Switch up on Amazon.de - 329,99€

I totally expected this be over 300€.

It's Nintendo, it doesn't matter what hardware they're selling.

They could sell you a piece of Nintendo themed cardboard for 30€.

In the worst case scenario they will do an anther 3DS ambassador program.

The most surprising thing is that Nintendo now has paid online multiplayer.

Didn't expect that they would actually do that with their currently subpar online service.

It's gonna be a mess if they're not adopting modern online services like XBL or PSN.

I don't know for your country but Spain is 329.99€.
I'm positive the price will drop before launch. A smaller group on GAF are on freak out mode (or in a few cases concern trolling) as if they never experienced a new Nintendo hardware launch. This ain't my first rodeo.

Hi hope that too, of course is not like 30€ would make me skip launch, though it's too weird, at the very least i hope we'll get an explanation from Nintendo or retailers about why this happened, i can't recall a recent console which costed more than the usual 1:1 conversion with the $ price, even WiiU was 299$ and 299€ for base model and 3DS 249$ and 249€

I really don't know why it's so expensive in Europe...or the US.

Japan seems to be a fair chunk cheaper based on the current exchange rate..even taking differing tax rates into account.

A Yen to dollar/euro conversion show the Japanese price works out at $261 and 246 euros (with a tax rate of 20% that should be 295 euros)

I actually liked the presentation by I don't buy anything gaming-related for over 299 anymore, doesn't matter what it is.
Hopefully some store makes some launch offer and cuts those extra 30€.

Still thinking about that GameStop Trade-In Deal, but can I be sure that I'll get my Switch on release date? Pre-Ordered on Saturn.de for a Pick Up on Release with a confirmed March 3rd Release, but I'm a bit paranoid if I'll really get it so I just want to make things sure hahaha.

Anyone here took advantage/thinking about taking advantage of the Trade-In Deal?

modern?
xbl and psn arent modern at all:

no refund,
no sharing across your devices, weird choices of being online, the dashboard is slow as fuck and yeah dont forget about all the time being offline, while the servers are maintained.

steam and itunes are doing it much better.

oh and dont forget about the price policies.

sony got better, but its still way to expensive or price-sturdy.

It seems only 309 € here in the netherlands. I wonder why the difference in price.

you can rip off german people more easily.

"Let's buy a unique gaming experience with no games for 399€!" "The Switch is 329€" "I'm talking Playstation VR."

Seriously, the price for Europe is ridiculous. No one will get this for their children in March, even with Eastern around the corner. I'll wait till the holiday season for the package deals with Mario or Zelda (as I need two Switch(es) for me and my son).

It's becoming a tradition for Nintendo to go in with a high price (N64, 3ds come in mind) and drop the price after a few months. Early Nintendo adopters are usually screwed.

Just noted that Gamestop in Ireland has now adjusted their price to €329.99 up from €319.99 earlier this morning. Figure I'd point that out to anyone that put in a pre-order from them here.

I'm not expecting Nintendo's onlinr server coming near Steam anytime soon but if they expect people paying for online they need to (or rather should) be at a similar quality like Sony or Microsoft online network.

At least that is what I would think of it.

But Nintendo was always a special snowflake in price, hardware specs and especially online services.

Way too expensive for me. I hoped it would be 249€ or less. Had the chance to preorder but i just dont care enough to spent 329€ when there are so many good games coming out for my ps4pro :/

It's absolutely not horrible, if you have a solid internet connection. Great for playing on vacations or during travelling in a hotel.

love me some remote play.

and we Vita users are used to these prices .. damn, 249€ for the non-3g model without a memory card or game was really something ..

Prordered the neon one. I can understand all the caution and prejudice but man I think that machine is just neat.

I love Nintendo taking advantage of me *shrug*

I won't be too surprised if they chose to artificially limit the stock again like for the Wii and the NES Mini.

