World of Final Fantasy |OT| Lightning Inside

Sandstalker trophy is killing me right now.

Is that for killing 20 magitek enemies, or trying to get the memento? I was petrified of the mini-game, but I ended up doing it in about 40 mins. For me, the key was to use the same pattern each time, and I soon realized there was a higher chance of an enemy appearing the same squares each time. It was pretty rare that there wasn't an enemy in the vicinity of the three of them with this kind of placement, so they never had to do much moving.

The hardest trophy for me was the Blitzball one. I ended up muting the television, sticking on some Nier Automata music, and somehow the beat kind of got me into the right groove.

I'm slowly making my way through this. Love the well directed cutscenes and the banter within them. Love seeing the chibi FF characters being all serious and imposing. It's silly, it's funny, and the main trio has grown on me. I especially love Tama's and Lann's conversations, as silly as they are. The world is diverse, and I look forward to seeing where the story will go next. I love the art and the music in all these locations.

The writing isn't anything earth shattering. It's written for kids, and there are some issues like
chap 20
where a bunch of new characters, concepts, and jargon is revealed in a very short time. I'm still in this chapter, so let's see how it progresses. The gameplay which I had initially thought would be great has been somewhat of a let down. I don't feel the stack system works as well in practice.

I'm still going through the game, so will save the rest for later.

Do XL mirages become not trash? I just got Cerberus and it did this huge fucking transformation to turn into the fucking thing and I thought I was about to blow these cowards away. I was hyped as fuck for the wreckage he was about to rain down on these fuck sticks. And then he started hitting for 28 damage. And then he died in 4 hits. Da fuck, brah?

That sounds like he was severely underlevelled. But yeah, XL mirages aren't really useful IMO. They're just something fun to mess around with sometimes.

Yea, all flash. Zero substance.
I used the xl behemoth and would bait bosses by not attacking until I was about half health and then used revenge a few times for massive damage. Could take some bosses out with that alone.

Beat that annoying Shantotto in the Sunken Temple Intervention Quest, even though you are not meant to beat it. Was nice seeing that 99,999 is the damage cap.

I really love the intervention quests. All of them have a nice little story, and neat cutscene direction. There is usually a boss fight, and you get some useful items out of them as well. This is how Final Fantasy should be doing its side quests.

I platinum'd the game and never found a use for XL mirages.

Bahamut was the only one I used, and that was after I'd knock down his HP/AP to a really low level for a powerful Mega Flare. The rest were a waste (outside of the Behemoth), which was a shame.

The Shantotto fight was great, I loved summoning her own champion medal against her. The intervention quests were nearly the highlight of the game for me, they were really fun and beautifully done.

So has anyone figured out how to get the Sora champion medal?

I downloaded the Sora champion from the PSN, but I can't find it in downloads on the WOFF title screen, it's not available in the shop as the other medals were, and it's not in my inventory, so how do I actually add it?

I bought it from the Intervention girl, I think. Or it was already in my inventory after I downloaded the DLC.

Try restarting your system? I had a similar issue with the FFXV Festival DLC.

So playing ffxv on my pro and new 4k tv both made me realise I was hankering for some old school final fantasy, and I was looking for pro enhanced games as well and I saw this little gem.

Am I right in saying this looks like more a cutesy old school J RPG ? Does it scratch that itch gameplay wise? I loved games like FFVII-X for both the gameplay and story. Or is this something completely different?

its one of my favourite jrpgs in A LONG TIME.

its so good, has tons of charm, remixed FF tunes, original story. shame that not all the FF characters are in it.

96 hours i think i spent on it.. :)

Thanks, this was the problem. I had to quit out of the game entirely and re-start it before the DLC would show up. A notification popped up once the title page came on.

Some XL's are very powerful -
Bahamut's Mega Flare
does 30k+ to all enemies with proper conditions.

Some really suck, like Ultima Weapon.

