It also didn't help that he tried to promote sms headphones while still signed to interscope lol
He lost the biggest marketing push he had

Forgot to mention other regions really start pushing their own complete artists and ignoring 50's new music. The south had TI, Jeezy, Wayne, etc making far better radio records than 50.

IIRC the last "big" 50 record was I Get Money (2007). And that was kind of a regional pride thing in NY, similar to Beamer Benz Bentley and the last few "big" NY records around 2007-2010. Post ringtone rap era, pre Drake/Cole/Kendrick. What an ugly time for rap music...

I was just listening to GRODT couple days ago too. Still some heat on there. Too bad the documentary eclipsed it as the best g unit album tho

I remember the 50 vs. Ye thing that was going on. I thought there was no way Graduation could sell more copies than Curtis, because 50 was SO HUGE at the time. I remember the weekend The Massacre dropped, I heard eight different tracks off of the album in a half-hour span, because every car that passed by as I walked through the neighborhood was playing that shit. Yeezy seemed like such an underdog at that point, but Graduation ended up outperforming Curtis, because everyone started to feel fatigue at the same time.

As everyone else said, he really stagnated as an artist. He was very limited in terms of vocabulary and subject matter, and Em and Dre, his biggest reasons for success, quickly became far less active after GRODT.

50 killed his own career due to some of the worst diminishing returns in music. He never grew as an artist and kept trying to make the same records, especially radio wise. People tuned out. He's also very tone deaf musically.

He's closer to DMX than Jay-Z/Nas in terms of longevity or relevance.

All this plus he just burned too many bridges on the way up and when he got there man. Made way too many enemies and ppl that would sweat less if he fell.

As my grandma used to say, higher monkey climb the more his ass exposed.

Bless up.

I remember the whole lox and 50 beef, people thought 50 was going to get shot again. He was beasting at the time.

Gotta admit that Birds In The Trap is probably my guilty pleasure album of 2016; the production on some tracks, catchy hooks and simple flows pull me back again and again

Someone ready to share something shameful as well or nah

You're right. I put it in my Top 5 of 2016. I got shot down for it. Enzo enjoys this too. The album is way, way better after subsequent listens. Great production and great flows and hooks.

Enzo enjoys every dogshit thing Travis releases even when it turns out to be somehow worse than the last.

RTJ is Dark Souls ca. 2012. There's this constant need to mention them in every hip-hop related thread regardless of relevance. It doesn't make them appreciate less but holy shit is it annoying.

dude was putting stuff out left and right when he first showed up and then went completely radio silent

It seems he was focused on shows and doing an album with schlomo last year. So not releaaing whatever piece of shit that crosses your hard drive is hardly hiding in a cave.
