I'm excited for the 12th but constantly it hits me that this event / switch launch window will be full of wii u ports, Ports are okay and all but please I hope they don't focus on the ports too much

just looking at rumors and just pure speculations there is

Mario kart 8.5
Splatoon 1.5
smash 4.5
Skyrim Port

all pretty much confirmed

then we have the other rumors which are 100% possible imo

Hyrule Warriors Ultimate edition
Xenoblade X port
Pokken Arcade Edition

list is pretty good if you haven't played these games but I did, and am not looking forward to playing these games again. even if they get some updates like kart/splat. I'm afraid switch launch window is going to be plagued with these ports releases leading to a drought, for me.

Hope they release these ports inbetween months of New games releases. like zelda march, kart port april, may New game ( mario rabbids ) or new 3D mario then smash port next month and so on

Nintendo had to learn how to use shaders and deferred rendering...Well..The learning process is over! Got another excuse?

Was I making an excuse?

I don't think there's much controversy in saying you can push out more games in a shorter time span if they are not super graphically demanding, requiring a ton of high quality assets.

It's a business decision. Nintendo leverages that with using distinct art styles.

Yesterday NateDrake asked what IP would piss people off the most if it was revived as a Nintendo Exclusive.

"CHRONO TRIGGER"

Imagine a Chrono Trigger, FFVI and OoT Tripple remake RPG Collection as a Switch Exclusive. People would lose their minds

I will probably get a switch when it hits $99.

I'd get a switch the day CT came out.

So whichever comes first.

Was it possible for any of you guys to pre-order switch already? Or has no one opened pre-orders yet?

No pre-orders yet, although if you're able to watch the Switch Presentation keep an eye out for online retailers opening pre-orders as well as the next day.

If it hits you like a ton of bricks then you've been in denial for a long time. There's no bizarre reason at all, just good old logic. That feeling in your gut is reality.

Going by every piece of footage that Nintendo has released of games supposedly running on Switch, we have yet to see anything that wouldn't run on a marginally more powerful Wii U. Nintendo has little to gain from the Switch reveal video hiding the true power of the console. The most graphically intensive game showed was a Skyrim remaster.

Then you take in price and battery life considerations. Then you look at everything Nintendo has said about their approach to competing with Sony and MS.

There's no reason to believe that the Switch is going to be in the same league graphically as PS4/XB1, and plenty of reasons to believe otherwise.

You think Skyrim looked more graphically intensive than the new 3D Mario? I mean, even MK8 and Zelda looked way better... or like, pretty much any other Wii U game, including Xenoblade X.

I think 250 dollars is too expensive ...

For it reaches brazilian places in a good price it needs to be like 50 dollars and high avaliability because even the NES Mini you can only find like costing a kidney

Depends on where you are, most countries haven't opened preorders yet but EB Games here in Australia have had preorders unofficially available since the Switch was known as the NX.

The NES classic would still cost 600R$ even if it was free because Brazil

What? Are you really suggesting it should cost $50?

Also officially Nintendo doesn't sell consoles in Brazil anymore, so it's not really something they care.

They don't have to match or exceed other games draw distances.

You'll probably be waiting for a long time then

I have faith in a CT sequel/remake. Regardless of where it goes.

As for the price point, I'm kinds done with getting Nintendo systems, have it collect dust while I wait for the next Nintendo game.

I'll pick one up in 4-5 years, and play all the games at once. Hoping it goes to 99 by then.

Didn't Wii hit 99?

Wii Mini was $99 in 2012, six years after the console released. It was also a really gutted edition of the console.

Does it cost a certain amount of money to pre-order it? Like at Gamestop?

No one has any right to be pissed at Nintendo for securing remakes of games that originated in their old console.

I keep seeing remake talk. Are there legitimate remake rumors going around for FF6, CT or other things?

I'm still hoping for Amazon to open preorders immediately after the presentation.
I do not think that I will go to sleep until they open up and I secure one. Good luck everyone.

I don't see it being an issue. I'll stroll into walmart at 1:30am and pick up a unit. Didn't they say 2mil for the end of March?

It's not impossible for it to happen, it's just rather unlikely

Well, if you're only buying them for Nintendo games, I can understand that. I mean, if I only bought Nintendo games on their handhelds or consoles, I'd rarely touch them myself. Good thing their handhelds have good third party support

The Wii took like 5-6 years to hit the price and it was a shitty version of the original Wii, without backwards compatibility or GameCube ports for controllers. Now, I don't think a late version of the Switch will be shitty as their handhelds are almost always improved later on

I feel like it had to and so has the 3ds but the Wii U has had very little in terms of deals if that means anything.

