- Horizon Zero Dawn - New IP, neat art style with the machine dinosaurs in nature that make me curious to explore. Combat looks pretty great, with the emphasis on traps like a hunter, being able to tear off limbs and use them to continue to hurt robot dinosaur, or hacking robot deer...it just looks cool, and again so strange the Killzone guys are making this.
- Divinity: Original Sin 2 - My favorite game in 2014, the writing and world look to be better, love that you can pick races with special dialog around them, the combat now has vertical elements, can't wait to see what people do with the dungeon master mode, romance stuff, and modding just to make the package great.
- Prey - Well I love what Arkane has done with their take on Thief, so I know I'll want to see what they do with System Shock. Art style looks neat, powers like moving your body into a cup for stealth are cool/funny, and I'm on board with the gun that can paint pathways to higher places.
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Huge South Park fan, the last one was probably the most consistently funny video game I've played, and I like the setup based around making fun of comic book universes.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Haven't cared about Zelda for so long, but this one looks the most difference. Never thought I'd see one through the lens of Far Cry 2, or just survival elements mixed with the puzzles and world of Zelda. It looks pretty systemically driven with you being able to cut down trees, and push logs down hill because friction...so I'm on board with that.
- DESYNC - Looks like the closest thing I'll get to a Bulletstorm sequel, but with more neon. Bigger emphasis on combo-ing different neat looking gun abilities with hazards in the environment. Also, just like Bulletstorm it emphasizes constantly being creative with finding new ways to kill, and making those combinations feel powerful.
- Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 - Been waiting a long time for Relic to do another W40K RTS, and this one looks like the in-between scale of Dawn of War 1 & 2. The large scale units also look to bring a missing element into combat that I've always wanted.
- RUINER - More cyberpunk stuff, but with an isometric camera, and absolutely slick looking combat. The focus on both guns and melee, with heavy amounts of dashing is always a thing I love in action games, especially if I see it well animated with great feedback.
- Persona 5 - New entry I've been waiting for a while now. Persona was always a unique RPG to me just because it had that rhythm of social mechanics that choice and effect, mixed with dungeon crawling using different
pokemondemons. I see some stealth gameplay , a neat stylized UI over everything, and I hope to get a new fun story. - Below - I've been waiting for so long at this point since reveal, and the delays. It looks like a neat take on Souls, with a weird world, neat art style using tilt-shift photography to dramatic effect, bonkers sounding crafting, and the combat looks solid enough.

These are games that I'm confident will release in 2017 and I'll buy them day one. There are a lot of other games that I'm interested in like Nier: Automata, Red Dead Redemption 2, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Scalebound, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, Ni No Kuni II, Final Fantasy XII remaster, ... and a lot of indie games, But I'm not sure if/when I'm going to play them.

3. Persona 5 : To be honest, I'm cautious about this game as I've never played a Persona game before. I'm quite curious about this game due to its raving reviews...I'm hoping my older brother will lend me his PS4 for this game.

1. Dragon Quest XI; one of my all-time favourite series. I just love everything about this franchise and cant wait to play another console DQ game. I know there was X, but that was a MMO and on a platform I didnt own.
2. Yakuza 0; Another fav franchise of mine. Cant wait to kick some 80s ass! The game looks gorgeous.
3. Horizon Zero Dawn; Cool new IP, robo dinos!! Looks breathtaking and looks like heaps of fun to play.

That Dangan Hype is too real, even the characters I'm lukewarm on (that of course the fans have frenzied over) still seem pretty interesting and the setting being a nice mix of the more open and colorful Jabberwock and locked-in environment of HPA is great, it's the best of both worlds. I'm really excited to see what they do now that they're not bound by the old game's stories. - Kingdom Hearts 2.8

Haven't been paying too much attention to this one, but I did like what I've seen from it and it seems to be getting positive reception as well. Might not Day One, though.
1) Zelda Breath of the Wild - Since XenobladeX I just love exploring and I love the futuristic touch from the cheikah.
2) Danganronpa V3 - Obvious. Really entertaining series. No reason not to welcome this new entry yet
3) Dragon Quest XI - Not sure yet. If I get it, it would be on Switch I guess and even on any other platform, I'd wait to see more of it.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2 : It's Rockstar so it will probably be delayed to 2018, but i can't wait for the sequel to one of my favorite games. I just hope that the campaign doesn't suffer from their new found multiplayer focus.
2. Warhammer: Total War 2 : I love Warhammer:TW and every DLC released so far gave me many hours of fun. I fully expect the first standalone expansequel ( ) to be focussed on high elves and dark elves, which are both interesting factions i'd like to play in a grand campaign.
3. Horizon: Zero Dawn : this game keeps looking better and better. I just hope it will be beautiful and smooth on a non pro-PS4 as well.

Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony : Just played the Danganronpa games this year over the summer and adored them.The concept alone was strong enough to carry even mediocre execution, but they knocked it out of the park in pretty much every way. I even liked Danganronpa 3, well the future arc at least. That said, Dreams would top this list if they ever announced a release date.
2. Horizon Zero Dawn : I have complete faith that Guerrilla will deliver with this one.
3. For Honor : Higher than I thought I would put it at first, but why not. It looks amazing to me and Ubisoft have fully proven their abilities when it comes for multiplayer games.

2. Nioh ; It's essentially Dark Souls meets Ninja Gaiden with samurai. I loved all the betas and can't wait to play the full game.
3. Nier: Automata ; I love Platinum Games, and the combat in this looks amazing. It also has a great aesthetic and style to it.
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind ; I'm a big fan of Zelda, and this game looks incredible. Hoping it doesn't get delayed.

Even with the caveat that we don't know the full Switch lineup for next year and a few of the most exciting ps4 exclusives not being confirmed for next year yet (even though I am sure things like Detroit, Dreams etc. will make it), I didn't have too much trouble putting together10 games for my list.
1. Horizon Zero Dawn - Could of easily been Zelda BOTW for top spot on another day, but right now this game is more appealing to me. Everything I've seen and read about it so far seems on point, especially the glowing hands on impressions.
2. The Legend of Zelda BOTW - To be honest, none of the footage released since e3 has been particularly impressive to me. The Games Awards snippet was really underwhelming for example. Still, it's the one game (excluding remasters) on my list which I can say for 99% surety is going to be an all time classic - every mainline Zelda game I have played has been nothing short of great and I can't see Nintendo letting me down with such a pivotal NX launch game.
3. Shenmue 3 - Easy to be cynical about this one (is even going to meet it's 2017 release target in the first place?), but if it does live up to it's legacy than a potential goty for sure.
4. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - Yes, this game is eligible for this list as it a standalone title that is even getting a physical retail release. More importantly it's a sequel of sorts to my game of the generation so far, so there's that.
5. Resident Evil 7 - The playable demo was meh. Still can't say no to a new entry (and a revolutionary one at that) in one of my favorite series.
6. Yooka Laylee - Been itching for a hd era throwback to N64 era 3d platformers. This looks the perfect antidote!
7. Below - Despite the ridiculous protracted development time (it's been like 4 years since it was announced right?), I have a good feeling it will be for the games benefit.
8. Wipeout Omega Collection - A collection of Wipeout games that I missed. Best thing next to a true sequel. Would have been somewhere near the top of my list if it also included the ps1 era Wipeouts too, especially Wipeout 2097.
9. Rain World - I'll be frank: I know next to nothing about this game. Don't even know exactly what kind of game it is. What little I've seen of it so far, the tech behind the game and the enthusiasm show here on GAF towards it has been enough to hype me on this one. I'm going in to this one blind as a bat!
10. Crackdown 3 - I didn't actually like the first Crackdown much (didn't bother with the second) - the was world too lifeless and it got repetitive quick. With the power of the cloud (heh), those complaints will hopefully be addressed. Will not be pleased if I need a Scorpio to get the 'full' experience.
Other anticipated games that didn't make the cut (but maybe could on a different day): State of Decay 2, Crash N sane trilogy, Phantom Dust hd, FF12 hd, Gravity Rush 2, Tales of Berseria, Dragon Quest heroes 2, Yakuza 0 / Kiwami, Nier Automata and Persona 5.

