If Bomberman continues after Super Bomberman R, what should be next?

Okay GAF, hear me out. Bomberman.. but hes like a robot. But he's grimdark. And he has chains. And there's fire everywhere. I think it could sell well with the PS4/XB1 crowd. The regular bomberman is too cartoony to be considered mainstream.
Oh yes, one of those gritty reboots! The kids love those. You can call it Bomberman: Act Zero. Sales will go through the ROOF.

Well, we already know what's next.

Super Bomberman R34?

Take the basic formula and let an actual game designer run with it instead of their marketing department.

Something akin to Bomberman 64 would be wonderful but personally I wouldn't mind a little Bomberman merchandise to trickle out if Bomberman R is a success. A nice Bomberman 64 nendoroid would be great.

HOLY SHIT YES!

Wario Blast 3 then.

There's a third Bomberman GB game which was released on Japan only(Note: Wario Blast Featuring Bomberman is the first Bomberman GB in Japan, and didn't have Wario, Bomberman GB 2 is the one elsewhere known as Bomberman GB and Bomberman GB 3 which is a Japan exclusive).

Ok, you got me on this one.
I would still love a sequel to that subseries.
I totally forgot about weird naming from back in the day.

It kind of saddens me that people actually like Bomberman 64. Keep it old school or don't bother bringing the franchise back.

Bomberman in Smash.

Also, you are judging a game you've never played OP. We have no idea about stages past world 1 yet the whole premise of your topic is that the game is "half arsed". Come on.

Also for the people that say Bomberman 64 is their fave and they want more of it... That's fine you are entitled to your opinion but you need to see that it's not what Bomberman is and it's more of its own thing and exists because every franchise was going 3D in the N64 era. It's like saying you want 3D Mega Man or Castlevania. A fine opinion but don't expect it to be the norm just because you grew up with it and are nostalgic for it. Bomberman will always be based on the classic games as a base, especially in multiplayer. Bomberman 64 is more like a spinoff in that regard.

Were you not around when Mega Man Legends 3 was announced (and then canceled)? People really did want that!

And that's not to say they don't ALSO want the classic version of Mega Man or Bomberman. Mario is a series that is both a 2D platformer and 3D platformers and at this point neither style is less classic than the other and they co-exist perfectly.

I don't expect Bomberman to mix up its multi-player much, but maybe do some little new things that mix it up and keep it fresh, maybe like those newer Pacman DX games or something. And for single player, I think the sky is the limit for what they can do. People like the Bomberman 64 style, I LOVED what they did in Bomberman Tournament for the GBA which basically made a Zelda game with the Bomberman gameplay.

I'd like to see a 3D platformer adventure Bomberman game for Switch or 3DS, but I think for the market keeping his core intact as a simple multiplayer game with a light singleplayer function is the ideal route.

Something budget priced and multiplayer only would be ideal. It sucks that R is $50 because with me and all 3 of my roommates getting Switches, we could get 8 players going. I just don't wanna drop that much when it seems sketchy and also I feel like I'm paying for single player I couldn't care lesss about.

After that tease at the 3ds game I think most just want an adventure game.

First and foremost I want that, but I also want some kind of Puyo Puyo Anniversary style game, with a lot of different modes and characters taken from the franchise's history.

10 player mode, Louie mode, Bombergirl mode, Land mode (with conveyor belts and stuff like that) etc.

None of the 3D Bomberman games on the N64 were very good. And I say this with 64 being my first ever Bomberman game.

Getting my nostalgia crushed by a 64 replay has me afraid to revisit Generation; that was one of my first GCN games.

Bomberman Hero is pretty dang good IMO. In a small way it's kind of like in terms of level design like a 3D World before 3D World and Bomberman instead.

To a large extent I'd agree.

I also think many feel the same but flipped in that they just want SP.

Wish they had done a MP download only game at launch with bots so you could play by yourself. Then if they wanted to and it was successful they could sell maps down the line.

Then maybe focus on some sort of SP game to release later on.

Would love to see Classic Bomberman games as unlockables.

And maybe a mode that does the radius based bomb blast from the 64 title.

Single player like Bomberman Land.
Online Multiplayer.
8-player local multiplayer.
Graphical style like Wario Land Shake it.
