Cringeworthy things you've seen gamers in person do?

There's this guy I know who constantly defends Ubisoft. If me and my other friends are alone and mention their name he suddenly appears and starts defending them. We will be talking about something completely unrelated and the topic will somehow turn to Ubisoft.

We are actually starting to believe he's an Ubisoft employee it's getting so bad. It's soooo cringey!!

Oh boy, hahahahahaha.

nekkid

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Now this is something I don't get. Neogaf is meant to be a place of love & respect yet this topic is based around making fun of people. The fuck is this? Seriously, leave people the fuck alone, let them like what they like, do what they do and be who they are. As long as it's not hurting anybody else.

Therein lies the rub.

Not sure if cringe is the right word, but seeing a nine-eleven year old tell his parents how qualified he was to play GTA 5 was... interesting.

Wait, I've got one, the Nintendo and Sony fanboy argument I walked into at an Entertainmart. It was exactly what you expect when you hear the word fanboy, full stereotype on display. Nintendo dude talked about how Sony Ponys only cared about graphics, Sony guy was on about his mature games that aren't just for kiddies. Whole Sony copies Nintendo, Nintendo is going out of business because of Sony, and just a bunch of dumb little stuff. If you told me they were two friends just making fun of fanboys I would hope to believe you, because it was unreal.

Edit: Forgot to mention the ehhh, let's say passion, that they were arguing with.

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Is it bad I kinda like this one? So passive aggressive. Rage enduring but how you gonna get mad at the same time?
I can't get mad at someone doing that as that would be a case of second hand embarrassment. Like boy you're good at the game but your glasses aren't glowing and you look ridiculous you gotta stop.

For real, a gamer dating app would be cool.
Think about how well the gaming community handles women just over microphones and VR, then think about how well they'd handle the idea of seeing a woman in a dating app meant for gamers, and then seeing a picture of a woman. God no, please never let that be a thing.

Disliking people liking stuff isn't what I was expecting

I was more expecting pokemon players throwing feces at each other in a hotel

Wearing a video game shirt.

OUTSIDE

I met one of my closer friends simply because he was wearing a video game shirt of a game neither of us played and series that neither of us gave a shit about.

Funny thing is he's like the last person to wear a video game shirt normally, don't think I ever saw it after that.

I saw a teen proudly reciting a piece of Sephiroth's dialogue from Advent Children 10 years ago, and he was very offended when people giggled out of embarrassment

I had never seen that Shadow intro.

It seriously tracks like a parody. The guns, the motorcycle, the generic RAGE directed at everyone (not just the monsters, he's THAT angry)! Good lord.

I honestly can't stand people's talking about videogames in public. It seems I'm a magnet for "the caek is a lie!!!1!1" or "Poor uneducated pleb, I'm gonna educate you on how to use D.va with all the glory of my Cheetos and not being showered in a week stench" people.

The only person I can talk about videogames off from this site is my best friend. He's the only person I play with too. I know I'm generalizing and that's wrong, but I'm not gonna lie, it happened so much I decided not to hang around gaming places and whatnot. :/

Wearing a video game shirt.

OUTSIDE

This thread, my god.

I wore my Fallout shirt to work and people actually commented on how they were hyped for the game or said nothing because it's just a fucking shirt.. I work at a high-end retail store too.

People here don't know what 'cringe' is.

Like most of us I've been in situations with weird folks with varying quirks or offputting behavior, from dudes with voice modulation issues to apparent hygiene issues to rude/condescending attitudes with little to no provocation, etc. But people who might have some odd habits or strange opinions are allowed to be that way, no reason to call them out publicly or shame them or anything.

I don't think it's so bad to tell stories about certain situations or people, it's the tone that matters

Honestly, every time I happen to chat about games with casual players like family members or classmates or whatever, the type who stick to smartphone games or Madden/COD, I sometimes find myself talking about comparatively niche shit or upcoming games that haven't had big commercials and marketing and I'm sure a lot of them think I'm some fucking weirdass

Super Princess Peach:

Both

People openly talking about how they want it but are embarrassed to get it because it's a "girls game". (it's not for any one particular sex or gender)

People openly questioning the sexuality of males who bought Super Princess Peach.

I once made the mistake of playing my 3ds in public between classes at my college. Before I knew it three neck beards swarmed me. Warm stanky breath on my face. As they uttered "oh is that zelda" i said yes then about five minutes went by of them stairing at me and crowding me before I said i have to go to class now. It was the last time I played a hand held in public. Also gdq is a great event that I love watching, but when people shout hype, its a little hard to watch

This isn't really heinous or anything, but In about 2005 or so I was at a Gamestop with my younger brother and we were checking out one of the PS2 kiosks. I don't remember what game we were playing, but whatever it was my brother said it reminded him of Black (the FPS) - which we had just beaten a few days prior. This dude playing at the kiosk next to us (he looked about 17 or 18) just blurts out "Black sucks." with a really condescending tone.

Now, 1) This guy's eyes never left his screen, so he wasn't making some conscious effort to engage us in a conversation, and 2) He was playing Dynasty Warriors. So,y'know, little bit of the pot calling the kettle black there, pal. We briefly glanced at him and then carried on with our conversation.

Back in high school I was really into Yu Gi Oh, and was considered the best in my school (I even won the triangle trophy at my counties tournament center). Anyway, there was guy who was really mad at me because I was dating a girl he liked, so he challenged me to an "epic duel." He came to school wearing a cape, and had a boom box with dueling music. He even quoted the show as we played. I beat him, but felt kinda bad about it because he was so odd about it.

Edit: Also, not me. But my best friends cousin was in love with DragonBall Z. Every time he would go to the gym he would "power up" like Goku. He would yell really loud too... it was awkward.

Exploiting the router to see everyone's web traffic. Then bragging to everyone about how h4x he is and showing them, causing numerous issues. He was a problem.

As explained like 10 times in this thread, that was far from the only reason. Hacking, being rude to everyone, complaints from customers and employees. He was practically fired already. At that point we were only keeping him because of scheduling conflicts.

We actually had to close a location due to his antics. So don't think it was unfounded.

It'd be easier to follow if the story didn't keep getting more added on to it to make it seem worst. Next, he'all be wanted for murder!

You're literally adding a new more horrible thing he did every new post. He went from saying nintendo sucks to being rude to costumers to hacking your wifi to causing the closure of a location

Seems like bullshit.

This sounds intense.