Nier: Automata : Laboring diligently in the shadows for well over a decade, creative designer Yoko Taro has been crafting an overarching masterwork of tribulation synthesized in a science-fiction fantasy apocalypse. Undeniably a subjective experience in its execution, the Drakengard universe remains an unsung flagship for auteurist ambition in the interactive industry. Unique design choices have packed a poignant punch that lingers with those willing to delve beyond its shoestring presentation to unearth a charismatic fervor of characterization and haunting presentation. However, the resurgence of its better known subset felt like an unexpected 'bombshell' alongside Shenmue III. 1. Persona 5
Fell in love with the SMT series with Persona 4 and Nocture back in 2009, been waiting for P5 since then. Although FFXV always took priority as most anticipated game for the last 10 years, but Persona 5 was the one i was completely confident it would turn out great. And when the first gameplay trailer hit, i knew that this game will end up being more than great, perfect. The cast, the faster and more intuitive combat, the art direction, the implications of the plot, the style in everything, the expanded Social Links, more detailed everything and more content,I've never had more blind faith in the quality of a game than Persona 5.
No need to wait for April, Atlus and the Phantom Thieves already took my heart.
2. NieR Automata
Speaking of blind faith, the only other title worthy of such praises is NieR Automata.
The original NieR was the best hidden gem in my career as a gamer: such a blend of RPG, action, Zelda-like elements, mind-blowing experiments with other genres, great characters, crazy twists and many tears, and the greatest OST of last gen, only hindered by a serviceable at best combat system and a less-than-B-tier budget. Never i would have expected a sequel to this.
But the Gods listened to us, and gave us Automata. Not only that, but they also decided to give the game what i would call no less than a dream team: Yoko Taro at the direction and writing (the creator of NieR, so expect more crazy stuff), Platinum Games taking care of the bulk of the developement (so expect the best action combat in the industry in glorious 60FPS), Akihiko Yoshida as character designer (who already blessed us with the goat protagonist 2B) and NieR original composer Keichi Okabe (prepare to cry, a lot).
If there is one thing this game is going to be, it's perfection.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
I was initially super worried and skeptical about this game, because i thought Nintendo didn't know where to go with the franchise, and the claims about it being open world made me fear for the worst. But they did it, in the few times they've shown they game, it already gives the impression of being full of innovations (harder and more complex battles, better enemy AI, food, equipment, climbing, world interactions etc.), and they made me interested in their vision of open world. I've been burned out by open world games simply because most (especially western devs) definition of "open world" simply means "you are in a big space and free to tackle quests and objectives in the order you want", while Nintendo is showing us with this game that open world also means to approach a problem with a vaste range of opportunities, which pushes for more creative gameplay and lateral thinking. We've seen people doing crazy things already during the fist hands-on, i cant even imagine what's going to come out of the full game. Plus i love the fact that apparently you can start and go directly towards the final boss if you're skilled and brave enough, or you can just let yourself loose in the world and discover all of its little story details.
Plus the artstyle it's amazing, they already calmed my worries about towns/settlements, and i'm sure will do the same with weird, wacky NPCs that i love in the series.
C'mon Zelda, i'm ready to get lost in your world.
4. Nioh
I was into this project when it was announced back in 2006(?): an action-rpg based on an unfinished Akira Kurosawa's script? Sign me the hell up! Then it went into oblvion, only to resurrect a year ago (with a big ass scream from me during the PSX conference), now with more Souls gameplay! Jokes aside, i really liked where they went with the gameplay, because even if i was burned out by the Souls series, the setting was interesting enough to keep me interested. Then i tired the Alpha and oh boy it was probably the most engaging thing i played this year. Yes, while the core gameplay takes many notes from the From Software series, it's faster and closer to other Team Ninja character action games, but at the same time, thanks to the stamina system, able to leave you a few seconds to breathe that really gives the sensation of being in a samurai duel. And there are so many things added to the gamepla: 3-stances, stamina regain system, skill trees and techniques, jutsus and spirit animals. Soo much stuff!
