small section of the city and Luna's chamber.
Scenes that featured Luna got cut because they were considered to be problematic.
Cor got written out of the last half of the story since it made no sense for him to show up (he was Noctis companion during the small open area after Altissia).
Believe, GAF!

so like Cloud? Thankfully FF7 remake is on the way!

Versus Noctis feels he would have been a more extreme version of Cloud in this regards. Cloud's memory was mostly jumbled. This would have been active hallucinations.

Well nevermind. I guess Nomura is getting his way after all.

Oh! I see now.

Still owe you an apology though.

I understand upper management having to put their foot down and make deadlines, but you'd think after FFXIV, Square would at least give the dev team time to finish crafting something they're genuinely inspired to make. Maybe XV is a special case, who knows. But I certainly hope this kind of thing doesn't affect their other big upcoming projects. (I'm looking at you FFVIIR)

I feel like one of the main reasons why versus XIII's story didn't work out was the age rating. XV actually seems towned down in so many aspects just to match age rating criterias.

So Nomura is a perv and Tabata is an enabler/learned from the best.

Lmao

Between Nomura, Tabata, and Toriyama... Toriyama's the best of the bunch, because at least the female characters in his games are central to the plot and have a lot of screentime, but lawd, it's still pretty depressing.

After the excellent treatment of the FF ladies in WoFF, Chiba is saving us! (We'll never get a sequel, sigh.)

Definitely. Tabata's story is garbage. The man does know how to craft an effective plot.

I think you mean "does not know"? If so then yeah, I completely agree. Tabata couldn't tell a good story to save his life, not ONE of his games has had a cohesive story (at least from what I've played of Crisis Core, Type-0 and XV and what I heard of 3rd Birthday). Hell, Type-0 even had the stupid cross-media bullshit, with the CE-only manga doing a better job of telling the protagonists backstory than the actual game.

I'd really like to see Square Enix adopt Naughty Dog's structure, with a Game Director and a Creative Director collaborating to make their games. Let someone who knows how to craft and tell a story be in charge of it and the performances, while someone else (like Tabata) is in charge of the game design. Though trusting Square Enix, that would probably just turn their games into bigger messes.

The whole ghost revelation thing, along with Stella being dead, could have made for some seriously poignant/tear-jerking scenes if the script had stayed the same.

This is actually upsetting, knowing how amazing and grim the story originally was.

I would have been better off not knowing these FFv13 leaks, lol

Now I'll constantly be judging and comparing FF15's plot/characters to FFv13s.

Fuck.

Kind of hilarious and sad at the same time to see users you considered to be level headed eating this up as if it was confirmed.

Oh well. :p

I'm not buying into the Versus gig as confirmed, for what it's worth. I believed the original XV leak, though, because we had reason to strongly suspect that this one as well as one of a couple of others were both getting a tremendous amount right, as soon as marketing released its very next piece.

In this case, and certainly in the case of a prospective Versus XV, I am doubtful.

With FFVIIR remake it looks like they at least learn something.
It on a popular engine and it outsource which were 2 problem they had with FF verse\FFXV

Guys, what if Sora is actually having hallucinations all of this time and we will discover this in KH III? I mean, that would explain why he sees so many Disney characters and stuff.

Don't be silly, Sora's just going to hallucinate Versus XIII for 80% of the game. It's how Nomura's executing his vision

Same, really only balee the XV stuff.

Stella being a ghost, as others have pointed out, fits with all the old Versus trailers. No character other than Noctis interacted with her at all. Whether that would be a good narrative choice is another idea. I imagine regardless of how she was portrayed that her character needed a lot of screen time to work. Things could have been crazy dark.

Can we talk about the team allegedly realising that Cor served no purpose storywise and just writting him out like "uhm... I'm sure they won't notice" lol

The story now is pretty solid, we just needed more exposition and fleshed supporting characters.

A lot of this seems like overly complicated Nomura story.
