I noped out after 10 seconds and I think I'm signing out of any Horizon threads until release. I dont want to know too much about the premise before going in. Game looks Fuckin goooood though, for real

Ye i thought so, i knew there were cave drawings since like the first trailer but none were focused on Aloy, it rly is like i said to tell the silent story of Aloy for this trailer.

Why would you use *not actual gameplay*.
I mean visually, gameplay would have sold me just as much on this game.

We have trailers for that already. It's still in-engine, but it's not gameplay.

Launch trailers are more about getting the thematic and artistic vibe of the game across to players more than they are giving them gameplay snippets.

Besides, with all the high review scores its getting, and the inevitable positive word-of-mouth, I think anyone concerned about gameplay will be sold.

Couldn't even make it past the first page without Zelda being brought up 😧😧😧 anyways that was a gorgeous visual focused trailer. Aloy wrecked that thunderjaw in one shot! Lmao

That trailer was actually pretty lame, IMO. I was sold on the game when the concept art got out, though, so I still want to play it.

But

How is performance on my old PS4 going to be? I'm totally not up to date with gaming thanks to uni, but should I wait to play this until my brother has a Pro (that I can steal, err, borrow) in a couple of months?

Check out the digital Foundry video, the game is 1080p with a locked 30. Both versions of the game are gorgeous. GG outdid themselves

Solid 30 fps with like minor drops to 29 this occurs rarely. Both versions run near identical its only the visuals that get a boost with the pro. No need to wait for a pro.

Not strictly true, you have two modes on pro, 4k and 30 or "performance mode" which is 1080p and 60 (may not be 60, but more than 30)

So there'd still be a reason to steal his Pro (since I don't have a 4k set only more stable performance or higher FPS was what I expect from stealing his Pro from time to time).

Great trailer that showed emotion instead of spoilering the games narrative in a chronological order. When I play games / watch movies where I recognize the cuts from the trailers I often get bored- It feels like I am seeing the same thing again, but drawn out. It removes the surprise.


Secondly I am glad they cutting and mood of this trailer is different from garbage like the ESO Morrowind trailer which is straight up juvenille hollywood-moronic-action trailer with all the usual cliches.



Let there be no doubt that PS4 is absolutely killing it right now. PS3 was a disaster, and it having Last of Us as a good final goodbye didn't change the dryspell and many disapointing games that troubled its existence. At this point- Nier, Nioh, TLG, FFXV, Horizon, Tales of Barseria, Resi 7, Yakuza 0, Gravity Rush, For Honor alone in the last few months is a stronger output than PS3s entire shit library throughout its existence.