And if it provides plenty of locations and a big and robust story with many characters (taken from real life counterparts, which is great imo), another thing that can distinguish it from Dark Souls and its non traditional storytelling, i think we're in for a threat and a potential GOTY contender.
5. Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom
And if you thought i screamed at Nioh's re-reveal at PSX 2015, you should have checked out my reaction to Ni No Kuni 2. The original game was one with many defects in all of it's compartments (story, characters, gameplay, questing), but it was so charming it quelled my thirst for a traditional JRPG. Level-5 has a lot to work on and fix for NnK2, but they had something with potential in there, and now they have a more powerful hardware to make the Gibli artsyle even better, and they are already moving in the right direction with the combat by going action. Shame it seems do drop the familiars though. If they improve the story cohesivness, more exposition for other characters than the protagonist, more combat options and btter ally AI, more varied and deeper sidequests, and livelier cities, it's going to be a great game!
6. Dragon Quest XI
With all of these new JRPGs that features many innovative styles or design features, my thirst for a traditional turn based game is at its peak. And what's more traditional than Dragon Quest? To be honest, DQVIII was my one and only complete experience, but boy i still remember it as one of my greatest gmaing adventures: a giant, varied world with an interesting cast with plenty good voice acting, and a combat system both rigid and difficult but still very fun to play. IX and X both had interesting concepts that never clicked with me though, while XI is exactly what i wanted, a spiritual successor to VIII. The graphics are amazing thanks to Unreal Engine 4, the world interesting and massive, and the cast charming like only a DQ game can be. They only need to show me the combat for the final push.
Honestly though, i'm not so confident it will hit the West in 2017, but here's hoping.
7. Gravity Rush 2
Initially i wasn't interested in Gravity Rush at all, but then i bought the PS4 Remaster and boy, what an hidden gem! Kat is an adorable protagonist actually
(bar her weird crushes on boys every now and then), a charming city that reminded me of Ghibli movies and most important the funniest method of traversal in any videogame. Playing with gravity was mindblowing. Still, the story was pretty messy (but what japanese game isnt?), and it's clear the game was limited by Vita hardware. A PS4 sequels means incredibly updated graphics, more gameplay options and a bigger better world. Plus we geet a free DLC!
8. Red Dead Redemption 2
The only Rockstar franchise i care for, RDR was one of the best and most touching games of last gen.
The fact that this is R* first next gen attempt means they'll go for a massive, super detailed world. Hope they go really crazy on the lawless side of the content though, i want crazy banks nad trains robberies.
9. Horizon: Zero Dawn
Robot. Freaking. Dinos. Actually, that stopped being the coolest thing ever a while ago, and since then my hype for Horizon: Zero dawn has gone down quite a bit. It has everything to be an amazing title (the dinos, a giant open world, a new type of combat, the dinos, some Witcher 3 quests designers, beautiful graphics and dinos), but i fear it will fall into the open-world, collectibles filled, samey quests that i'm honestly done with.
Still, grats to Guerrilla for trying something new and fresh, hope ot turns out for the best.
10. Tales Of Berseria
I have a short history with Tales, only played a big chunk of Abyss, really wanted to play Vesperia, and since then kept an eye on all the following releases but they felt super flat to me. Berseria though is the only one that keeps looking interesting, the basic plot sounds like a lot like a cheesy Berserk
, and in the import thread many said its the best Tales in years. Will wait 'till Summer, but i'm quite eager to play this.

