Where will the Nintendo Switch live in your TV unit / Setup?

Next to the TV where currently my PS4 is sitting innocently, unaware that I'll have to put it somewhere else soon.

I'm kinda running out of space, so I'll have to shuffle some things around.

Horizontal mode in my TV stand. There is no reason you can't lay down the dock such that you can pull the Switch out, the dock is just a plastic holder, no need for it to be vertical.

Oh you can just lay the dock down? I also have issues fitting it standing in my tv desk

I specifically bought a new TV stand in December so I could sit the Switch dock next to the TV. The first reveal video sold me on the concept of having it in a spot where I could easily access it.

I've thought about getting another dock for the bedroom TV, but I currently have my Xbox One hooked up there and I'll most likely be too lazy to swap inputs.

I have a bunch of those 13" modular cubes next to my tv holding various accessories. Normally the consoles go on the tv stand, but given the docking on the switch I'll cut a hole in the backing for the cubes, run wires through it and put it there.

On my desk which is next to my TV, because my TV stand is barely big enough for my TV, let alone a standing up console!

Either replacing my wii u or next to it. Migjt keep the wii u plugged in for a while to finish the Metroid prime trilogy.

Sideways beside the TV. Anywhere else and it would block the screen as the TV takes up the entirety of the entertainment center.

There's no fan on the back apparently and resting the Switch on its backside seems to even lower the chance of scratches. The only thing that's unclear is whether you can take off the joycons easily without gravity keeping the Switch down.

I hypothesized that the reason cables were able to be directed out the side was for flush to the wall vertical orientation but you raise a good point. I mean what factors, of those we know, would prevent the horizontal orientation?
Hmm crap apparently there is a fan that you would block by laying it on its back (note the back flap doesn't reach all the way to the top). Though that would also rule out putting it flush against the wall.

the only place i can put it is on my desk which is sitting to the right of my TV. the only thing is that the HDMI cable will come out the right side of the dock so i'll need to bend it around to go over to my TV. i'd prefer if it was on the left side.

i might see if i can remove one of the glass panels on my stand so i can sit it beside my PS4.

I haven't quite figured it out yet. It's not replacing my Wii U since thats the main family console.

It might not go at all. Might be handheld mode and put the dock in the break room at the office.

I have two rooms with gaming equipment. My living room with our large TV houses my Xbox One and PS4. My computer room has every older generation of consoles in it with a smaller 32in 1080p TV mounted to the wall. My Switch will probably end up in the computer room with the older consoles next to my Wii U.

This isn't for my own setup, but I like the idea of a Switch as the "kids TV" in a side-room (not necessarily for kids), though some of that would rely on some multimedia apps coming down the pipe. Mind you, that idea is probably half a decade out-of-date with phones and tablets being what they are.

The dock being streamlined like it is, I would actually keep its "home" setup more out-of-the-way than another console might be. I wanna protect from dust as much as I can. I have carpeting, which produces more air particles over time than I'd like for electronics.

Mine will be a bit behind my TV as I don't have much room to have it in front without moving a bunch of things. (Which I may end up doing as this will be all I play for a while.)

Should be able to fit it in the bottom shelf of my stand. Only a Blu-ray player there currently.

Just need to see if that gives enough room above to lift it out of the dock.

nowhere. My hdmi slots are all taken up and the Switch's lack of media apps, browser, etc. means it isn't worth a slot. It will be an in-house portable since it's poorly designed for outdoor use.

I have one of these on each side of my TV stand...

While I don't have any other consoles in there, I think that's where the Switch will end up having to live based on size.

Interestingly this is my plan for now. Move the books and put it there - all I can think to do. The Wii U already looks rubbish enough randomly behind a speaker :|

To the left of my Harley Quinn shrine, where my Wii U is. Not sure if I'll replace my Wii U just yet.

Wish the Xbox One took up less space so it's not hulking on my desk space, because I'd rather have it on the other side of my TV where my prop skull is. But as we all know, that thing is a monster.

My Wii U stands vertically on a shelf underneath the TV. I imagine when I get a Switch, it will take the Wii U's place and the Wii U will live out its remaining days in a box in the closet unless needed for Smash.

To the left of my TV. I need easy access as it will mainly be used a portable system. Luckily I have a rather large entertainment center with extra surface area.

This is one question I'm totally stumped by. There's not enough vertical space in any of the shelves on my TV stand for the dock to be upright, so if I can't put it in a shelf with the dock laying down, I don't know where else to put it. Even if it's upright behind my TV, I have a cat who loves to walk around back there and will happily knock it over.

Maybe I can try and secure the dock with tape or something. Still trying to figure out how to make it work.

If i get one i'm keeping it in my room. I don't want it to be like the gamepad where people always took it around and have to search for it. My siblings can get their own

Not sure yet. Probably next to the NES Classic on my top shelf, but I'll have to do some re-arranging in our entertainment center to accommodate it.

I have two compartments with glass doors and an open compartment in between. My AV receiver is in the open one, while my PS3 is in the left side, and my Wii U is on the right. I'll probably leave those as is, but on top of the stand are my three front speakers, my Gamecube and my iPod dock. I may replace the Gamecube with the Switch, or I'll place the dock on a stand just behind my center channel speaker. I don't play my Gamecube often, but I still kind of want to keep it connected just in case.

I want to put it on a small wall rack sitting top right of the tv, but I'll have to figure out how the cables will work and if I can hide them first. We'll see.
