You hit the nail on the head. Girl seems to have really bad self esteem issues, like many people who stay with cheaters and come up with excuses for them.

Easier said than done. In a lot of cases the person is so truly deeply in love with the cheating partner that the fear of losing them and being alone can be greater than the disrespect and emotional abuse of cheating. And when that happens you justify to yourself and continue to fall back on how the cheating partner USED to be and not the way they currently are. She probably could see his disinterest in the relationship but was completely unable to rationalize it for herself to the point that she just wasn't able to get the hint even as he was having sex with other women.

It's a messy job being a human being. Emotions are often nonsensical.

It's not that easy to dump someone after you've sunk so much time into your relationship with them. And your mind starts trying to make up excuses and whatnot so you don't have to face the unknown of what happens when you do break it off and you start to weigh the worth of the relationship with the current pain that you're feeling. I notice Neogaf is extremely anti-cheaters. Chesters are almost as bad as Nazi here. However, the reality is a shockingly high majority of men will have extra-relational sexual encounters, if they can get it.

I think two things are happening here:

1 there are many younger people here and younger people do not cheat as much.

2. Many of the adult men here probably " doth protest too much" or however the saying goes.

3. Many of the men here simply do not have a real oppertunity to do it, so it's easier to be morally appalled by it.

4. We have very loyal, very pro-monogamous men here.

1. GAF actually trends towards a higher age than most online (esp gaming) communities.

2. no people actually have strong morals.

3. I wouldn't do it if i was offered. heck i've refused propositions when i was single.

4. its not about Monogamy. its about being honest with your partner. if you want a poly relationship then you set down those terms so they have the opportunity to agree with it, its just not cool to build someone up to a monogamous relationship and then go behind their back.

I'm not projecting. I have an open relationship in order to deal with the long distance we have to face.

I'm just trying to shed light in the contradictions of society. Statistically most men cheat (does anyone have good research on this? ) yet out in the open most men will claim to be completely against cheating.

If men (and woman) were more honest with what we really want, open relationships may become more accepted. Also, the stranglehold of religiously mandated monogamy may decrease. This could result in a more honest society and less broken hearts.