If you download (and it installs), when you start your save file it should say "You obtained the Sora medal!" or whatever, it's automatically added to your list.

Completed the game, and the ending was decent.
It felt a little forced, and so it didn't really have that much of an impact on me. Regardless, was surprised when the credits started rolling, coz I was really not expecting a sad ending. But then they gave us a second chance. So let's see where this goes now.
I loved the Cloud and Celes opera "sidequest" where Celes goes all "Ohhh my herooo~"

Haven't seen that one yet, but sounds fun!

Oh man! Bahamut is great in this game! I've never really cared about Bahamut in Final Fantasies, but after this game, I have a new appreciation for him, haha!

Got the true ending!
It was overly "power of love and friendship", but I guess that was to be expected from this game. Also, I didn't see why Lann and Reynn had to leave/die? Just throw Brandelis and others inside, and everyone would be happy. But whatever.
That credits

tho, lmao! That was great!

The cutscene direction, intervention quests, and the localisation were some of the highlights of the game. It was a pleasure to see so many different and wonderful locations. The graphics and art were amazing in terms of environments. I liked the grown up versions of the characters, but the chibi ones didn't bother me too much either. The main party really grew on me, like dude! The funny banter really turned my corners up!

The story was okay I guess. A little too convoluted at the end for their target audience (kids) I think, and it could also have used less jargon. But the game does go around to explain it all, so it wasn't so bad. This would have to be weakest aspect of the game though.

The gameplay was average. It was just too simple for me. It should have allowed us to use mirages in all 3 spots from the start of the game. That would have opened up more strategical options. The stacking mechanic also felt a little lacking. You pretty much never really wanna be unstacked, so it basically kills a big part of the stacking system. Also, since not all abilities have seeds, you can't even plan out crazy setups. It's all very restrictive and held back. It needed more freedom. Like, why aren't there Bravega/Faithga abilities? Why can't I buy an Auto-Phoenix seed and give that ability to any mirage I want? Another thing that was annoying was having to level the mirages whenever you wanted to try some new ones out. Starting them at level 1 makes it a real chore and discourages trying out new mirage combinations. They should have allowed every single mirage to get EXP, even ones not in your party.

Having said all that, overall, I enjoyed the game. It's a solid 8/10 for me. I hope they make another one or something similar.

Time to go do some post-game stuff!

Bahamut's got pivotal/amazing scenes in 9, Type-0, and 14 (and 15 too, I suppose). I wasn't a huge fan of how he was portrayed in this, though.

Few hours into the game. Even though the game goes all in on the cheese factor, I already find it more engaging and visually appealing than FFXV.

Wow these minigames are completely awful. I was able to get all four of the related trophies but I'm really struggling to get the Maduin memento. This is seriously giving me FFX flashbacks gating important items behind terrible minigames.

Edit: Wow I literally just got it right after complaining about it. I guess if you can't do something in a game, you should just whine on neogaf

It gets better than the first few hours, too. I found those kind of dragged a bit with all the tutorials. It lays on the charm a ton later.

And it's hands down a better game than XV, and I really didn't think that'd be a thing I'd say.

Finishing up the last few trophies now and I feel that XV and WoFF are on a similar level in terms of quality. Both are solid, good games with substantial flaws that are probably 7/10 for me. I don't think that the series has been truly great for a long time but both of these games (along with Realm Reborn) were at least a lot more enjoyable than XIII imo.

Completed EX Dungeons A, B and C, and now am near the save crystal of dungeon Z's boss. I've beaten it, but I want to see how quickly I can beat him. Plus, this place is the best spot for level grinding, so not in any rush.
Anyone know if these bosses can be re-fought if you exit and re-enter dungeon after completion?

I loved the Cloud and Celes opera "sidequest" where Celes goes all "Ohhh my herooo~"

Finally got around to watching this, and it was neat. I was hoping they'd go all the way though. Would have been awesome!
