Where are you going to put the switch base in your tv entertainment center?

Been thinking about this when I was rearranging my living room the other day. I really don't want to have the switch base 'outside', but it seems like it would be a pain to get the dang thing out if you put the base in a compartment of your entertainment center.

Marketing material has it like this:

Which idk...

Anyways how are y'all planning?

There was a thread exactly like this already. I can't search for it well on mobile though.

With a toddler and and 6 month old, I'm having to get creative with my entertainment set up. Especially with the Switch. It'll be up really high, but it helps that I'm 6' 4".

I have a desk that has my laptop and my TV behind it. Will put it there which is a pretty nice distance. Can even use the headphone jack at that length

My TV is at the foot of my bed. Currently I have my Wii U beneath it in the stand next to my PC, and my Gamepad on my bedside table. I think I'll just get a long HDMI cable and put the Dock where my Gamepad is.

I'm going to put mine off to the right of the TV on the top shelf. We've got a besta setup so there's plenty of space. That is the rotating spot for that, the Wii U, and PSVR (those live in my office on a semi permanent basis but I move them down when I'm not using them and my kid wants to play stuff). It'll be there a while but I will probably snag a second dock at some point.

I will put my switch on my wine cooler
j/k

I think on the right side of my tv is a good place. Finally I will move my 360 from there

I've been thinking about this for a while.....I have a big HD TV sitting on top of an old entertainment stand that was meant to fit an old tube TV on the inside. I have my Wii U and PS4 sitting on a shelf in the old TV compartment but I can't easily slide the Switch in and out from it.

I have all my gaming systems inside an entertainment center from IKEA except for the Xbox One S (because there's no room left and because I worry about it overheating), so my Switch dock will probably go right next to it. I thought about kicking out the Wii U and putting it in my office, but I don't want to put the dock in the entertainment center because it would be hard to take the Switch in and out of it.

So, in my set-up, I'll have hooked up an Analogue NT mini, SNES mini, N64, GameCube, Wii U, SEGA Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PSOne, PS2, Xbox, Xbox One S and Nintendo Switch.

Yeah where my systems are I wouldn't be able to lift the Switch straight up. Think you could lay the dock flat, almost like its a Switch VCR?

Next to my monitor like all the other consoles.

looking at a dock right now, it should work, the front is flat. the cables will be pointing up though, but that shouldn't be a big issue.

Quoting my post from before!
To the left of my Harley Quinn shrine, where my Wii U is. Not sure if I'll replace my Wii U just yet.

Wish the Xbox One took up less space so it's not hulking on my desk space, because I'd rather have it on the other side of my TV where my prop skull is. But as we all know, that thing is a monster.

As people mentioned, there is a thread like this. But IDGAF about that so I'll answer haha.

I have NO CLUE. I want it to be front-and-center so behind the TV isn't idea, but under the tv probably doesn't have enough clearance. I should actually find out the exact dimensions and take a look.

I'm also the type of crazy person who would get a completely new setup to accomadate my beautiful Switch. Let's hope I don't get there.

I'm out of room for a new console, so I think it's going to take the Xbox 360's place under the TV, as it's the console I've used the least in the past year or so.

Can anyone see a problem with it sitting on top of my PS4? As I understand the Dock is for charging and display out so shouldn't kick up too much heat???

I guess I have to reach into the entertainment system and tilt it over every time to insert/remove the switch, which is going to be a major pain in the ass sadly, and hopefully doesn't damage anything. I still can't fathom why Nintendo didn't design a horizontal solution.
I have young kids, so any exposed position will certainly mean a broken console within a week.

Underneath my TV. My TV is raised about six or seven inches off the entertainment unit shelf and the switch should fit right under it.

This is my issue. My oldest son knows better, but I have a 1 year old who touches everything. I'm going to have to find some sort of elevated position for it.

The black thing behind the TV is the PS4 pro. I'll cable manage that sucker a bit better once i install my Switch Dock.
though the fact that it's parallel to my TV, not orthogonal, means i'll always have the cables more or less visible. I'm very fond of that positioning though.

depending on the minimum height needed, i might just put the switch in front of the cables, centered underneath my TV.

Probably to the right of my TV, don't think it'll work in the cubby with the rest of my consoles since it needs top access.

Nowhere cause it's going to look like ass on a 4K display (at least at the distances I'm playing at).

Sticking with handheld mode for now. Might even model and print out my own custom case with powerbank slots at the back to make this the ultimate handheld.

... I don't have a (personal) TV :C.....

But if I did, the Switch would be under it where the imaginary media shelf is installed not unlike the promo pic. We tend to wire our media systems into the walls.

I am actually not able to figure this one out till I get the dock in. I usued to put my wii U charging cradle on top of one of my tower speakers, but I just upgraded to Dolby Atmos speakers, so now that spot is occupied.

Take a guess.

My setup is similar to yours - and I'm not sure it's going to work (I'm assuming you mean between your PS4 and XB1)

Because the Switch goes into the dock from the top, there may not be enough room to get it in unless you pull the dock out, insert the Switch, and then putt it back.

Obviously a very minor issue, but something I thought about.

I see what you're saying, but if I had to tilt the dick down a little bit to slide the Switch in, I don't think it'd be a big deal.

I need an entertainment system. I finally got a TV again, and I just have a little bedside table I'm using which won't be conducive to two consoles and my PC (Which usually just sits on the floor). Money money money money...

I don't have an "entertainment center", haven't owned a TV or a console since the PS3. I guess the Switch dock will sit on my PC desk and I'll hook it to one of my monitors, but I'll probably rarely if ever use it in "TV mode". I'll be using it like a 3DS.
