I think Kurita said before that you can charge your amazon balance or something like that with your card, and THEN buy stuff using that card.

Edit:

There's an option that's literally "Reload your balance" or something when you check your account page

Amazing!

Could not figure out a way to buy Mp3s, this is amazing workaround!

Sweet.

New tricot albummmmmmmmmmm

"3" will be released from Big Scary Monsters(@bsmrocks) in the UK and Topshelf Records(@topshelfrecords) in the U.S.!! Don't miss it!!

Big Scary Monsters are doing gods work. Bringing Tricot, Meat Wave and Caspian is no small feat.

I can see this label being big in the next few years

Dear lord, Wed Camp need to stop with the ridiculously elaborate but low-quality packaging. I just got Superkid and the cover's already been damaged because I happened to place it next to the adhesive part of the clear slipcover, and the ink partially stuck to it. So fuck me, I guess. Also, the whole "fold-out poster and also we stuck the CD to it" just sounds like an awful idea from start to finish. And I can't even put the fucking thing on the shelf with all my other CDs because it's sized like a 7-inch single. Bleh.

But whatever NEW TRICOT ALBUM FUCK YES

wow @ the BSM + Topshelf news. It has been repeated a million times in this thread at this point but tricot's appeal to the global indie scene is simply incredible. They deserve every bit of this.

Oh yeah, I don't use my main account for it.
I have a second one with a random made up Japanese address (I don't know if it actually matters? I remember reading it did when I made the account) to buy on the Japanese store.
I don't do the "Send a gift card from the 1st account to the other" though, I just do the reload balance thing

wow i'm a dumbshit. i don't even know why i was bothering to try and buy on the us mp3 store when i could've just been using my jpn account anyway and get access to a way larger library

I really want to get into Japanese music. Is there any streaming service that offers a large Japanese catalog including new releases?

And another question, is there any that offer the ability to listen to samples of the music so that I can see if I want to buy it or not. Thanks for the help.

I'm a fan of Japan Top 10 since, like you, I find it really hard to find places online to listen to more current japanese music here in the US. They do a weekly podcast and also have a radio station with some good stuff on it.

I don't know anything about this band, but this is pretty good.

This is nice.

have they put out anything besides a few singles and that EP? kind of looking forward to them putting out a full album sometime.

They have a mini album coming out later this year:

「大正義」2017年4月26日

1. エレクトリック・パブリック 2. シンクロニシカ 3. ベニクラゲ
4. 本日未明 5. ミドリ 6. 夜明けのオレンジ(大正義 ver.)
※ M1,2 Bass : ヒロミ・ヒロヒロ(tricot) 、 M5,6 Bass : イガラシ(ヒトリエ)

Been slowly getting into yonige recently. The best way to describe them is "My Hair is Bad but with a girl singing". Makes sense since they're close friends.

I was interested in them a while ago. This song and さよならアイデンティティー are quite good, and the rest of their first album is also nice. However I'm not really liking their more recent stuff, which is sad, they had so much potential =/

I'll listen to your favorite genres.

My first exposure was when I bought Pizzicato Five's Made in the USA album in a real "mom & pop" record store back in 1994 and it changed my music taste for life. Stellar album (obviously huge nostalgia for me) from a now defunct genre in Japan.

edit: if you want their best release from their domestic ones, go with Overdose

I haven't listened to them with my headphones, but I can start.

There's going to be a 5 hour Jun Togawa special on Dommune tomorrow. She'll be performing live with Vampillia and talking about her book. Tentenko will also be DJing her songs. This will be her first officially filmed performance in 16 years.

The new Suiyoubi no Campanella is great, much better than UMA.

クリープハイプ -「ただ」
Soooo good

Sakanaction, Ame no Parade, UVERworld, MONOEYES, SKY-HI just got announced for Viva la Rock, can't waiiiiiiiiiit! UVERworld rarely do festivals so I'm surprised they're making an appearance at Viva la Rock. I'm not the biggest fan but their live performances look pretty hype, they have some killer live tunes like Don't Think Feel, Impact...
My body and my 3 days ticket are ready.

i'm sorry kurita i can't join you on this journey

i dig this except for the vocals. they're... not my thing
terrible

It's an acquired taste, I used to hate his voice too! Thank god I've seen the light and love it now, cause they're one of the greatest bands right now.

I only enjoy, like, 2 songs from L'Arc-en-Ciel lol Aside from that I think they're pretty garbage

And you will get in trouble for that comment about Perfume!
I don't hate moumoon! They have a few songs I dig, but overall they're kinda generic so heh

I will assume this is just trolling, but I will take the bait.

What does Perfume have to do with moumoon aside form releasing music in japanese? It's such an odd statement to make. And I will +1 kurita in that they are quite generic and I don't think they ever brought anything new to the table. Their music is pleasant, but I wouldn't bring the out in any kind of recommendation list unless it is for inconsequential music to listen in the background while doing something else.

I was just teasing kurita-sensei

I don't like Perfume since I don't really like synthpop usually tho moumoon has some tracks that kinda fall into that category (I think) that I do like. ex: Bon Appetit / moumoon

Moumoon is definitely middle of the road pop-rock and have been all over the map lately. That said, their self-titled album is incredibly consistent and one of my favorites of all time.

Perfume - 宝石の雨 (Radio RIP)

It's maybe a bit repetitive, but it's a cute B-side with album remix potential. The toned down vocal processing is such a nice direction for Perfume, I'm loving it.

See, this is nice. Can't wait for it to not appear on the next album like 恋は前傾姿勢 :)

I like this way more than Tokyo Girl, it's just the right amount of sweet. Especially the whistle-y bits in the chorus. Maybe a bit too similar to Baby Face, though.
