It looks like it was made on the cheap, like deadpool. Locales look uninspired.

It has over twice the budget of Deadpool, so the money has to have gone somewhere.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. The movie still looks really good, but I'm slightly disappointed in the setting.

Looks like we missed this plot summary that was posted by Huge a few days ago:

I won't get the Old Man Logan + Lone Wolf and Cub + The Last of Us movie I was dreaming of. But oh well, I'll probably enjoy it still.

That had very different vibes from the first trailer. The first one made it seem like they were in a post-apocalyptic world, which was cool although it didn't make sense. Now it appears they're just on the run and the only ones completely gone are mutants. I'm disappointed the world isn't as fucked as it initially seemed. Still looks good, but now what I expected based on the plot summary and the first trailer.

This might be after the X-Men are killed off but before Cable shows up.

*scratches head*

so this is a continuation of the timeline that everyone was alive in after days of future past... right?

By asking this question you've put more thought into continuity than the producers of the X-Men films. They never hold up to scrutiny. Still fun movies, but things are so messy you can't actually try to fit them all together.

Did anyone else think Laura was carrying that guy's severed head and not the handcuffs?

Because it still looks like she's carrying his severed head and then it cuts to handcuffs.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's weird how the X-Men movies are the most like the comics in that regard- impenetrable continuity and confusing time travel status quo resets.

Looks good.

A little worried that farmhouse scene is going to be the one big anchor of an action scene like Deadpool's highway and they're limited in locations, but the budget seems a higher so maybe they're just keeping stuff hidden.

There were a few shots in that original trailer that showed an ordinary looking world. It did have the post apocalyptic vibe, but if you watched a couple of times you could see it wasn't.

I think she actually was and they cut away before it was too noticeable.

On the budget, watching an interview with James Mangold he says they told the studio they weren't aiming to make a movie for everyone and got less money to work with. His head is in the right place.

I thought the same, would be bad ass if she has the head, definitely makes more of a statement than the cuffs.

The X-23 bits are a bit silly. I'm expecting it to be slightly better than the last movie (which was pretty good).

whaaaaaaat. She looks awesome.

I tried to super squint on it, and yeah I think she does. I'm just surprised the red band trailer didn't show it, but that would be a nice shocking surprise in the theater.

The new poster is going out to PR people. Expect it in the next few days. Can't post it yet as it's under embargo but it's pretty much a better version of the "Logan carrying Laura" poster with the sun rising/setting.

The comics exist in the movies? Never knew.

Kinda makes sense, it's a new timeline, where mutants were accepted by people decades earlier (despite, uh, the near end of the world in Apocalypse I guess). So the X-Men are revered as superheroes rather than outcasts that no one even really knows about.

I hope Lone Wolf and Cub was an influence on the script/direction, because it was a major influence on Frank Miller and his writing on Wolverine.

Isn't that poster at the end of the red band trailer?

The Citizen Kane of Comic Book Movies.

Lol, I mean, I was thinking it actually looks like a legit good movie, not just a good comic book movie. Actually has and is advertising an emotional journey with sort of the action as a backdrop.

Damn, I love seeing Patrick Stewart back as Prof X.

Same. Seems a bit forced to me. If they went R just so they could drop fuck bombs it's going to be silly.

I mean, just having a kid murder people with decent amounts of blood showing is enough for an R. I'm not worried.
