Digimon World: -Next Order- |OT| Back To The Digital World We Go...

The only digimon game I played was digimon world for ps1 which I loved. Has there not been a sequel to that gameplay all this time? I might have to get this.

None that released in the west, there were Japanese games on PSP (fan translation exists) and 3DS that had the same style, but this is the first officially localized one since the first.

well good for you that this is a sequel in gameplay and in story. ( I really have no idea where to put redigitize at since i think it was just a game made in the style of the original, and some throwbacks)

Oh man , Digivolution is challenging in the new normal mode. Didn't get the champions I wanted on the first run lol. Seems the digivolution guide is out of date , I'll remove it from the OP.

This is sounding promising. One of the things people complained about was how easy it was to get the Digimon you wanted first go.

The point of Digimon World should be settling for Centarumon even though you wanted Garurumon, because at least it's not Numemon dammit!

Yeah I've been going blind and trying out different eggs, the stats are fair on easy mode, I plan to go back to normal once i upgrade the gym, but the digivolution requirements are much better than they were on the jp version.
Edit - The game is much more difficult now as well, until your digimon die the first time & you upgrade the gym.

The friendship between your mons is so easy to lose -10 if you escape and takes ages to build up... My Digimon really hate each other atm :(.

Running away from battles has surprisingly nasty effect of decreasing the bond between digimons. Its crazy, I kinda got it stuck in low 10s and 20s and I cant get it up. Theyve been hating each other a lot. Anyone know how to get it up good? Its too random and slow for battles and some items, and not sure what to do.

I think I read eating at a restaurant is supposedly good at raising it?

I'm so upset my reneemon evolved in kyubimon instead of leomon like I trained it to do. Maybe I did something wrong.

I needed evolution info so i went to the gym, trained once came out and repeated. They sometimes also compliment each other when you praise them which boosts their bond by more than one.

Got my first mega. PlatinumNumemon FFS -_- . That Monzaemon was going to become Vikemon.

Edit- So I learned if you leave an injuredmon long enough he heals himself. Also there's a trophy for care mistakes. He won't die ;_;.

Platinum Numemon +Angewomon = Imperialdrarmon PM via ExE .The fgift that keeps on giving.

Also, low hp fight = insta injury

Just realised Floatia might be a mis-translation for frontier - as they pronounce it as frontia -_- .

I think a needy platnumemon says bullshit.

^^ Angel women and slugs made of platinum make powerful dragon knights. It is known.

Some evolutions can be very specific in their requirements. In the original Digimon World, it was really tough getting the Digimon you wanted, especially the first time.

I thought this game was supposed to be easy in that department, but looking at early impressions here, maybe the PS4 version "fixed" that.

Just started and literally the first item I get is a toilet

They're just preparing you...

Doesn't even have a date yet.

Have you emailed/chatted with them about it?

While I have my issues with this title (specifically for Vita), I'm happy it finally came over and many can enjoy it :).

You did a great job OP with this thread; very indepth and informative for people interested in trying this game out. Hope you and everyone visiting this thread enjoys the game a lot! Honestly happy to see Digimon get a second game localized personally.

No, maybe I should then if it doesn't have one by monday.

It's a known stock issue, numerous people on numerous boards complaining, I'd go pick it up in game or if your local supermarket has a good gaming selection there if you're eager to play it. Amazon reps who generally don't have access to much, have said they don't have a confirmed date for when they'll get more stock in.

Thanks. Yeah those issues where why I held off playing more of the vita version. I still think the difficulty+digivolution changes are overkill though. There's not an easy way to judge how powerful a random mob will be.

Is this game as grind-y as the original and Re:Digitize were?

The grind grows smaller each time your digimon dies and as you build up the gym /purchase skills. However, the initial grind is worse than both of them.

Oh, I see. I can wait, I have plenty to play.

Same here. I'm going to send a complaint in today.

Thing is, they've got other sellers on their site advertising it as in stock.

I only ordered with Amazon because of that £10 off code from before.

EDIT - Just spoke to an Amazon UK customer service rep on the live chat, said my order should dispatch within 24 hours and they extended my Prime membership by a month.

This is bringing back so many memories! However I am feeling a bit confused and frustrated. I kinda have a hang of battles but can easily die because i don't have enough items to restore HP and when you return to floatia the health doesn't return. I can't make my digimon sleep.

I think my tsukaimon wants food but i keep getting a message saying it's not hungry. Other times i feed them and they still want more. I just don't have enough items to keep on top of any status!

Also I wish I could shut the digimon up. The constant crying does my head in. What am I doing wrong? I have it on easy...

My digimon are tsukaimon and agumon (black). Are there any good guides to help me get settled in?

Stepped outside the first area and got my shit wrecked by a level 2 Numemon. Yes!!

Was really hoping the game wouldn't be a cakewalk.

Shame to see the OT so empty, Cyber Sleuth seemed to have way more hype.

Had to turn the difficulty down because of the grind on Normal but now I'm really enjoying myself! Love the Tamer perk system and its nice to feel closer to my Digimon than I would in a Story of Pokémon game. I feel like most of what I do is raising. I feel like a tamer rather than someone who uses monsters to battle (as is really set in by their autonomy in the fight system).

Enjoying it way more than I expected and hope sales are strong enough to get whatever's next for Digimon.

