Where, oh where, is the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller?

I've got my eye on the Hori controller. They've got a good history with pads and it could be a bit cheaper so if that's available close to launch or after and winds up being less pricey, I might just snag one up.

Yeah, I was looking at that. GAME UK have it up for £28 which is immediately more palatable than £60.
How much is it? It looks better than the actual Switch controller.

£28 in the UK. Dunno about anywhere else.

If this has gyro and Hi-Fi Rumble, then I'll snag this one instead.

Where does this plug into? The USB on the side of the dock? If so that sounds less than ideal

You just charge it like you do everything else.

I don't get why NOA is holding back preorders for the
Switch Pro-Controller? So far I only see this available on 3 online sites. eBay has it for the low price of $200, lol, Amazon.com/UK has it for 99.00, and Zavvi which is for US orders has it available for $74.99+2.99 shipping. I don't know much about them or if they are trustworthy. I was hoping Amazon/US GameStop, or Best Buy would have it up for preorder soon.

Quick question. Did NOA hold back the release of the Wii U Pro Controller at the Wii U launch? I was thinking it wasn't available or they undershipped it at launch and was very hard to find. Can anyone confirm this. If so I hope they don't repeat the same mistake.

They might not have estimated figures yet and are still working on launch logistics before giving retailers allocations. There is still quite a bit of time before launch.

I don't know about anyone else, but I had to wait a few weeks before I got my Wii U Pro controller as they were out of stock essentially everywhere.

Real talk: I can't stand it when the clerks act like any item without a bunch of posters and fanfare must not exist.

They told me they could reserve the master edition of Zelda BOTW online. They couldn't and told me they would call me. As I was walking out they said to reserve on the website myself. Gamestop Clerks are terrible human beings.

It was available for preorder at the EB I preordered my Switch for $40 (Canadian) so probably $30 US. Good price, but I'm pretty sure this is a barebones pad with no motion controls or NFC features.

You can take the D-pad off, looks like. Doesn't look like it's wireless, though. I was under the impression it was. :(

What's wrong with hooking up to the TV, receiver, or the system in handheld mode? Headphone jacks for audio isn't a normal feature in game controllers.

PS4 and Xbox One controllers both have headphone jacks. How is this not normal?

As for hooking up to a receiver the dock will be by the TV and the controller will be wireless. It would be easier to just plug into the controller instead of running a long cable.

What the.

Removable d-pad, turbo button, not wireless...is this image even official? It doesn't have the translucent face, either.

Convience. I can hook my nice stereo headset to my Xbox one and ps4 controllers. It allows me a nice stereo sound without disturbing the misses and able to play in front of a TV.

True. The waiting game is the hardest part though. Once Nintendo opens up about the release schedule of upcoming games that feel better with a d-pad and especially their VC plans I will want a Pro Controller. If Bomberman is any good, which is a launch game, I think I will want a Pro Controller then.

Once games from their VC come out as well as for Sonic Mania it will truly be essential.

JB Hi-Fi in Australia is accepting preorders for the pro controller, but the retail price is TBA and you have to ask a rep in person.

The estimate on their system is $119 AUD. I just put a tentative pre-order down half an hour ago.

Exactly. I work days and play games at night, so I always have headphones on.

When I played Wii U games, I always had to run the audio through my PC, then to a wireless headset.

Ok. I owned a PS4 for 2 years and never knew that was for something besides headsets.

How does that Hori controller work with the gyro stuff?

Peeps are saying it doesn't have all the extra doo-dads. Which wouldn't bother me to be honest, only game I feel where playing with a conventional pad with gyro would be missed is Splatoon 2, but I'd just use a joycon in each hand to play that game with gyro.

It's a useful feature. You can get all game/system audio through the controller and it even mutes the sounds that play through the controller speaker if you have it enabled.

I have a feeling this'll be like the Wii U launch where it was way harder to get a Pro Controller than it was to even get a Wii U itself. When I grabbed my Wii U, there were about 3-5 other people milling about also getting consoles, but I had to battle tooth and nail to get the last Pro Controller.

If you spot a pre-order for this, go for it cuz you may not see another one for months after launch.

Given that the joycons lack a D-pad, this Pro controller is even more necessary than previous generations. Frustrating.

Edit: oh, and that the joycons use up battery power is another reason this is needed.

I hardly used my Wii U pro controller though. Perhaps I should repurpose it as a PC controller.

I was a little upset that gamestop had no idea what the controller even was im hoping i can track one down launch day as the controller looks like the best way to play in tv mode.

Well the Amazon US site is fucked anyways right now with how they are even listing some things, so i'm user over the next couple weeks this will all be sorted out.

Yeah pretty much this, still waiting on Has Been Heroes & Super Bomberman R to be put up on Amazon for preorders. Even their Dragon Quest Heroes listing has a typo in it, so I guess we'll be waiting for a bit.

As long as it's an option to not have the doodads.

Would be nice to have an extra Mario Kart controller or something.

I 'm hoping that there is a deal of some sort before launch. Newegg sometimes has $XX off coupons.

On a side note- I hear some horror stories here regarding Gamestop and it makes me feel like I have the gold standard with my local gamestop. They are very knowledgeable in a good way.

Is this why everyone wants the pro controller?

Maybe someone will make a left joycon with a dpad.

It's why I want it, that's for sure. If they sell a standalone joycon with a D-pad instead of the buttons, i'll get that too. Plus I can leave my joycons on the main unit to charge while I use the Pro Controller at home.
