Ian cheong is the weirdest dude.

Dude used to be fairly left, then somewhere over the past two years he went completely self-hating nutso gamergator.

a woman in labor just got shoved into an old tank a teenage girl repaired
we escorted her out of a war zone, blowing up an enemy tank along the way
she gave birth to a baby boy during the battle

Valkyria Chronicles seems alright so far

Edit:
"look, newborn, that's your hometown"

it's literally a smoking wreck what the fuck Welkin

Edit:
he just compared Alicia's new armor to a beetle exoskeleton: "beetle-tastic!"

I love this

i heard valkyria chronicles is 'fantasy poland fighting fantasy world war 1'

is this accurate?

vc2 apparently was 'lol actually it's high school hijinks' which sounded less than ideal

I wish the arcade mode wasn't the fastest way to get loot boxes because the arcade modes mostly suck.
I like the free for all mode. It's dumb fun. Terrible at times but also the best?
It's a bit silly but I think the thing I'm most hyped for about RDR 2, the only really thing I'm hyped for about it atm, is seeing next-gen weather in RDR

Because RDR storms were terrifying
I'm not a big fan of Westerns but after Westworld and all the City sandbox games a nature based open world game could be fun.

VC1 is a lot more grounded than the sequels as I understand it, so your description is more or less accurate. The sequels were released exclusively on Vita, which kind of... changed the focus a bit.

A proper VC1 sequel would be amazing.

It's like a big fantasy mix of different parties of WWII and even the Cold War. You are Poland, the Netherlands and Switzerland(?) basically. And there's also some Sowjet and Western Imperialism that's part of your enemies.
I think it's really well done in that respect. Also one of the very few games that actually address genocide and call it that.

By the way this has no direct relevance to Giant Bomb but I wanted to talk quickly about a game I picked up on the Steam Sale.

It's called Mad Game Tycoon and it's basically another of those Tycoon games that popped up after Kairosoft's Game Dev Story. It's... alright. It's got a very addictive game loop which I know because I've played it for 12 hours in a day, but at the end of the day I'm not super satisfied with it and I'll tell you why.

It's not the obvious things which is that the UI is godawful and the aesthetics are horrendous. It's managable is what I'll say (even though the graphs page has almost zero useful graphs, keeping track of projects is complete garbage, etc, etc).

The real problem I feel is kinda like with what Game Dev Story eventually gets to, which is that you never really feel like you're in part of a larger game world. There's other companies producing games and licencing shit from you and making sequels to their own games and beating the crap out of you at the Yearly Game Awards but somehow you never really feel like they're actually there and doing anything.

It's probably at least partially a function of games being made out of an assemblage of stats and elements (you can add features to various game engines but as far as I can tell it doesn't matter if you add split-screen multiplayer to a simulation game...), but I wish there was, like... fake gaming magazines that would pop up through the ages with fake headlines and shit based off the world, or twitter feeds, or people trying to poach your devs or splitting off into indie teams, or all the kinds of stuff that makes it feel like you're simming inside a bigger, larger system.

I guess it's a side effect of management games where you're making 'products' and not managing something more directly service- or customer- related (like Theme Parks or Hospitals or Railroads or even Cities).

Anyway I got to about 2011 and started self-publishing but I think I'm done with it now.

They should play the Japanese version of one of the N64 Mario Parties in Japan, and on the most confusing map, so they're treated with bullshit they don't even understand.

Valkyria is a mix of various World War 2 (not 1) themes with some JRPG tropes and a touch of supernatural elements. Overall it's pretty grounded (for a JRPG) if a bit lighthearted and corny sometimes.

The story is self contained without any hints towards a sequel.

It's also a really good and unique SRPG.

does manufacturing still break the game? last time I played it you could just stop making your own games and manufacture them for other people for free money. so lucrative that making games was pointless.

too late i'm playing trillion god of destruction which seems to be some kind of hybrid srpg/princess maker, except all the princesses are demons and apparently blatent stereotypes (which I'm okay with right now)

I think so. I only just put money into manufacturing and made my own game and got pretty high up in profit.

Also there's nothing really to do with your bucketloads of money aside from make my own console which, given the rewards aren't very... rewarding, didn't seem like a good reason to keep playing.

Had a pretty fun 12 hours though.

I've been playing CoD's campaign and so far i'm enjoying it more than Titanfall 2.

Also, Modern Warfare is still pretty great.

I watched the entirety of the Gears Holiday Special...Most of it is a blur, outside of the horn, Jason seemingly sucking from start to finish, and the 2hrs of them doing Wave 50 and failing miserably. It's sad because it's the worst and longest piece of Holiday content they did this year.

As for the top 10, It's not bad but I still feel that Overwatch is too high on the list. I did agree with Jeff's arguments for the top two, tho I don't think one should have been disqualified from the top spot over lackluster MP when the SP campaign was absolutely perfect. The lack of fighting over the bottom three was kind of disappointing, mainly because Dan stopped fighting for placement once he got the #10 spot he had been crying for the hour prior.

GB was completely right in their claims of Hottest Mess of the year. The other examples mentioned in that article read like someone from Breitbart who is upset that they lean liberally by not going after anti-Trump creators or including Zoe Quinn as part of their GOTY lists. Fuck. Right. Off.

Edit: Oh...of course that's their stance. Had to google them to find out they were libertarian/conservative blog. Of course everything on their site reads that way.

That is a good point. Dan said he likes songs about drinking, fighting, and kissing ladies, but that song is about a man at a bar who makes no mention of drinking, is trying to avoid a fight, and makes sure to point out that he didn't kiss any ladies.

Dan is very complicated.

I had no idea what that song was so I had to look it up on YouTube. Hot take: Dan's version wasn't as far off as I expected.
