Gravity Rush 2 demo is live

This and Nier Automata demo coming out back to back...can one man be so happy? Is it possible?

It is! Praise lord Kat!

Favourite game on Vita and my favourite game on PS3 both having their sequel's demos releasing on the same day just before Christmas. Oh man.

If the anime is good enough to the point anime YouTubers shed some light on it. You can bet this is gonna start a viral chain reaction.

Anime->demo->Game

I'm so torn. I really don't want to hit open world fatigue by getting GR2 and Horizon back to back. At the very least, I think GR2's traversal makes it more of a platforming open world style whereas Horizon is definitely a quest based rpg open world.

I'm gonna take the logical approach, and download the GR2 demo even though I've never even played the first game.

And if I enjoy it, I'll get GR Remastered.

Has anyone else tried the gyro controls yet? It could be my DualShock 4 (which is actually brand new as of a few weeks) but they just don't work for me.

I get a lot of judder and Kat's gravity reticle isn't following the controller precisely or slickly after I press R1. It's also losing calibration really quickly. I was hoping for something as fast and slick as Splatoon, but it's not even functional here, neither is it anywhere near close to matching the experience on Vita with its gyro controls.

I've also noticed this demo must be the same as the one used at demo kiosks, as it times out if you leave it for about a minute and restarts itself - just lost my progress typing this post :p

Seemed to work fine on my end, pretty much just as the vita worked, I didn't notice any difference or lack of response. I always play a bit of each though so I'll use the stick to aim in the general direction then fine tune with the controller motion.

Yep, the more Vita games, the better, I say.

I am wondering how they plan to tie those two powers together and make them interesting to use. Good to hear they left a good impression on you in that regard.

Yea, I mean it's early days and just the demo of course, but it felt like it made sense and I was flicking between lunar and jupiter for different enemies. The actual visuals are amazing too. Hope you enjoy :)

One really cool thing about the demo is how the game determines invert controls. It asks you to look left, then up, and depending on how you push the stick to do either it picks invert/non-invert on each axis.

Damn, do you have a new DualShock 4 (with lightbar cutout) or an old one? It's literally broken for me, though I did use rest mode earlier so I'm going to power down my PS4 and boot it back up and see if that "fixes" it.

(I wasn't using gyro to supplement the sticks - rather for quick turns and rotations on the "other" axis)

Haha yea, I totally appreciate when games incorporate settings like that :)

It's the new one! Not sure if they've updated any of the tech inside but I can say for sure it's one of the ones that comes with the slim and has the bar on the front. It shooould totally work the way you were trying to use it.

Right! Definitely don't want to derail the thread since GR2 really deserves to be discussed, but man, I would love even just a remaster to be able to play it on the dualshock. Would love if there was more of an active community here on gaf for FW.

Freedom Wars is PSTV compatible, you can already play it with a dualshock (3/4) right now.

I haven't played GR1 but I have the remaster and I'm planning to play it before 2. I'm hoping this demo doesn't have any spoilers fpr 1 D: I'm still downloading it.

Just rebooted and it's the same - aiming reticle doesn't move much at all, but the screen tilts (inaccurately) when I tilt the controller. It's still very juddery and inaccurate though, so the screen no longer faces where the controller has moved. Really weird.

Edit: Okay, it's just the way the demo forces your perspective on the target...they should probably have turned that off the moment you tilt the controller. Much better now, as the demo has stopped doing that!

Haha is it like demo day today?

Seems like the concept of demos has died this gen...and here I am downlaoading the demo of 2 of my most anticipated games ... On the same day!!

I'm trying hard not to play lol. I just want it to be completely fresh. On the other hand, I just want to soar through the air a little bit...

According to Keiichiro it's about 2 and a half to 3 times bigger than the first one and more:
https://blog.eu.playstation.com/201...s-bigger-bolder-and-better-than-the-original/

I'd say it's open world as you can go to different islands/cities etc and it's big
Yep, yep.

I see what you're saying but I just don't know if I would put it in the same classification of something like Horizon (which is what the person I quoted did). At the very least, it is certainly open though lol.

I was actually looking into this recently! Unfortunately the PSTV seems to be pretty much sold out/ramped up in price these days, I'm not sure if production has been ended on them maybe?

Ah sorry man, I don't know what to tell you. I was really happy with the controls buuuut this could be a case of just feeling different oppose to experiencing different things hah. I'd like to say that's not the case because I don't feel like it's juddery or anything but I don't know. I've only ever played on vita though so honestly the controls felt like a huge step up all around.

OH wait, did you do the tutorial beginning? I went expert so the game wouldn't force my focus on anything, etc haha didn't consider that

haha you have patience! I would love to just sit on this for hours but I know it's better just to play the main demo content then leave it alone. It's not tooo long until release...

The joy when remote download works <3
My things usually stay queued until I turn the PS4 on.

I love FW and every now and then comes the urge to play again. Then I'm reminded of the RNG galore of the crafting system, decide to just spend a few minutes changing my character/acc and call it a day.

Yup. I haven't played Gravity Rush since completing it back in...summer 2012 when it launched I think. So thought I'd best freshen up on the button layout first!

Anyone have any impressions of the demo? Wont get a chance to play until late tonight and I'm curious how it feels.

As much as I love my Vita, Gravity Rush was a game that clearly deserved better.

Nope this game way bigger and pretter for Vita to handle

Shame. I liked the Vita feature from the first game in first person view mode where you point your Vita to the top and see the sky and to the bottom and see the ground etc like when using VR. Sadly this feature isn't possible with Dualshock 4 since it doesn't have a screen.
