THE ABILITY TO TRANSFER SAVES!!!
There's really the most important element, and everything else seems trivial in comparison.
For static pictures and text, of fucking course this hardware can handle it. OP isn't asking for 4K rendering, just a cleaner UI.

It would be nice to set a default user so I don't have to get asked which one to use every time I start a game or the eShop. Users should be able to have passwords set on them too, lest save data get tampered with.

Further proving this thing is a handheld with the console part tacked on. Not sure why so many people are against Full HD or UHD OS.

The os is so crisp as it is and I want to experience it with better IQ
If I recall correctly the Switch was only HDMI 1.4, thus 4K at 30fps only. So I don't think it would be a good idea for the UI (it would lose the smoothness of movement in transitions and such).
They could enable it for an hypothetical Netflix or video app though.

Parental controls based on what account is playing, not overall controls for everyone. I want to set parental controls for my 2 kids' accounts, but to do so, I have to set them for everyone. I want per-user parental controls.

Holy shit, is this why I can't set the output to 1080p on my display? They really need to add in support for unsupported 1080p displays and also 1080p menus and UI badly. This is my biggest gripe with the system.
My PS4, Xbone S, and even the fucking Wii U support 1080p on my Dell 2407WFP 24" LCD. It's annoying as fuck that the Switch only does 720p on it.

it should output the resolution you choose but the UI is rendered at 720p which means it'll upscale that image.

- A way to send a simple text messages to friends. The least they can do. Xbox Live has done this since 2000 ish. Within the actual system not just via an app.

I don't know how digital gifting isn't a basic feature on all systems. It's only on Xbox right?

The option to see controller battery level when I hit the home button, rather than hitting the home button, go to controller setting and then seeing the battery level.

Netflix and other apps must be coming, there's a power saving option to not go into sleep mode while media is playing.

Gonna be an interesting journey for sure to see the features evolve. And an aggravating one when they don't add/fix simple stuff. The whole eShop stuff is crazy. No cart is absurd.
