Gravity Rush 2 Review Thread

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
How long is the game compared to the original one?

I just want to know if the ending I'd satisfying. GR1 was great, but it felt like the game completely forgot how to write a cohesive story, and just ended with no conclusion.

Good reviews is good news. Though I never finished the first one, mainly because I sucked at it, I really liked the style. Moreover I applaud giving niche games like these a chance, when it pays off there is a bigger chance of this happening more.

I only played on medium. Would have to test that, but the difficulty can be switched on the fly in the pause menu I think.

True. The game being pretty easy was one of my few concerns the first time around, so I'll definitely look forward to making it as hard as possible, and seeing how that goes.

Read the reviews then lol

8/10 sounds like a great result to me.

For the folks lucky enough to have played it, how's performance on the base-model PS4? I know a lot of people had concerns based on the demo.

I know bullet points say the plot is better, but if it ends with yet another sequel hook, I might get burned with the series. That's why I'm specifically asking about that (at least if I know before-hand, I can lower my expectations on that front).

I have only played on the Pro... and it runs fine there. Haven't noticed any problems.

There was one specific boss fight where the framerate would break during a particular attack, but otherwise no problems that I remember,

Fwiw that demo was 6 months old and was based on the e3 demo. And yeah kitao did tweet that they made further performance improvements to the game

If this is "GR1 but better and prettier" it's definitely gonna be among my favourite games of this generation.

The first one was such a surprise to me - such a charming game. I didn't think i'd enjoy the (no offense) "Anime-style" storytelling / characters so much.

You will be
pissed, and then surprised, and then hopefully satisfied
.

At least, if you take what your given in the context of being a Gravity Rush story.

Noice. I knew the game would turn out well.

You never know, it could've gotten less than a 70 Metacritic score D:

Anime/Anime-style storytelling can be done well haha

This response is enough. I'll enjoy through game regardless, let's hope the ending doesn't let me down.

I can’t summon the necessary bile to truly dislike Gravity Rush 2, nor can I summon the necessary warmth to love it. In the aftermath of its grand finale I was exhausted in every way, happy to have gone on such an epic journey and just as happy that it was finally over.
From the Kotaku review.
This is basically how i felt playing GR1 remastered.

You get these highs, but then the lows (mostly controls related) hit you in the gut and remind you not to enjoy yourself too much.

I'm glad Sony took a chance on a sequel, even upgrading the series from a vita exclusive.

It won't sell amazingly, i know that. but more experimental games like this are needed

It's all about diversity, a niche audience is still an audience and providing a diverse range of titles helps in keeping a wider audience invested in the platform rather then investing and relying only on the heavy hitters i.e. Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Welp, read everything. Now all I can do is wait for the game... (And more reviews)

Next up is for Nier to do well...

Thanks folks. I was considering making GR2 my excuse to buy a Pro if the performance wasn't so hot, but it seems like that might not be necessary.

I was never really worried (I found the complaints about the demo to be kinda overblown) but I'm glad things seem good for launch.

I really want everyone to know how much more Titanfall 2 sold than Nioh. It was a staggering amount.
I'm sure they'll sell a couple of thousand copies at that price but we all know that's dropping to £25 by march.

It will only ship couple of thousands, GR1 sold out now and price go up

How is £46 stupidly high?? Wtf
You can find around 44 but still wtf

Well the first game and its re-mastered counterpart didn't exactly sell a lot. You would think that Sony would try and price the sequel much lower for newcomers and the hard-core that brought the originals.

How's the IQ on the Pro? Better than the demo? Apparently the demo's build has no Pro support.

The game supports 4K on the Pro..

I only have a 1080p TV right now.. and I never played the demo. But the IQ looks ok to me.. I am not a person that notices stuff like that.. because I am to old, and the performance matters more to me.

Or Sony thinks lower price wouldn't drive newcomers and instead wants to profit from the smaller hardcore base.

Looking solid, I was honestly expecting more mild reviews but the world and and play style would've sold me regardless.

oh, nice, very positive reviews

Polygon, for example:

Coming in fresh, I found Gravity Rush 2 so bright and original that I'm still playing it, even after the end credits. Gravity Rush 2 has its stumbles — the camera often feels at complete odds with what the game requires of you, a real problem in a game that so aggressively eschews standards physics. But even with so many directions to fall head over heels in, it lands on its feet — just like Kat.

Gravity Rush 2 is 2017’s first excellent game