Digimon World 1 is one of the best games ever made in my opinion, "flaws" and all---in fact those flaws made it what it was.

Optimistic for this game but also hope it isn't as mindless as Re;Digitize felt. Something about that game felt off.

EDIT: Can male players begin with Biyomon and Palmon?

Well. You get to choose one of (quite a few, can't remember exact number) eggs which all hatch in Baby Digimon so they're not Rookies but grab a guide and you could definitely get them quick enough.

It did, but Next Order isn't out in the US for three more days still so I'm sure that's contributing.
Oh, that actually explains quite a bit.

Okay, I thought maybe it was set up where the male gets Agumon and Gabumon from the beginning and the female gets Biyomon and Palmon...

So this time your Starter Digimon is a Baby instead of a Rookie like in World 1? Interesting. Guess that's what you mean by the "initial grind", with World 1 if you played wisely you could get a lot done at the beginning with Agumon/Gabumon.

This hasn't released in my region yet, but I'm super excited for it, as DW1 is one of favorite games ever. I had no idea there were two difficulties either, is normal mode more or less like DW1? I thought Re:Digitize was a bit too easy but the original was pretty manageable once you got a hang of everything.

Starting out with a baby sounds fun too. I love Agumon but have always felt getting one by default makes some things too easy.

Extremely well done OT, nice job OT ;-)!

Still have to finish Cyber Sleuth and Persona 5 (still sitting around in Japan for a few more months until I get back home to my PS4), but will definitely get this game down the line. Did pre-order Cyber-Sleuth though, so I did my part in making sure we get those awesome Digimon games again at least ^_^.

If you keep dying, I'd recommend going to the gym and raising up some stats.

When Tsukaimon looks hungry does he have an icon over his head? Does he say he's hungry?

Unfortunately, the only guides for this game appear to digivolution guides. There might be Let's Play Youtube videos to help you out?

Edit: There is this GameFAQs guide for the Vita version.

Yeah, you choose two eggs at the beginning. They digivolve pretty fast. Here's the list of starter eggs:
Botamon -> Koromon
Punimon -> Tsunomon
Poyomon -> Tokomon
YukimiBotamon -> Nyaromon
Pabumon -> Motimon
Jyarimon -> Gigimon
Zerimon -> Gummymon
Conomon -> Kokomon
Yuramon -> Tanemon
Pitchmon -> Pukamon

Who evolves into Biyomon? I assume it's Tokomon still like in World 1?

It's super quick to get to Rookie. Grinding on Normal is purely because everything will wreck you outside of the first area if you haven't spent a lot of time training. I wouldn't say you really need to grind for Digimon, it's even easier on Easy (which I would recommend over Normal).

It was my favorite game as a child. I loved 2 and 3 as well.

Gonna be brutally honest with you, if you are playing in Normal mode, you are not getting any Anime-partners. All Anime-partners have so high stat requirements you basically cant get them on first time. Coincidentally all recolors have easy requirements so you'll probably get those instead.

But if you wanna try it? Biyomon can be evolved from Tokomon and Nyaromon, because Biyomon was only Adventure-partner that didnt get its Baby forms.

The starters being Baby is nonissue, since babies evolve so fast. You can get rookie in 5-9 ingame hours, while in DW1 it was 30 ingame hours.

Regarding grind, a lot of normal enemies are actually tough. The worst thing is, if they use anything but weakest attacks you might get one shotted fast. Atleast for me, you can only progress in small pieces. So train a lot, and dont try to do everything at once.

How are the English voiceovers? I was a bit disappointed they didn't have them for Cyber Sleuth.

Average really, Jijimon has probably least average voice actor but lol MachineDRAYmon.

Guilmon's voice actor however holy shit what. Its... not expected.

It's not, everything about re digitized was like a half assed attempt. Whilst next order is better and more refined it isn't perfectly reminiscent of the first game. Fishing is the worst part of it, literally waiting for a '!' to pop up, I loved the fishing in the original. The translation is direct but doesn't have many grammatical mistakes like Cyber sleuth did. However, this leads to stuff like digimushrooms being referred to as digistalks.

Sorry for the slightly off topic question but since I'm in Japan right now I wanna try and get the other game(s) in the Digimon World series as well. Is Re:digitize the only other game in the series (after the original Digimon World)? And which version is considered the "best" version? 3DS or PSP if you don't care about translation patches?

Yes, 3ds version is better.

Yeah, Re: Digitize is the only other one. The 3DS version is basically the "Ultimate Edition" so I'd get that.

Fishing was amazing in DW1 and it sucks that in Redigitized and NO it basically just 'Press X when ! appears'

3DS version is updated version from PSP in pretty much everyway Ive heard. Unless there are some bad features I havent heard about, go for 3DS version. But like I dont thats the case.

3DS version greatly improved roster, added online multiplayer and even gave big post game quests.

So the game is super broken until you get champions, which you still need to strengthen. The first area isn't too bad unless you go out at night. The digimon refusing to eat is an interaction opportunity,they're being a picky eater, you should scold them when that happens. You need to get palm on, she's in the first area outside of town. Also you should pick up any mushrooms, apples etc you see. There's a tentomon in the first area which opens up a shop so go recruit him to get more recovery items. Koromon in jijimons house gives you items everyday as well.
