Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Maybe Jill will have a Regina color scheme

It'd be her first appearance in a versus game. Even if it was half ass.
Surprised they didn't do it with MVC3 Jill.

And if Frank's coming back then we're probably not getting the best RE character either.

marvel-vs-capcom-2-xbox-360-ps3-jill.jpg

They could just give her a new moveset...which is what they did in MVC3, for better or worse.

Honestly, Frank in UMVC3 wasn't really that much of a summoner character in the same way Jill was in MVC2. His TVC moveset was, yeah, but in UMVC3 his design is all about powering up his weapons. IIRC he only utilizes the zombies for things like grabs and shit.

Jill is probably in a weird place even without Frank. Which I don't think would be a big issue, outside "Why do both these character's use zombies".
Mainly since I think they're stuck at "Do we use MVC3 RE5 jill, Revelations Jill, or take her back to the original?".

There numerous situations but the most likely I see are
-No jill period at release, but maybe DLC in either form
-Jill stays her MVC3 self, but Regina takes her MVC2 style but with dinosaurs
-Jill gets her MVC2 self back,

I loved MVC3 Jill and mained her. However, she still felt very limited. The fact that she couldn't use her guns outside of the super was pretty strange. If they decide to bring her back, I really hope they'd allow her to at least summon Majinis.

But I'm honestly hoping they go back to MVC2 Jill.

Who would be the most disappointing villain to me, hmm. Sigma? A DMC villain? A Monster Hunter monster?

Same. But it's good to remember all the disappointments and meltdowns.

Your disappointing villains would get me pretty hyped lol. Particularly a Monster Hunter Monster--though they aren't villains really, just giant aggressive fauna. I'm not sure there is a villain that would disappoint me. Maybe if they opted to pick a less important villain in a series over the main villain, even then Tron Bonne is one of my faves (her villain status is debatable).

Disappointment and meltdowns happen regardless, it's all a part of the cycle.

Man I dunno Pyron is kinda lame. His animations are neat but he was always a lame big bad for me. GUY ON FIRE.

A guy on fire who is also voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama. The likelihood of Hiyama being in a fighter just means he'll be able to GO FULL HAM.

But his Japanese VA could very well be recast. It's been a while since the last new Darkstalkers game.

A possibility, but not one I'd count on. Hiyama is still very much an active VA that reprises a lot of his roles. He's still doing Demitri (his other Darkstalkers role) in the recent PXZ releases, for example.

Pyron would make sense if they couldn't do Jedah. He's a villian, and as an alien, he'd be pretty cool vs. some of the cosmic Marvel characters.

BTW, one thing I missed about later Darkstalkers games vs. the original, is that the original explicitly listed what kind of "creature" each character was at the versus screen:

True. Especially considering the characters of his series.

I'm okay with most villains really. Seth I guess would be disappointing if a bunch of other characters didn't get in first.
I didn't count Seth since he is so basic animation wise.

consider this:
vergil is a dmc villain
and is basically the dmc villain
I didn't really care for Vergil's inclusion, but I was thinking about the monster/creature design in that game.

What if it was DmC Vergil?
I haven't played DmC but I'd like him more :p
Especially if he is as immature as DmC's Dante.

Outside of obscure ass villains like (ie dark void's) none of the villains with a legitimate chance would disappoint me. I'd be disappointed if Wesker and Vergil don't get in base or dlc. I'd also be disappointed in Sigma if they use his x1 variant and don't bring back zero. Sigma is actually a big ? For me since some forms of sigma are really lame ideally they'd use his awesome x4 version with the scythe.

Yea, X4 Sigma is the best

X4 is what I expect, but I'm still most partial to X2 Sigma.

There you go, Wolverine-fans~!

It's going to be a Konchu. Think about it:

Moves under most standing normals, every hit is a knockdown, invulnerable until toppled. They could really capture the essence of one of the most annoying MH monsters.

I just really hope Wesker makes it back in, he was so fun to play in MvC3.

I want X4 Sigma solely due to one move he has in the game: Throwing the scythe at the wall and electrifying it.

It's not that big a threat in X4, in fact, it's the move you want him to do since him throwing it at the floor is much worse, but in a versus game with a tag mechanic... well, electrifying the opponent's side of the screen suddenly seems quite useful and I don't think anyone has ever had an assist blocker move in the series. Sure, assists work differently now, but still. Locking or punishing the opponent's tag button would be a fun move.

Hmm, Capcom villains with elaborate animations. That's a long list, but the amount of viable candidates isn't. Aren't Lord Raptor and B. B. Hood villains as well? Could be either of them as well. I guess it's my bias talking since I always thought Pyron was boring.

The roster is going to be so sick, you guys.

I know that if I was in everyone else's shoes and it's been a month since new information was revealed I'd take any semblance of a hint I could get. To me, the hype train is half the fun of a new MvC coming out. It's hard hearing something cool about one of my favorite series and keeping it completely secret. I promised not to reveal the character by name or the IP that he or she hails from, but here's a hint: the character is a villain. I know Capcom has lots of interesting and obscure villains, but that's all I can say without giving too much away.

Surprising+Awesome+Capcom+Remarkable animations+one of his favorite series+Villain and maybe obscure

Capcom Villains
Jedah
Pyron
Q-bee
Lord Raptor/Anakaris (both I guess aren't typical villains)
Yami
Chakravartin and pretty much all the Asura's wrath bosses...
Mundus (the DMC1 was pretty bizarre with all the eyes and the gross grabby hands coming out of the
Devilotte and super 8 (eh, iffy on if she's a villain I guess)
G.O.D. (cyberbots)
Meio
Yellow Devil.
any final/BOW RE boss I guess could have crazy animations

I know I'm missing a ton of characters here

Regarding jill, couldn't they just make a composite character of her mvc2 and mvc3 movesets?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I'd love to see Batsu just for Hiyama voicing him. Assuming there's individual character voice options like 3, he's the ONE I'd keep in Japanese and I'm more of a dub guy in general. Hell in TvC we got Hiyama to voice a quick cameo of Pyron in Tekkaman's ending so there's precedent there.

X4 > X1 > X2 = X5 > X3 > X6

Always wondered if Sigma's first forms in X2 & X3 were shout-outs to CoTA and MSH, given the Wolverine claws and Cap America esque shield, respectively.

Which Sigma do you all like the most? Which do you want to see?

X1

X2

X3

X4

X5

X6
What about the Copy-Sigma design from X8? It is mostly a modified X1 Sigma with the added ability to fire a sweeping laser beam. Otherwise, X4 is probably one of the best, even if the boomerangs are a little tacky.

I'd be kind of excited if Pyron is in but since we're likely not getting more than 3 Darkstalkers reps I'm sad as fuck they're probably not going to fix Hsien-Ko.

I demand justice.

The Sigma/Ultron boss fusion is based on Sigma's design from X1, so if he shows up as a standalone character he's likely to use that design for the sake of consistency. It's also his most iconic and recurring look (Dead Rising 3, Street Fighter X All Capcom).
