Will be interesting to see how far Rafa and Roger get. I imagine they'll be both taken out by some random journeyman on fire at the start of the second week.

I miss when I didn't have the schedule I have to keep now and I could stay up and watch this every night.

Same here. Thankfully now we have plenty of quality highlights on youtube. Frankly I watch them more than real matches for tournaments like the australian which are late night/in the morning here.

I'm surprised people here care that much about Tennis.

We do! To be honest I'm even quite surprised how often GAF is watching matches live.

It's funny because Broady is a foot taller than Henin, lol. It's too bad Broady was slut shamed by the British Tennis Federation, because she could have won slams :(

What happened exactly ?

The best part is that Pironkova knew exactly what shot was coming but it was hit well enough she messed up the volley. Surely one of the best back-to-court tweeners ever hit in the WTA.

Very nice. Reminds me of the Schiavone one at the USO : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJaRoOz0Cak

Basically she went to party and took a silly photo next to a condom dispenser, and the pic of her was posted on social media. British Tennis federation got mad at her for doing that and stripped all of her funding and training access so she was forced to continue her career without the help of the federation.

Here's the picture that ruined her career

Puritanical Brits didn't want to be associated with a woman so lewd!

What an awful knee jerk reaction to have.

Also so happy to see De Minaur get up and win in 5 for his first round, tough 17 year old there. Great heart and character.

What the hell ? Really seems like a disproportionate reaction from the fed.

lol at the banner

Federer takes the 1st set 7-5. He needs to step it up though. Looks a bit sluggish which is expected though. Rubin is playing well.

He'll be alright. I'm more concerned about what's ahead lol

That is what I meant when I said that he will need to step it up. lol

Federer takes the second set 6-3 with some vintage shot making. Assuming he gets through this match, then he will play Berdych in the 3rd round.

That is just not fair!!! Federer beat him here last year in the QF, but he was in better form. Then possibly Nishikori, then Murray. Yikes

But first things first!

Yeah...I don't know man. He hasn't lost to Berdych in awhile, but this seems like that perfect time for that to change. I hope not lol. But then probably Nishikori after, then Murray after....woof

Going to a 5th set. They may be there for a while

I didn't know you were in America. just deal with it...after round 3 all of the American men will be out anyway and they'll go back to solely covering the big 4

Obv I'm used to it by now...but the other match has an American too, and a player people might want to see, considering the circumstances.

Fucking Isner man. Dude couldn't even break his racquet lol

Better chance of breaking his racquet than his opponent.

lol yeah, and considering...

edit: glad he took that tiebreak, I don't think I could've stayed up for the fourth. Rubin played decently for the most part. Not looking forward to Berdych next :/

Phew

Federer through to the 3rd round 7-5 6-3 7-6(3)

He was down 2-5 in the 3rd set. Dodged a bullet

Rubin won more baseline rallies than Federer, which is concerning. If Federer's serve deserts him in the next match, then he is toast if he doesn't improve.

Our girl Svitolina has a good chance to finally enter top 10, good schedule for her. I can see her reaching semi if she stays on top of her game.

Evans/Cilic is one of those games where someone who ought to be swept away is playing the game of their life. Even if Evans doesn't eventually win, he's got a lot to be proud of here.

Seems like he managed to keep his level up since US Open last year. Almost took out Wawrinka who eventually won. One of the best matches of the tournament.

Well my banner didn't brought luck to Kyrgios after all...

I'm not watching, I'm listening to the radio, and I've just seen a picture of Rublev.

He looks about fourteen.
