It'll probably take a few seconds assuming you can access it before beginning the game.
And if the language is not written as "English" just try to find 英語(English), 日本語(Japanese).
I'm pretty sure the options are not crazy hard to navigate.

nice thanks

Is Disgaea 5 a hard game? I usually suck at SRPGs but the trailer looks really cool and I'm looking for more Switch games after Zelda.

The puzzle type maps can be awkward without understanding the mechanics but Disgaea 5 has gotten rid of the silly stuff like having to do diagonal throws with manual timing.

Otherwise you can always grind to overcome problems. Its never really necessary in story mode but if you're feeling frustrated with a map the option is there. Post game its mandatory but the post game basically is structured grinding in order to bear enemies who have ludicrous numbers for their stats (most Disgaea games have a final boss at 90-100 the last post game boss is 9999 with stats several orders of magnitude higher than a normal level 9999).

Every copy of Zelda is the same. The language for the VA and text is determined by the system's language.

That is what I was expecting. I was just wondering if there is comfirmation already (not about the mix and match, that was comfirmed by Aonuma himself)
Thanks!!

I'm confused.....on Google Chrome on the Order Page for Disgaea 5 or Setsuna says "2017 year March 4 days" for Delivery date.

Does that mean its coming on Saturday? Because that seems stupid fast coming from Japan. Really considering ordering Disgaea to avoid waiting 2+ months (I don't need the CE since I have the PS4 one), and Setsuna for Physical

Worth doing another shout out for UK Switch GAF that Disgaea 5's CE is also available on the Nintendo Store.

I tried Disgaea once (the very first) and found it super complicated compared to mainstream tactical RPGs. Is d5 more or less the same?

Ordered I am Setsuna from Japan!

Solaris Japan was effortless.

My first import purchase ever. Now I understand why region-free was so important. Great job guys.

I have Disgaea 5 Limited Edition pre-ordered from NISA, so I can wait on that one.

Huh, I didn't know ordering from Amazon Japan was so easy, nice. $44 and I've got I Am Setsuna on its way to me. Neat!

Yeah, like $6 for international shipping is pretty great. Good to know it's such a simple process - I figure I'll be getting some use out of it in the future.

No. There's been 2 major mechanical revisions between 1 and 5. The systems themselves are more complex now but Disgaea 1 didn't really have complicated systems for an SRPG. It was just terrible at explaining them and when to use them as well as putting some super awkward access gates on things and some bad implementations in places. Nearly all of thats been removed or polished.

amazon jp? they're using dhl for global shipping

Don't worry. Surely Nintendo will as they have in the past with Dragon Quest games.

Yeah, in 3 years like DQ VII. ;)

I get that they aren't releasing it here at launch because Heroes 2 isn't coming out until late April, but if 1+2 isn't day and date with the ps4 version of 2, I'm going to be really upset.

So can I get disgaea straight from. Eshop and play in english?

That does appear to be the case, yes.

Why the gap between releases, I think is just as simple as NISA not wanting to get completely clobbered by Zelda in the west and also positioning itself as the next big single player game once people finally get through BotW.

Fantastic news! I was disappointed Setsuna was not getting a physical release in the US. I'll be importing after a price drop from play-asia.

We would have heard something about it by now if they were intending to release it alongside DQH2. Despite the technical downgrade, Squenix would have a hell of a time explaining to customers why DQH2 on its own costs as much as DQH1+2

Well, I was unable to use my (non-Japanese) credit card in the Japanese shop. Going to grab a YEN card through Play Asia and try again when I get the code.

ETA - I see why Japanese devs don't like reverse importing. These games are expensive even by my warped Australian sensitivities.

Okay. Got Disgaea 5 of the eshop. Can confirm that you can play in English (in fact if you're account is set to English it defaults to English). Seems to be the same English voices as for the PS4 version as well.

Content wise there doesn't seem to be anything genuinely new (there's the 3 special prinnies that never got an English release and a 1 Million Hell Gift DLC that I don't think came out in English either) but there doesn't seem to be any extra scenarios etc from a brief inspection , there's not even the promotional partnership DLC stuff that never came out in English.

Ordered from Amazon JP, £10 more than it costs to buy digitally but at least it has some resell value at a later date!

Once bought and downloaded, can you play it on your non-JP account? Like, the same as PS4? Or do you need to be logged in with the JP account?

If this is as seamless as it sounds, my day 1 purchasing plan just got a lot more complicated.

Me too, very close to getting Disgaea immediately tomorrow, lol

Just checked and yes. You can choose the account to use at launch and it doesn't have to be the one that bought it.

So far the Switch seems to lack any concept of session persistence or default user at all any time you need to do anything that requires a user it asks which users. I guess this makes sense since there's the two player half joy con thing but it still feels a bit awkward to have to select an account after launching a game.

How much did the Eshop cards cost you? I cant decide if I want to go physical or digital

Had to go 5000 + 3000 the total was about $AUS108 / $US79 which is like $20 more than console games normally launch for in Australia, around $5 of that was the reseller markup.

Ah okay thanks. It would be better for me to go physical then, its basically $20 more for me.

Thanks for all the replies though, glad to see its the same as the English game. Its a nobrainer to order it now

Thanks for checking. Looks like there's going to be some Disgaea in my near future, dood!