2. Danganronpa V3: Several of the characters sound really interesting, and it's been years since I've played a mainline entry in the franchise. I miss it.
3. Tokyo Xanadu: Been looking forward to this since I first heard about it. Sounds right up my alley.
4. Zero Escape -- The Nonary Games: I actually have the last two (2nd digitally), but haven't played them or 999 yet, so when I heard this was coming out, I just decided to wait. Looking forward to finally playing this series, since I've heard so much about it.
5. Caligula: Again, been looking forward to this since I first heard of it.
6. Hatsune Miku -- Project Diva Future Tone: Even if it's mostly songs I've played before, these are still a load of fun. And so many songs! Sign me up.
7. Sharin no Kuni: Never read this, and I like dystopian scenarios, so looking forward to it. Backing the kickstarter.
8. Period Cube: I always look forward to more Otome VNs, and this sounds interesting.
9. Hakuoki -- Kyoto Winds: See above. I never got around to playing the PSP version, and this is the remastered one, so hey, guess I'll play this instead.

1. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild: Literally impossible for any other game to be better than BotW next year (IMO of course). Looks like it has a huge possibility to be the best Zelda game of all time, which would also make it one of (or possibly THE) greatest game of all time.

1. Persona 5: P4G is one of the best RPG I've played in a very long time so I'm really pumped to sink 100+hrs into P5 world. The impression from the import thread is solid as well.
2. Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age : FFXII is one of the best FF for me and considering this has the improvement that never made it to the west make me want to visit this game again.

That's it. There's not really anything else announced that I can say I'm excited to play. Some titles that sound like they might be alright which I might pick up once they're cheap, others I just straight up don't care about. It's like this every year though, I don't often see the games coming that I end up liking the most.

1. Persona 5 - I absolutely adored Persona 4, this will be the game to get me to buy a PS4 finally.
2, The Legend of Zelda - BoTW - It will be exciting to play an open world Zelda on the Switch. I'm hoping it can recapture the magic of OOT.
3. Mass Effect Andromeda - Loved the ME trilogy and i'm a space nut.
Looking forward to jumping into another huge space opera!

2. Horizon Zero Dawn ; Looks like an amazing counterpart to Zelda. I'm really curious to see how they end up comparing with one another.

This was actually pretty tough, but the good thing is that most of these games are announced for the first half of 2017 so even if they get delayed they could still make 2017. 2017 is really shaping up to be an amazing year game wise.
1. Persona 5; been waiting a long time for this one. Best part is people have already played and beaten it and say it's amazing. So there's very little chance to disappoint.
2. Nier Automata; I loved Nier and not only are we getting a sequel but they also brought in my favorite artist (Akihiko Yoshida) and the masters of action game play, Platinum Games. One of the best dream teams i've seen in a while.
3. Resident Evil 7; Though I do prefer third person, everything else i've heard/seen about this game sounds on point. It feels like Capcom has finally realized what made this series so special and was able to craft what looks like to be an incredible product.
4. Prey; I liked the reveal. Then the game pretty much fell of my radar. But the more I hear about it the more i'm liking about it. Seems to be harking back to the old school pc fps story games and that sounds like something i'd enjoy.
5. Dragon Quest 11; while Dragon Quest has never been my favorite Rpg series, I still enjoy it and am looking forward to seeing the first AAA rendition of it.
6. Outlast 2; loved the first game so naturally i'm excited for the follow up.
7. RDR2; Loved the first one, am confident the second one will be a masterpiece as well. Shame about the name tho...

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : The game that's made the Switch a must-buy for me despite all the bad news coming out recently. It's exactly what I've wanted for a while, a completely open-world Zelda game that's entirely about adventure.
2. Persona 5 : A close second, but it's been coming for so long that the hype has definitely died down. Persona 4: Golden was one of the only games to truly stick with me after its ending, and this seems to hopefully achieve the same thing.
3. Gravity Rush 2 : Gravity Rush was one of the most overlooked games of the past few years; a current-gen sequel with improved mechanics and a better story/world sounds amazing
4. Resident Evil 7 : From the demo and the various trailers this is shaping up to be a really good return to form for the series. The game is cliche as fuck but manages to create the utterly disgusting atmosphere and world missing from many horror games nowadays.
5. Red Dead Redemption ; The reason this is so low is because we've seen so little of it and I'm worried that Rockstar is going to make MP too much of the focus. Though it's still Rockstar and I've got little doubt that they won't create something great.
6. Yooka Laylee : This game's inclusion is more of a stand-in for Mario than anything, but nevertheless it is still shaping up to be a really great platformer and I've been wanting one of those for a long while.
7. Pyre : You really can't go wrong with Supergiant games, I'm sure this will be worth it just for the artistry and soundtrack alone.
8. South Park: The Fractured But Whole : Whilst I'm cautious about the gameplay considering it's not Obsidian, Trey and Matt still being fully on-board means this will at least be hilarious.
9. Ni Oh : I didn't really get along well with the alpha demo, but the setting looks cool and in the absence of a Soulsborne game this should satiate the itch. Now I've got a PS4 Pro the performance issues should be ironed out as well which is nice.
10. Horizon: Zero Dawn : I'm incredibly cautious about this one. The setting doesn't do much to fully interest me and I haven't seen enough unique gameplay outside of catching creatures to distinguish this from other open world games.
