Kite was not introduced in the same way he is in the manga or the earlier anime adaptation. He's introduced very early on in the series but the 2011 anime didn't do this for whatever reason so it makes Gon's reaction a little weird without that context.

Yeah through the earlier anime I learned Kite's responsible for pretty much motivating Gon to take the Hunter Exam and get off the island. He still knew Kite longer than he knew his own father.
That's the only glaring flaw in the entire 2011 adaptation IMO. Kite was the whole reason Gon even became a Hunter, and he was essentially his mentor. His attachment to Kite might have been a bit confusing to anime only watchers.

I still can't understand why they made that change, it felt so random
I actually think Gon's reaction still makes sense to Kite being killed if for nothing else but when Gon makes a friend he REALLY makes a friend. Imagine what would happen if Killua was killed in front of Gon, he'd transform into something that could probably would the resurrected Meruem's ass.
Maybe they weren't sure if they were gonna make it all the way to Chimera Ant? or perhaps Japanese audiences know enough about hxh that they wanted to just skim the intro

Even if that's the case changing the reason why Gon decided to become a Hunter still didn't feel necessary, that and the change of Hisoka's voice from the original series are the two things I hate the most about the 2011 adaptation

There was only like... 5 years between both series. Pretty sure they cut the intro parts because they're still too familiar.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. Very solid dub. I look forward to it each week. Only element of the cast I'm not sure about, is the narrator lol. Not sure if this guy is gonna work, come the Chimera Ant arc lol.

Censorship seems to be the same as what aired. Killua is still holding the heart in the piece of shirt.
I think the overall transfer is pretty good, but not mind-blowing. Yu Yu Hakusho for instance, now that kinda blew mind. It looked crazy good on Blu-Ray to me lol.

Literally watched that episode last night, it was so damn hauntingly sad I couldn't sleep until 5 am. Shit fucked me up beyond expectation. Twisted shit man.

Okay so this is something I've wondered for a while. How strong is Hisoka? He was absent during the Chimera Ant arc but I feel that he wouldn't have been able to stand up the higher powered characters of that arc like Morel or even Palm post-transformation. I know he would stand no chance against the higher ranked Ants, but what about God Speed Killua? I definitely feel he could beat Hisoka.

You up to date on the manga? Hisoka can be beaten with enough prep time, but you still have to be strong to do it.

His nen has both the properties of rubber and gum.
Killua + Godspeed can decapitate Hisoka with his claw before he even has a chance to react.

Yeah he did fight Youpi and actually survive in that state so it does make you wonder how strong Killua currently is. Him fighting Chimera Ants did camouflage his actual power pretty well since they're a lot sturdier than humans. Him not being stupid also helps.