Actually a tiny bit cheaper than I expected. $300 + VAT (19% in Germany) is €335.

Fully expecting 3500 SEK (around €370) here in Sweden. We're used to getting fucked over with this stuff.

How big is the VAT in Sweden? Doesn't your government cover healthcare from that which is the reason for it being rather high?

Lol almost 5000 SEK if you want to play Zelda with a traditional controller at launch.

Honey, I pre-ordered both colours and have to decide which one to keep. Buy maybe I'll just buy grey joycons and go with neon.

I missed this -_- Well, I preordered at Saturn now. If it does not work out, I'll play Zelda on WiiU first and wait for the Switch until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Splatoon 2 hit.

It is the same base price here (The Netherlands). I expected it to be 300 euro's but no, 330 is 80 euro's more expensive than my buy/no buy pricepoint (250 euro's).

It seems only 309 € here in the netherlands. I wonder why the difference in price.

Not everywhere though. Gamemania, Bart Smit, Intertoys etc. list it as 329. Mediamarkt seems to be an anomaly rather than the norm (or other stores have 309 as well). I assume the advisory price is 329 given most stores (to my knowledge) feature that price.

Preordered at Saturn too...this weekend will be used to sell all Wii U, Wii and 3DS stuff... fresh start it will be...

Why are we comparing things to the US price, given the historically low euro-dollar conversion rate? Wouldn't it make more sense to look at the euro-yen conversion rate?

The price will go down to 299 in the week before launch.
No fixed price means a battle between Metro-Group and Amazon.

Wasn´t it the same with the New 3DS XL? I remember it´s price was lowered a few days before launch.

I sold my Wii U for 170 Euro and I have an amazon gift voucher of 180 Euro. So Switch is for free for me. Yes I could use the money differently, but I guess I am a Fanboy? 299 would be the perfect price, but 30 Euro difference is not that much. I also assume, that the price could drop couple of days before release. It was the case for the 3ds, I even got a free trash game, which sold directly.

The price for games seems to high and also for the pro controller. I don't know how the new one handles and if I need to buy the pro? Boom way above 400.

I am also worried about the color, I ordered neo and from some angles it looks interesting, but not sure if I will like.

... i keep looking at my Amazon confirmation mail, and i feel kinda weird.

I'm not hyped, i'm rather ... indifferent?
I've given in to the fact that i'm going to eventually need the latest Nintendo console and Nintendo handheld. So why not get it day 1, the difference in cost to maybe 1 year later is rather negligible with regards to what i'm willing to spend on entertainment. And i really really wanna play the new Zelda game day 1.

But it's a good reason to try to get rid of my Wii U right now.
I hate clutter, and the fact that the Switch is a relatively small device is a definite plus. Also, i can finally get rid of all the wiimotes i own.

I'm buying this much more as a "Nintendo Vita" / 3DS successor than as a new Wii U, i feel.
I am seriously hoping that Nintendo bundling their handheld and home console offerings onto one device will make the device a better value proposition and less of a dust-collecting piece of furniture than my Wii U.

pre ordered a second time

yeah but you cant play the PS4 on the go (except that horrible remote play thing over PS Vita)

Slobbering that Switch knob. The PS4 is a better value proposition than the Switch and is cheaper to boot. When will you be preordering a third time?

unless what you value isn't purely console hardware horsepower, but also portability. Like, if you commute 2 hours a day, or travel a lot ...

i don't disagree with you, but i still think it's foolish to compare it to only the PS4 and not at least to (PS4+Vita)*some_coefficient

GameStop Germany still lets you reserve one for 329 euro, but with "delivery time unknown"

I went through the process to see what's up, and the extra 30 euro vs. the expected 299 seems to be a reservation charge FWIW. You'd pay 299 in the store when you pick it up.

Don't know if that's the same for all stores and countries but the more you know.

Have both colors pre-ordered on Amazon.

Once I have decided on the color I want the other one is up for grabs...
