So I've been reading the My Hero Academia manga, and so far I've gotten to where the anime left off and I must say: it's quite an improvement. Mainly in that the pacing is much better, no more overly long introduction or minutes of Deku crying. It's been a pretty good read so far.

How can you know Boruto will be bad if it's anime original? Sounds like unnecessary negativity to me!

To fully explain myself would require a long rant on in how awful place Naruto ended up and what a blatant, disgusting cashgrab this whole Boruto endeavour is, so let me just say that I hate all the clone kids, I hate the increased importance of technology and I think with current power levels and state of universe, any attempt at carving new story in the setting will require blatant asspulls, retcons and all round hackjob. Boruto the Movie, Sarada Gaiden and that notLuffy's special thing already featured that in droves.

I'll grant it that (now that I actually checked), Yamashita in director's seat could possibly make it better than usual as far as production goes but then it's Pierrot, I don't trust them to give him the resources needed to do that on an extended basis.

Well if you already don't like the characters thats one thing, but I just think that jumping the gun and saying something will be bad before it even airs is just not necessary. I personally like the Boruto crew and find the new generations design pretty cool.

Let's wait for the few first episodes and we will see. It might be the best show to air in spring!
I joke, that spot will be for MHA

Yamada is one of the reasons I am really looking forward to it. She has contributed to some of my favorite KyoAni works like Air, Clannad, Haruhi Suzumiya, Beyond the Boundary, and Hyouka. I see a lot of inspirations from Beyond the Boundary, Hyouka, and Clannad's animation in A Silent Voice. I think that is why I am so excited for it. That and I love the themes and type of story the movie is going for.

Hearing your impressions has gotten me a bit more excited! :D

So none of the things that Yamada was lead on, then? That bodes well for your enjoyment lol

She directed some great episodes on Beyond the Boundary, Hyouka, and Clannad. She was the lead on K-On (which I hear is good) and Tamako Market (which I'll be starting soon). So I am familiar with her work. Still excited for it nonetheless.

Edit:

Hey, I watched Green Green, lol.

But this one is Siscon Yuri.... hmmm.

I can't wait to read reactions, lol.

Hmmmm...

Damn. Where's my ReDeYe gif when I need it.

Ha ha, yeah, that's a funny statement. When the culture at KyoAni is such that their top directors usually contribute something to every project, you really can't use that kind of reasoning.

No need to be like that. I stated that she contributed to things I like from KyoAni (which is most of their shows), and pointed out she was a episode director on some of the episodes that use framing and animation the way the movie is using.

Her specific framing of shots is why I am interested. Naturally, as a KyoAni fan, I have the upmost confidence in the work they collectively produce. But if you guys want to continue being passive-aggressive about it then have at it.

I know, I know - I was just joking based on the fact that the shows she's generally most associated with were pretty much the only shows excluded from the things he listed.

I wasn't trying to be passive aggressive, just amused at the examples you pointed to for being excited about Yamada's involvement in the particular on the film. If you have something specific about the Yamada directed episodes in all the shows you mention that you see as distinctive and valuable in contrast to the rest of the episodes, then I can somewhat understand your position.

Oh, sorry, I was agreeing with you!

I was responding to the specifics of what DiGiKerot pointed out about her directorial style:

The material itself is a pretty great fit for Yamada's particular tendencies as a director, though - lots of leg-acting, really clever use of sound and music, some cool bits of impressionistic and abstract imagery that feels like it's feeding back from her love of things like Belladonna of Sadness a little, and humour that lands when appropriate.

Which reflects in the episodes she did direct like episode 5 of Beyond the Boundary or episode 23 of Clannad or episode 9/14 of Hyouka. Paired with some of the stuff seen of K-On and Tamako Market (didn't point these out because I haven't seen them to their end; whereas I did with the others I noted) and it makes for an exciting resume of stuff that has impressive animation, framing, and imagery.

You are a pioneer, stop hesitating, lol

Not hesitating. Just trying to figure out if you're messing with me with some of those comments or not. I am committed at this point.

Fate/Zero 06

More proof Saber is lame - she can apparently commandeer and master anything that counts as a mount or vehicle but Ilyasviel is the one drifting around in a nice car blasting Eurobeat

Gabriel Dropout Satania's Revenge 8

After last week's diversion the true star of this show returns as loud as ever. Of course Satania really is her own greatest bully.

I don't think the anime is bad, but I do agree the manga has much better pacing compared to what the anime was offering. Though I generally feel that about almost every anime shonen I've watched.
Edit: oops double post

I haven't bothered with Boruto outside of the manga's mini special chapters before it became a monthly series but I agree, it really soured me on the whole franchise.

DAI-GUARD #25 Thoughts that Keep Piling Up

Final episode next, Im going to miss my favorite office workers saving the world with support from the Army. Shirota continues to get best character award, putting his whole career and livelihood on the line just on faith in Akagi and faith to not ruin JPN with OE weaponry again. Great.

Absolute Duo ep.7
Tor is building his little harem one girl at a time. I just wish he was a little more of a man and less a weanie when it comes to his ladies.

Other than that, this is still pretty "by-the-book" boring.

Great animation here, especially the car chase.

Meta moment in the beginning, where Sucy decides against testing the potion on Akko because making her too competent would be boring. It felt like it was directed at everyone who was complaining about her being too useless, lol.

ClassicaLoid Episode 18 – MitsuruLoid and Gyouna-kun

How did they not know that that wasnt Sousuke. I feel so bad for him that they couldnt tell him apart from a robot.

I did like that he got to sing his song again, its one of my favorites.

Mozart had a nice fun time too, kind of wish there was more screentime there.

Spring looks barren?

looks like the most promising season in the last 5-10 to me :p

granted I tend to like the light novel adaptions so a season of a ton of light novel anime is no doubt promising to me :p

anyways horizon zero dawn first thoughts....
ff15's character models look like garbage in comparison lol.

(actually real first thought was DAMN THAT BOX IS BIG! but still)

You know what, who cares if it's a bunch of shounen style grandstanding. This arc has made Happy a man dammit. Not only that, but the best "mascot" character in anime. Protect your love Happy, protect her no matter what! I love this shit.

Wow finally yes please

Too bad much of the episode was really sad, quite a memorable to You but then it exposed the sad poor life he lived. At least he managed to put some joy and change in many peoples lives.

The cliffhanger was ....

I feel like they could dial it back and not be boring or at least make Akko much less insufferable.
