hahah. Never tried to override a stormbird.

I know its not in the game but they should implement it in the sequel where you can ride a stormbird. I feel like its the one big missing thing from HZD, a flight mechanism

For sure, would be basically the "airship" of the game. Another thing for the sequel is that each enemy should drop a unique weapon. For instance, the sawtooth could drop its fangs so you got another melee option.

Oh wow, 40 hours in and just found my first vantage collectible. Those are really, really cool.

I am have so much fun just very slowly wandering the world post main quest completion. There are so many beautiful sights to behold.

I am so hopelessly in love with this game.

Is there an easier way to shooting those surplus tanks off the spider bot enemy types? Like can you just one shot it off and with what weapon?Takes forever with a bow.
i wasn't a big fan of Shadow fall, but gg really out did themselves with Horizon. Fun as fuck and the game itself is just gorgeous.
This is their best game by far. They changed up their game skills dramatically.

If I was to try and really sum up my feelings for this game so far it'd be this.

It is quite simply one of the most novel gaming experiences I've had in a long time. This reminds me to be mindful of just how awesome this first experience is. This is nostalgia in the making.

y.

its pretty easy to shoot it off. You shoot it off the back where their weak spot is. - the band

Is there a way to upgrade the Carja Hunting Bow to do any decent damage? Even tossing a 43% damage coil in it barely ticks the meter up. I know the Carja Sharpshooter Bow is a nice bump, but I like the dirt cheap arrows for the hunting bow.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
So first cave with power cells - how can you tell where to turn the holo locks? I don't see / can't figure out the clue.

Look at the
Times on the 'clock' on the right - they correspond to an analog clock position

In other news, I must have the absolute worst luck with animal skins. Come on, Aloy, it's literally an arrow into their neck, you should be able to skin them no problem :(

Did I just have the Hunter's Lodge story spoiled for me by a glyph in this game? The glyph is right beside one of the characters you have to talk to, it's sort of hard not to scan it.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
The one thing I feel like it's missing is bigger variety in quest rewards.... always feels rather bland

After about 30 hours I think i'm going to mostly just push forward with the major story/side quest content. Exploring endlessly just isn't fun for me in open world titles when there isn't much beneath the surface. It's just another vista to look at. As great as Horizon is it still suffers from the pitfalls of the open world genre.

Ahh it's the first thing I noticed and then ignored it. Thanks!

You know I think it's best we don't judge a dev by their last game, considering the fact that they were rushing for the ps4's launch and the staff and staff count are pretty much different. Dev time is also another factor

I think someone mentioned that hitting them with precision arrows nets a higher droprate; seems to work for me or could just be a placebo effect haha

I wandered around and saw that whole area way down below the
cliffs of Meridian
and at first didn't think I'd be able to actually go down there, but then I realized you could rappel all the way down. I messed around in the jungle there for a while and made my way to the
Meridian Docks
and then took an elevator wondering where it'd take me, only for it to take me all the way back up to
Meridian.

I guess I'm just so used to open world games where everything is kind of on a mostly flat map with a few hills and mountains, but the combination of the sense of scale and seamlessness of the world in Horizon is just blowing my mind every time I play.

Yep. This game is a mind blowing accomplishment.

I keep running out of Wire. I have tons of all the other resources but idk why the game is not giving me more wire.

After 20+ hours, I feel like the variety in quests design is also lacking, tbh.

Yeah, I have the same problem. It's the only resource that I run out constantly.

And I never use reload at all. I always craft them when it's totally run out of arrows.

I somewhat preserve their use nowadays as I have a quite good regular bow with tear.

The lore book in the Hunter's Lodge completely spoils the Hunter's Lodge storyline before you do it. Absolutely hilarious.
Are people still thinking this? It's clear that
the story is where Rost got Aloy's name from
. The devs arent willingly spoiling a quest for you, that doesnt even make sense

so disappointed right now. I just killed the
giant stormbird
in front of
GAIA prime
and its body flew up into the stratosphere for some reason and fell down onto a super tall mountain i cant get to

Haha, almost had the same thing happen to me. You can fight plenty more of them in other areas at least.

I'm level 21 and almost 14 hours in and my main quest is still level 14 lol.

And it feels like I still have a million side stuff to complete.

I can't ever imagine any 'tower' mechanic topping the Tallnecks... what an amazing view dang

I found my first one of these tonight - it was pretty awesome and I took a few cool pictures.

I keep trying to do main quest storylines and end up distracted doing all sorts of odds and ends. Exploring and just taking down creatures is just too fun in this game.

I wonder if you get more wire if you kill an enemy machines in a certain way.

if you need wires find the easy pack of grazers and striders. Loaded with them

also on higher difficulties, materials are rarer.

I killed around 20 striders and 10-15 grazers in my session last night and I was still lacking wire. One of the grazers gave me 12 Wires so that was cool. How do you kill them?

Aw, the Grazers scratch their heads with their back foot. The animations are just amazing. I sat on a hill and just watched two Thunderjaws for awhile (mostly trying to figure out how to get the metal flower some joker put right between them.)

You know that thing where people play a new game, and it retroactively "ruins" other games?

Well, every game looks ugly as fuck after playing Horizon.

And I have expressed my concern regarding difficulties in Horizon pre-release.

Rarer materials in higher difficulties is time-wasting, not making the game harder.

buy it?

i'm sure those thunderjaws wouldn't mind you running in there to grab it. have at it :)

My playtime is currently at around 20 hours with ~30% completed so far. The game is exceeding my expectations. Bravo GG!

My only major complaint at the moment is how quickly the enemies respawn. Like, I'll kill a group of watchers and walk away for a minute only to return to the same damn group of watchers I just finished killing. It's really annoying. It's such an odd design choice. :(

Had a cool moment where a thunderjaw was practically exposed cause I removed all the armor plate, I did a critical hit and he would run away wimpiring in pain.

Does anyone else wish that GG would follow FF15 and make a online co-op DLC?

I know, I know. People may not want multiplayer but I feel like the Hunting Lodge literally gives itself to a co-op mode. It would be awesome to either create or pick a pre-made character and go on hunts with friends with new variants of monsters and harder.

Would be so cool.

Imagine co-op Witcher-style monster contracts ala Redmaw? More legendary machines. Hunting them with a friend. That'd be mega awesome.

XV looks super ugly now to me, it wasn't a looker to begin with but certain lighting on the characters made it look great at times.

One of them literally tracks a very small circle right beside it. Some dev obviously thought this was quite funny.
I left them alone tonight, but I'll be back to get that flower tomorrow.

Interactions with water is my least favorite. Doesn't look good and physics feel off. A minor quibble.

I also found two NPCs I love. They bicker and argue so much and it's hilarious.