Can't believe this is the last week of Switch rumors and leaks until the actual Presentation.

This is crazy. We almost made it SwitchGAF

I feel so bad for the gamers in Brazil that tax they have on video games is freaking outrageous. It doesn't help that Nintendo haven't even bother to support South America in general.

Yep

https://www.google.com/amp/www.tech...est-rumor-is-to-be-believed.htm?client=safari

Geno said it and I guess at the time he said the NX had haptic feedback sticks, Bluetooth with any smart device and AR capabilities.
Y'know, it actually still fits with what the Switch is.

There are apparently crazy rumble motors in the JoyCons. A report about the Rabbids RPG said that there will be points during the game where they "infest" your system and you can "feel" them inside the JoyCons with the new rumble.

The AR also kind of syncs up with the patent for the Switch headset. We know the Switch itself doesn't have a camera in it, but maybe the headset does and when docked into the headset, the USB-C gives it access to said camera for AR games? People have said the screen isn't high enough quality and the system isn't powerful enough for VR with the headset, but if there's a camera in there (I don't know if the patent detailed this or not, or if it's literally just an empty shell you strap to your face) then it could actually be an AR headset, not a VR one. Maybe Luigi's Mansion 3 would come bundled with it? That would be extremely cool but I also feel like something surely would have leaked about it by now, right?

Why does this game get so much hell, aside from not being a proper StarFox game? I may have been biased, but this was my first Zelda SF game, and I still look back on it fondly and frequently replay it. The combat is admittedly simply but effective, the graphics and smoothness still hold up today, the story is rather engaging in my humble opinion, and the mechanics are all what people would expect and want from an adventure platformer.

Sure, I won't deny it has some significant flaws, but outside of the associated franchise name I still think it one of Rare's strongest outputs. I'd love to see this type of game show up on Switch to represent it's hardware strengths as well as the creativity of its software teams

StarFox Adventures has THE biggest cock tease blue balls final boss fight I have ever witnessed in any game ever. I really liked it till then but fuck them to hell for doing what they did. I was furious.

This is the entire console. Everything is in that. The dock etc. are just charging cradle and the way the tablet communicates to TV.
This is so crazy to me still. I know it's not as powerful as the PS4 or XBone but it's probably close and yet it's so fucking small. I mean even compared to the Wii U it's just miniscule.

To add to it, the console seems like the perfect summation of all of Nintendo's philosophies: Motion control, small, (hopefully) quiet, multiplayer focus, good enough graphics, etc.

It's the chose one.

I wouldn't be surprised if it had to do with Rare being the ones that developed it. There was such a high expectation of quality for their games that the ones that failed to reach it (Star Fox Adventures, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and DK64 come to mind) were lambasted. It's a shame too as it (and the other two I listed) are decent games.

I was referring to texture quality and LOD, I'm aware frame rate is improved. Can I get a link that shows definitively that draw distance was improved? (EDIT: found an image, didn't know it was that improved, but textures from a distance do still look bad) The temple of time looked somewhat clearer, but LOD didn't look better at all since the skull cave/hills continued to look like ooze due to a lack of fine detail, while grass pop in also seemed around the same as, if not worse than, the Wii U version, which is what I was referring to most when it came to LOD. The game also seemed to still be using bilinear filtering for the textures, which looked very muddy.

I'm really hoping the jaggies that were easily visible were due to the projected image being so large, but I don't think it's a guarantee. I'm honestly just expecting locked 30fps for now.

It's a WiiU game getting a port. It's not a ground up developed title. They are gonna do some easy things like increase the resolution, increase the draw distances and lock the framerate. They aren't gonna downgrade the game (I dont even know where you are getting any of this frankly) and they are not going to make any big upgrades either.

I don't get why this is the game people think are really gonna show off the capabilities of the system.

Bingo. Zelda shouldn't be used as a representative to illustrate the capabilities of Switch. It's going to happen, and the game may be impressive enough to 'Wow' some people, but Nintendo really needs a visual showpiece on Thursday to show the strength of Switch. They can't lean on Wii U ports/remasters. 3D Mario or some impressive third-party game would serve this role nicely.

A new Metroid Prime by Retro could be that graphical showpiece.
I can dream.
