February Wrasslin' |OT| Observe THIS, Brother!

I remember liking Glacier when I first started watching WCW, he wasn't my fav wrestler (Sting!!!) but he was pretty... cool.

Even back then I understood he wasn't gonna be main eventing against Hogan or anything but I remember being invested in his feud with Mortis and to a lesser extent the Cat/Wrath stuff later on. That was his spot on the card, everyone had their 'story' and I understood why it was happening etc.

Younger me is so different, I could watch Bash At The Beach 97 top to bottom and know and care about why each match was happening.

Now I fast-forward through 75% of Raw and can barely give a shit. :(

Was being a kid/mark just more fun? Is it too much wrestling now? Like by the time you get to the PPV you've seen those guys wrestle each other so often on the weekly show you don't care anymore. Or is it just a case of the 'top guys' they're forcing now being shit so you lose interest?

I'd like to see the Hardys back, although I'm not quite sure what they'd do with them.

You may be cocky walking into this match, but once it gets going, I'll give you the ass whooping of a lifetime!

I just thought I'd let you know that I was listening to Bustin' while seeing this gif and part of it timed up so well. I haven't laughed that hard in a while because it caught me so off guard.

DON FUJI HAS A SON AND HE IS A DRAGON GATE YOUNG BOY

I was dying to see you put over Jake Lee, Naoya Nomura, or our man Kengo Mashimo. Unless you were endorsing The Big Dawg Shuji Ishikawa as the favorite.

I guess I'm not so sure that Doering is the favorite to win and maybe, just maybe Kai won't be shit. Otherwise I'm super ultra hyped, AJPW are just on a fucking roll right now.

There's no point to the Hardys in 2017 if they're not in their broken personas. Especially Matt. Which makes the idea that WWE would force them to just scrap it funny, since that's likely the whole reason they're even considering bringing them back.

I would think creative control is the huge sticking point to getting them back. Matt and Jeff have a good thing going creatively and don't seem to be in a need of money. They probably want to keep the story going into a possible WWE stint, but don't want Vince and them telling them how to do their shit.

Personally, I think they'll just resign with TNA and keep doing what they're doing.

I think it's both. We're old AND wrestling isn't what it used to be.

It probably helped that WCW treated it like it was a real sport. Tony Schiavone made it all sound real and important. I remember ordering WCW PPVs in 1997 and needing to see every single match.

Your telling me that the company that had the triple cage doomsday match, the dungeon of doom, jim herd's entire run, WW3 treated like a sport

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jeff Jarrett and Ed Nordholm met with ITV in the UK about the World of Sport project. ITV wants to launch World of Sport as a regular weekly television show, but they want to work with wrestling people to monetize the brand and get global distribution of the show; Anthem could put the promotion on the Fight Network and have connections for other distribution methods. ITV was looking at Anthem to put some money in, to get some responsibilities, in exchange for owning a percentage of the promotion

I don't think so. Bully Ray didn't seem like a dynamic character.

I think while it's possible they would come back as the nostalgic act, at some point they would do the curve or work towards Matt becoming #brokun simply based on the fan response.

And since Vince actually likes the Broken stuff, it would be a different story anyway. no-one really cared about Bully Ray.

It's weird but Nitro's production gave it a little bit of a sports broadcast vibe at times. Stuff like the Nitro Girls taking the place of cheerleaders and the ring canvas having sponsors on it. Its NWA lineage and quicker wrestling style sort of helped too. There were always brief mentions of wrestler rankings for title shots that were just bullshit but someone would believe them. You're right it is ridiculous but between WCW and WWF, the former at times looked a little bit more sporty.

Man, now that I actually have the roster done I'm finally able to get more hyped myself for GWF. It's also nice seeing the completed roster because now I'm able to see prospective tag teams and potential rivalries a little easier.

Also, note that I've added the pre-show time and fight to the GWF 1 post

I love the Dudleys, but in WWE's ground, you can't compare them to Jeff and Matt, specially considering Jeff used to be a merch selling machine.

I know I'll probably end up massively disappointed in the Mass Effect game, I know I'll be able to bitch and moan about, I know the story is going to be awful but

I'm still going to buy it. I can't help it.

I suppose when compared the the WWF I can see it feeling somewhat more realistic.

Data West

coaches in the WNBA
Kane really is the Nintendo of wrestling.

Really popular in the 90s despite not being near as good as his peers but getting by on his strong visual image. Continuously comes back and is shit every time but the people who loved him in the 90s continue to act likes hes a legend because muh nostalgia

Data West trying to bait me in, nope not gonna fall for that predictable one two punch, nope, nope.

MVP's finisher is some garbage.

Overdrive is the zenith of shitty wrestling moves.
Just looks like a dude awkwardly tripping over someone, and to think the Playmaker was still probably the best that move ever looked.
