Wii U pro controller may as well not have rumble. It's the shittest rumble implementation ever. So weak/It does.
I promised this thing to my kid as I refused to buy the WiiU and now I'm gagging a little. I envisioned having the neighborhood munchkins over for some local multiplayer and thought I'd pick up a few extra controllers........yeah, not so much. They can fuck right off with that pricing structure.
I'm just catching up on stuff this morning, but what technology is even in the pro controller to warrant that price?
Dude, you really want that pro controller.
I think the 2-pack of Joy-Cons for $80 is fair but $70 for the Pro Controller is ridiculous.
Wait, so you guys are saying the grip included with the system isnt able to charge your Joycons? It's just an empty shell that you cant plug anything into?
The Neon Switch only comes with one of each color. What if you want a fully blue or red console? That's the actual reason they're selling them separately. Or, y'know, if one breaks cause you didn't wear a wrist strap and wound up throwing it into your TV screen.Nintendo knows that them small ass controllers are gonna get misplaced and lost. That's why they selling left and right ones separately as an option. lol. $50 though? Ouch

That's what i thought too but then realised Joy-con grips and wriststrap shells are sold separately (Wii-remote covers are included ffs). And you're going to need a separate charger (or even Switch) to get more than 2 Joy-cons ready for a session.
They supposedly learned from WiiU/3ds pricing but here we are. Console is priced the same as WiiU basic and higher than 3ds, handheld game prices are out (also 60$ for ARMS? Really?!), peripherals are the most expensive they've ever been (and we all know Nintendo controllers never go down in price).
I'll wait it out for a year. Hopefully they'll change things or reduce prices (and hopefully cancel the online subscription).
So you can only charge them on the switch? Or will the shell have a usb port?Yeah sadly.

Listen, maybe if you only want to feel 2 ice cubes, then it could be cheaper, but personally, I want to differentiate between up to 3 ice cubes. Sorry you don't see the value in that.
The Joy-con looks about as joyful as peeling cloves of garlic. After one or two cloves I have to stretch my hands out.
Really just wondering how many games will support the pro controller. Noticed them specifically name check it during splatoon 2 last night, but nothing else. Not sure if it's worth picking up yet. Does anyone know if it works with zelda?
It'll work with pretty much everything (save for titles like 1 2 Switch).Really just wondering how many games will support the pro controller. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that this:
by itself, is $50. What the fuck. It's utter lunacy.
I don't think you'll ever find me saying that considering all of the technology in the Joy Cons that their price is unreasonable. But what I'm going to be saying a lot is that I think that in light of that price all of that technology is a mistake.Again, not saying it's an ideal price, but some of the reactions in this thread are a little crazy. $80 for two is a hard pill to swallow indeed but that's also the price of two Wii Remotes but with better tech inside and analog sticks standard.

I agree to be honest. I think the HD Rumble is really cool, and I'm excited to se it used (I like the idea of the Rabbids or, hopefully, Pikmin "infesting" the controllers) but the IR camera, IMO, is utterly worthless. It's really cool technology for sure but I can't imagine any practical gameplay uses for it outside of minigames, and I'm all but positive 3rd party devs will almost never use it, and Nintendo themselves didn't even demo any uses for it. Complete waste of tech that will jack up the price and never be used. If they had gotten rid of that and shaved off an additional $10 from the price that would have been really nice. I think it's the first time I've ever seen Nintendo introduce new controller tech that I've immediately been like "What's the benefit of this and how will they even use it?"
And to add to my previous point, I cannot believe that Nunchucks are still $20. An analog stick, two buttons, and an accelerometer in a plastic shell for $20. They should have dropped to $10 a long, LONG time ago considering they came out ten years ago.
ps4 controller is 60 for a lot of features nintendo is advertising. This:
Initially $40, and to add an analog stick and two more buttons to it cost an additional $20.
Now take into account that the JoyCon is both smaller, and includes more impressive (relative term) technology, for $10 more that the Wii Remote alone.
So it's actually $10 less than the equivalent Wii Remote and Nunchuck combo, while having more complex technology inside.
Again, not saying it's an ideal price, but some of the reactions in this thread are a little crazy. $80 for two is a hard pill to swallow indeed but that's also the price of two Wii Remotes but with better tech inside and analog sticks standard.

Ugh. And the pro controller is basically mandatory for me because the Joy-cons + grip look uncomfortable as fuck.
$370 for a console with only Zelda at launch and an online fee. Not a good look.
WTF Nintendo?? $10 price difference from the Pro controller to the DS4/XB1 controller? Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. I want to want this so bad but god damn they are making it hard.
...A lot of the features Nintendo is advertising in a single Joy-con.
I think part of the problem for me, and I'm sure others, is that it's a real hard sell to even consider a single joycon as a complete, individual controller package due to size and just overall button sparseness. Especially given that the grip with a pair of joycons hooked in does actually look like a proper controller. A single joycon looks like half a controller, and optics certainly matter.
