Long hair, beards, and blood makes me think of Hel or Valhalla or something. A bunch of semi-undead viking warriors. Like, Cap dies, and Thor visits the afterlife to fetch him back or something.

I feel like that happened in Ultimates. Or was it in one of the cartoons...?

Just came in here to ask if we were expecting anything new during the super bowl, but I guess that answers my question

Have they still managed to bag themselves a share in their negotiations to let Marvel play around with Spiderman?
I mean, the ability to use Marvel characters (ie iron Man) in their movie, and have a competent production studio make their movie basically for free should be good enough. I doubt Marvel would have had gone all in on Spidey merchandising had Sony not done the deal anyway, as is the case for the x-men.

Marvel Studios already got the hashtags ready to go for the trailer tonight.

Nothing for Mantis, though (sadly). I already checked.

tweeted all of these at once and Marvel tweeted me the poster with a "you're welcome" lol. love it.

Never understood why they did this

The article explains it.

I thought they did it in a trade w/ Marvel that gave Sony 100% of the film money, while Disney/Marvel took 100% of the merchandise money (as opposed to a Sony 75/25 movie | merch 25/75 Marvel split on both). but the deal also included a little cash capitol from Disney/Marvel to seal the deal.

the exact figures from the split may be off, as I'm just going by memory here. Just remember it being a lopsided split on both deals.

Have they still managed to bag themselves a share in their negotiations to let Marvel play around with Spiderman?

I believe while Sony still owns the rights to Spidey on film, Marvel is hired as the full production crew for the movie and gets paid by Sony some undisclosed fee to write, direct, produce, etc etc the movie. Sony still maintains technical "final say" on everything, but they would be pretty dumb to interfere when Marvel Studios seems to know exactly what they are doing. So all Sony has to do is sit back, collect money, and then sign checks.

But hearing that the Sony Movie Studios is in trouble and possibly being auctioned off to the highest bidder... what are the chances that Disney makes a play for that? or does Sony own the Spidey rights outside of the movie studio, and can hold on to them w/o the Movie Studio?

Bautista about the make-up removal process:

“The problem was it goes on really great and it looks really great. It’s really hard to get off. So they came up with this idea – they stick me in a sauna at the end of the day. [Laughs] They literally have to melt it off of me so that was the thing, because during the test we found out it’s so abrasive they literally have to scrub it off of me. So after two days, my skin was like hamburger. So they came up with the sauna thing, and I literally have this portable sauna that travels around with me and I get in at the end of the day, and I get three guys who come in and attack me. Nothing weird there. [Laughs] Four guys in a sauna, just being men.”

Juicy Guardians deets.

The embargo on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set visit reports has lifted, so prepare to be bombarded with new interviews, photos and plot details. If you're particularly interested in learning more about the plot or seeing if your theories on why Nebula and Yondu are members of the team are correct, we've got you covered thanks to /Film. Here's what they learned from their time on the Atlanta, Georgia set.
  • Thesequel starts 3 months later after the first.
  • The Guardians are a new team/faction out in the galaxy doing good deeds and services...but for a price. Case in point, they go to save The Sovereign People from an inter-dimensional monster who's trying to devour their planet's power source. To "pay" the Guardians, The Sovereign People have captured Nebula and are willing to exchange her if Star-Lord and co. take care of the beast.
  • The Guardians want to take Nebula to the planet Xandar and turn her over to the Nova Corps. but of course, things go awry and that journey becomes very complicated according to James Gunn.
  • As for their defeat of the inter-dimensional monster, it seems Rocket didn't view Nebula as suitable payment and stole a few of the planet's power source/batteries which pisses of The Sovereign People and their leader Ayesha. In response, she hired The Ravagers to go after The Guardians and retrieve the batteries.
  • The Sovereign are genetically created beings who are sticklers for proper decorum and etiquette. Rocket's theft deeply offends them and it seems they'll go to any length to have their honor restored.
  • Yondu tries to convince The Ravagers not to go after Quill and the rest of the Guardians but they don't listen to him. With Yondu not going after Quill after not handing over the "orb" at the end of the first film and now speaking against taking the job from Ayesha, Taserface leads a rebellion and overthrows Yondu as leader of The Ravagers.
  • The group will be split up early on in the movie and the question the film presents to the audience becomes IF and WHEN will they reunite.
  • The two main villains are Ayesha and Taserface, who Kevin Feige describes as, "less grandiose in their ambitions than [Ronan]."
  • With the Guardian's legend grown to sizable proportions following their defeat of Ronan and Peter managing to hold and Infinity Stone and walk away unscathed, word eventually reaches Ego, who comes looking for his son. It seems he's been looking for Peter for a long time after Yondu failed to deliver him.
  • Traveling with Ego is his personal attendant, Mantis. She's described as very naive, making Drax look like a worldly-scholar in comparison.
  • There was one more Guardian included in Gunn's original treatment for the sequel but was ultimately cut during script revisions. However, Gunn stated that the character would likely appear in a future Guardians installment.

Why the hell can't I pre-order the Doctor Strange Blu-Ray on Amazon yet? This makes no sense. It comes out in like 3 weeks.

Mads needed more scenes like this in the movie, not less. I appreciated how lean it was compared to Civil War but they could have easily added a few scenes here and there.

I disagree. This scene doesn't do enough to develop him. They should have intercut/overlayed his monologue about his family with flashbacks to what happened to them and show his grief evolve into bargaining. We needed to see how he got to where he is instead of just hearing about it after the fact. They could have even restructured the first act a bit and shown in it parallel with Strange's ordeal, but that would have probably required more finesse than Scott Derrickson is probably capable of.

Completely agree, perfect opportunity when Mads was chained up.

The Marvel and Disney stuff seemed to always be delayed on Amazon. I remember Civil War wouldn't ship until a few days after release, and the same with Finding Dory.

Nah, Mads needed to be more of a presence throughout the movie to give it a better sense of time and to characterize him better through other means than exposition.

Man I am feeling so bummed now. I'm a huge fan of Iron Fist but this trailer looked really bad. There wasn't even much martial arts in there and whenever it was there it was off camera of badly cut. Really a bummer. I hope the final show turns out great but so far Marvel have had 1 great Netflix show (DDS1) and three mediocre ones.

:(

Based Feige. Phase 3 and 4 going cosmic?

“I don’t know about branching off from this, but certainly inhabiting similar areas from this. A lot of our upcoming movies will. I mean the upcoming movies will be as much up here, as they are on Earth, starting with not Spider-Man, starting with Thor: Ragnarok. There are three scenes on Earth in Thor: Ragnarok. Everything else is Asgard, and not all of these worlds, but world that certainly, let’s put it this way, in Thor lingo, it’s beyond the nine realms. There are other planets that we spend a lot of time on in Thor: Ragnarok, that certainly people would say, ‘oh, that’s sort of like the Guardians world’, but they’re just other areas of the Marvel cosmos universe.”

1. Thor and Loki visit Strange.
2. Strange helps them find Odin. They take him back to Asgard.
3. Thor returns Hulk to Earth? Thor visits his roommate Darryl? Thor fights Tony for creating a robot version of him in Civil War...wait, no.

It's a goddamn shame that a lot of the cosmic marvel stuff is tied up with Fox. I hope they can work out a deal for the F4 one day.
