My LG is not OLED. It's one of the inexpensive 43UH6100 4k TVs and last week I sent a tweet to them asking about the update to HDR in Game mode specifically with my TV and the other day they replied saying that the update will roll out soon. That's all. Just waiting for it. My current version is 04.30.40.

Thank you. Looking forward to the update.

Thank you. Looking forward to the update.

As soon as I got home last night and turned on my TV, I received the update. Version 04.30.70.

The only thing I noticed though is that while playing FF15 on my non-Pro PS4, the HDR setting in the options menu is still grayed out. So then I tried switching on the TV's HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color setting and that's when the HDR setting became usable. I don't know if I should have that on though because I am not using a PS4 Pro. So when I tried playing FF15 with it on, I could see some of the text flicker when in motion. :(

Ok, I have an E6 and didn't really notice input lag for it.

But seeing the list of applicable models, I see it is not on it.

So to clarify, it's the input lag the E6 was released with? I've had the TV since towards the end of May, which was very soon after it came out.

I don't understand what you're trying to clarify. The E6 has recently received a firmware update that injects HDR game mode. Recently being in the past week or so.

That is what I was trying to clarify, when it happened.

I did not know there was an update this past week for it. Although I haven’t played any HDR games as of yet, so probably why I didn’t notice it.

I think the only way to play HDR games is via the PS4 Pro and Xbox 360S, correct?

The original PS4 (and the Slim) with firmware 4.0 or newer can play HDR games as well.

Ok, thanks.

So are there any HDR games without 4K?

I know you can have HDR without 4K with movies/TV, but I haven't heard about games that are HDR, without also being 4K.

Can't believe it's one month since pro and Oled EU model still have that hdcp issue. Not even talking about hdr mode

Last update for Australian models was in September, at this point I've almost given up on even getting the HDCP issue properly resolved let alone HDR game mode.

Abysmal region based updates from LG.

The recent-ish B6 patch improved general input lag but it still varies over time (35/58ms roughly from what I remember). It didn't add a specific HDR game mode though

If it fixes the variable input lag and keeps it at the lower end of the current range, I think that would be a good result

So some regions already have the HDR game mode? Damn LG, end of month in Europe is hopefully just a rough note so you won´t get any schedule pressure. I still expect it before christmas!

I know you can have HDR without 4K with movies/TV, but I haven't heard about games that are HDR, without also being 4K.

Literally every game that supports HDR can do so at 1080p, on xbox one s, ps4, ps4 pro, and pc.

So I emailed LG support asking if HDR game mode is coming to my model (49UH661v) and this is what they had to say.

I hope this email got to you safely and thank you for your query.

I have personally looked into this for you, and at this time, we have no information when, or if HDR game mode will be rolled out through a software patch for your model. If you wish to take the TV back as it is not guaranteed, then that is entirely your choice.

If you have any further queries, then please do not hesitate getting back in touch, as we are more than happy to assist.

I hope it will but its not looking very promising.

Can someone with a standard PS4 confirm that for HDR in Game mode to work you have to turn on the HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color setting in the General menu? I just got the 04.30.70 update, but I don't know for certain I am getting HDR on my standard PS4, which I thought was capable of it. For example, on FF15, the HDR option only works with HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color turned on, but I don't know if that is normally supposed to be on to get HDR.

Also, does it matter if I need to have one of those HDMI cables labeled premium 4k or UltraHD to get either 4k or HDR to work?

I'd be in the dick

Most TVs have an option like that one that needs to be turned on for HDR. One you turn it on, you're good to go.

I see rtings.com has updated their LG reviews with the new input lag measurements based on HDR Game mode. Does anyone know what the bolded section means though?

"Update 12/02/2016: With the newest firmware update (04.30.19) there has been the addition of a HDR gaming mode. In this mode the HDR input lag is lower, and should be fine for HDR gaming. Note that although the TV accepts a 4k @ 60Hz @ 4:4:4 + HDR signal, it can't accurately display the chroma subsampling in any HDR mode, even with the 'PC' icon selected."

They could have easily gone down the scumbag route and force everyone to buy their 2017 models, so good on them for doing this.

Damn, I've been looking at the LG C6 here in Australia. I was reading how much the firmware improved the HDR input lag, I was thinking it was pretty reasonable, but they haven't even fixed the HDCP issue locally? Damn the region specific updates, truly terrible. Anyone know how I'd go importing one from the US?

I would like to note that this specifically applies to the LG UH9500 model, since the poster didn't specify. Had me worried for no reason over paying 3k for a b6 with hdr issues

It's not just the UH9500. The reviews for the UH8500, C6 and E6 (and possibly a few lower end models) all have that note as well.

Anyone who has an LG set waiting for the HDR game mode update then look on the LG website. Alot of TVs have now got the HDR gamemode firmware ready to download as of today.
