Apple AirPods | OT | Try not to lose them

I've been using these for about two weeks now and they are amazing.

They don't look bad like people have been saying and they're well worth the money for me. They are near impossible to fall out of my head... the EarPods were like this for me too but these are even better.

The sound isn't that great but that's not something I'm worried about in the early stages of a wireless future. These things made me realise how much hassle and how stupid having a wire connected to the phone at all times is. They also allow you to do things that are not possible with wired EarPods.

Overall, I'm amazed.

Is there a solution for people who have had problems with the current wired Apple earphones? Is there like a rubber I can buy to put on these to help them not falling out of my ears?

I would love to get these at some point, but I straight up can't since I know they'll fall out of my ears if they're similar to the current wired ones Apple includes with the iPhone.

Any other owners care to report in on battery life of the case when the AirPods are inside and fully charged?

I got a pair two weeks ago, and the case would drain on its own about 1-2% per hour when the AirPods were inside but already fully charged. I took them back to Apple because they said that wasn't right. I had them exchanged for another pair, and on this new set, the case sometimes would stay at the same charge level for 12+ hours, but other times it will drain 20% in an hour or two.

A friend of mine has a pair for about a month and says his case battery reliably drains about 5% every 12 hours.

So I love the freedom that no wires gives me, but these case battery issues are a drag. I need to be able to leave these in my bag for a few days and not worry about coming back to dead batteries.

There are, but I find that because there are no wires constantly tugging on them no matter how slightly, they actually stay in place better than EarPods for me.

You're extolling the virtues of wirelessness, and nothing specifically about the earpods. Get some 20 dollar earpods knockoffs, since Bluetooth wireless earpods are what are amazing you.

Honestly love the features the Airpods have but I'm a little weary at the price and the thought of losing them. Excited to see what Apple and competitors will offer in the future.

They work with the Vita just fine. I haven't tried a PSTV. Like most other non-Sony official Bluetooth headsets, they do not work with PS4.

Oh wow, really? In that case I will order now. I wonder if they will work with Switch as well.

Is there a way to easily cycle between Apple/non-Apple device sources? I assume there isn't. How does that process work?

It's the same as any other Bluetooth device. You may have to do a shorter version of the pairing sequence.

In theory, they should work with the Switch, as long as it supports Bluetooth (which I don't think I've seen 100% confirmed), assuming Nintendo doesn't implement any BS to try to limit what sets of headphones work with the system.

The amount of people who approach me in public when I have the airpods in and somehow dont understand that the iPhone 7 has headphones blows my mind.

One guy assumed I had the 7 because he thought the airpods were the only way to listen to music. Then this lady today almost the same thing, she didnt know the iPhone 7 came with wiredheadphones.

my only real issue with these is that I find myself weirdly self conscious while wearing them. I feel like people don't realize I'm wearing them and try to talk to me or they realize I'm wearing them and say something like "oooooo are those the weird airpods??"

I wish these would be in-ears instead of the one size fits all EarPod design. I love, love, love the design and tech behind them but like the EarPods, they hurt my ears after 30 mins.
Had to return and will hold out for beats X or a new design in the future (will never happen)

I ordered a pair of these over a month ago on the Apple website. My card was charged today, does that mean they are shipping soon?

The arrival estimate still says 2/01/17.

...hate me...
How is the MacOS integration? Was thinking about picking these up for my MacBook Pro.

It’s good, they can be picked right off the volume dropdown menu, and when you put them in your ears they re-connect automatically to the Mac, if the Mac was the last device connected to them.

Microphone is usable, and double tap invokes Siri.

The thing is that iOS/iPhone is still the primary device they were designed for, so you can’t even check the battery level on a Mac, need to do it on iOS.

I’m not even 100% sure of that thing of them being able to to picked from the volume dropdown, if they are paired manually instead of being paired with iPhone and then that pairing is propagated via iCloud.

has anyone noticed interference when crossing busy street intersections? there is one particular spot when walking my dogs that I always get interference, goes away as soon as I've crossed the street

Has Earskinz made a version that's compatible with these yet?

honestly I doubt it's possible with all of the sensors on these things

Looks like you can use it, sensors don't work nor will it fit in the case. People have cut out inserts from the silicone at the sensors sites to make it work, again it won't fit the case. Earskinz is working on an Airpod version.

Got mine from Bestbuy today (ordered just 6 days ago) and am really impressed thus far with them. I like how they are open and still provide a pretty good sound quality. Having a conversation with them in my ears at low volumes is easy to do without issue which is great.

I'm gonna have to put them through the paces though. I have a serious problem when I go for walks and use bluetooth headphones they just don't work for me. I'm assuming it has to do with how fat I am and the water eating up all the signal, thus they cut out constantly regardless of style.

Did your card get charged before they sent it? I ordered mine about 6 days ago and the charge just went through.

Yeah they charged before they shipped. It could be an authorization, but my monies on them shipping.

I never noticed how diminished my hearing was in one ear before I got the EarPods. That or one of EarPods is a lot quieter than the other. Anyone experiencing this issue?

I was almost swayed against buying these because of the "no controls" complaints on here... but then I realized that I can control playback with my Fitbit Blaze and now I have no reason not to buy them.

I'm pretty sure Apple's basically circumventing istocknow.com by not actually listing when the AirPods are in stock in their stores anymore.

Which is probably broadly a good thing (in that it stymies resellers), but oof it makes it way more annoying to get them as a legitimate consumer.

For anyone worried about them not staying in your ear/sound quality, the Powerbeats 3 have all the same wireless functions with the new W1 chip, but sound much better and you wont lose them.

I've been using these since December and absolutely love them, even though I'm normally not a 'Beats" person I really wanted something with the W1 chip that was small and compact.

They're too pricey and not small enough. I'm waiting to see how the beatsX shake out.

Debating whether to get these or the jaybird x3. I have the x2 and like them, but they're kinda bulky and standard Bluetooth isn't all that great. Mostly interested in these because of the W1 chip and the battery case. I'll probably be okay with the sound quality. I tend to only listen to podcasts with earbuds, but I also listen to illmatic and the like about once a month, so we'll see.

IMO they're great unless you're an audiophile. I listened to Biggie's Life After Death and was pleasantly surprised by the bass.

Well if there's one thing Apple is known for, it's discounting their products by 65%.

And they're actually on the low end priced of individually wireless earbuds to start with. The cheaper ones have wires going between them.

Anyone with Airpods and Earpods, do they sound any different? Reviews seem super mixed on the topic, ranging from identical sound, to slightly better base, to significantly better sound.

You are probably also one of those people who think all apps should be free. Ridiculous.

What a ridiculous comparison. AirPods are super expensive, but suffer all the usual Bluetooth problems - connection dropping during phone calls, interference by traffic lights etc. And Apple will discount them, provided they don't sell well.

And they aren't even a product that is going to last - LiIon batteries degrade pretty quickly, even if you don't use them all that often.

I mean, I'm not sure you'll ever come back, there's been plenty of drivebys by people like you who clearly haven't read the thread so this is probably pointless but... AirPods are not super expensive and they've been selling incredibly well.
