"Gamingbolt: Xbox One sales at 26 million"

Haven't people associated with NPD said that Superdata is essentially bollocks?

I think Cosmicqueso, Aquamarine, and maybe John Harker have all said something along those lines at one time or another.

PS4 worldwide sales are up year-on-year. Not bad considering all the rumors and uncertainty surrounding a "new" model.

2015: 17.4
2016: 17.5

Has Microsoft said anything about being up in their press statements?

In the end it didn't even cause a slight confusion among the public. All the concern trolling was hilarious!

That really puts things in perspective. I remember thinking the 360 was beasting it, PS4 is just on another level this gen.

Exactly. No one would ever say the 360 did badly. The one is doing about this same. It just looks like it's getting slaughtered because the PS4 is doing PS2 style numbers. No one, not even Sony, would have predicted that. Even in their wildest, wettest dreams.

MS can't be too happy with those numbers, but honestly they aren't too bad. I'd be willing to put good money on Nintendo never making it to 26 million.

The 360 was only "beasting it" in the UK and US. Sales in the rest of the world weren't anything to shout about.

The results of the Microsoft's misgivings at the beginning of this gen combined with PlayStation absolutely killing it on the marketing and advertising front is pretty wild.

Considering the vast amount of bad press the XB1 gets/got, I'd say that's pretty good actually. It's just that the PS4 is a behemoth, in terms of sales, that it looks bad.
I disagree...

Just like 80+ million for PS3 was bad, this is bad for MS. Sony was coming off of PS2, and let a ton of market share go to a rival box when all they had to do was make PS4 back in 2005 and keep the momentum going. Instead, they through the kitchen sink into PS3 architecture and alienated developers with the design, and consumers with the price.

MS, outsold Sony like crazy in the U.S, and could have sustained that momentum in the U.S/UK at least and perhaps grown it, and royally jacked up the brand. It's bad, PS3 selling equal to 360 is bad, WiiU is bad, etc...

How bad it is, that's a debate to have, but I'm not going to say "considering all the circumstances" this is decent. It's a huge lost of potential sales.

Agreed. It's obvious the market has grown and the entirety of that growth is with Sony, but the Xbox 360 (without the RRoD) was making hand-over-fist money with services and games sales. I wonder how that looks right now for One.

Oh wow.

I presume these are correct numbers?

I dunno though, there were lots of people in the other thread trying to convince everyone that it's fact that Microsoft's goal isn't to sell anywhere but the US/UK. SO, if that's fact then 26 million is pretty good...

It was still beating the PS3 by a good 5-6 million.

Not exactly the stomp that's going on right now, but after the poor showing that was the original Xbox I'd say it was quite a leap.

Hirai is going to come on the 2017 E3 stage with slide again.

Can you believe this was an actual slide in an actual E3 presser? Man times have changed.

I don't agree with you here. Yes, Microsoft screwed up, royally, launching the XB1 with forced Kinect, poorer specs and a higher price than the PS4, but being around 2 million behind the 360 (which was considered to be a huge success for Microsoft) isn't bad in my opinion. It's not great, but it's pretty good.

I think you have to take into account the massive amount of price cutting Microsoft had to do to sell the Xbox One every holiday.

In that sense, it's not as good as it sounds.

PS4 at 30million ahead is kind of crazy.

XB1 is probably closer to 30 though imo.
Is 26 mil figure sold to customers or shipped? Sony was what, 54 mil sold at end of 2016? It's conceivable that Sony is 30 mil ahead if we are talking shipped here.

That's what happens when you are too reliant on just two countries, and Sony is dominating in both of them right now. Still not bad considering it's still relying on the US/UK.

This will all change with Scorpio the proposition will go from "We have a subset of the PS4 library, but worse" to "We have a subset of the PS4 library, but better on a TV you don't own"

Didn't PS3 even that caught up and surpassed it though? Quite impressive as it had less time on the pitch ;).

I was of the idea, that most of the money in the console market was to be made on software, services and add-ons, and not the console itself.

Let's wait for someone like EA or Ubisoft to comment on the current gen install base. SuperData has the PS4 at 55M and we know it is actually 53.4M. SuperData could be just as off with XB1.

It looks bad to me because it is always on sale or has a promo with a free game and is lowered priced than the PS4. I honestly cannot remember an extended period of time where it wasn't on sale even after the slim released it still on promo.

Do you think he will be fat Kaz again now that sales are good?

Kaz can finally afford a meal now :)
