COMICS!!! |OT| March Harley Quinn does the Banana Splits

You didn't like his Magneto run?
I forgot he did that, so no. I dropped his Uncanny, and the CW2 X-Men tie-in amounted to fucking nothing except "War's a comin'!" and to remind us that Rachel Grey still exists. I read the tie-in Mercs for Money issues for IvX, and those were okay.

None of it makes me excited for X-Men Blue. At all.

Yeah, it's bigger than I thought it would be. I love to just explore the beautiful world.
I can't wait to dive into that game. I decided to wait until I was done with Zelda before I start. And I put in 6 hours or so into Zelda. This is the first Zelda game since OOT to get that sense of exploration and discovery. This is the overhaul that was long over due and greatly appreciated. But like all the other games I still can't muster much energy for the side missions or side NPC characters. Still great game though

Finished Descender Vol .1 this morning, some good sci-fi and a couple neat twists, but the book really shines with the art, the mostly subdued, washed out colors with some deep red to contrast it every once in a while.

Also, Galavant only having two seasons is a fucking travesty.

Just re-watched Captain America: Civil War. Definitely a top 10 contender for me (re-watched for the Superhero Movie thread). I have to say, before Logan, this was definitely one of the bleaker superhero films. Now it can barely be considered that by comparison.

"bleak" is maybe the worst adjective to describe Civil War? It's a film that can't commit to any argument, because that would make the Marvel franchise look bad. It wants to reassure you about the future of the Avengers to the detriment of having actual stakes.

Yeah "bleak" is a bad choice. It's certainly one of the darker ones, though. Though even then, it's not that dark.

I guess what I mean to say is that it's surprisingly dark, something I forgot since I had seen it the first time.

Bunn seems to have the same problem as Lemire in the sense that team books are his achilles heel. His runs on Magneto and Sinestro both were great. His Moon Knight was decent but had the misfortune of being the follow-up writer to Ellis, which is a kiss of death for anyone without the last name of Millar.

It's surprisingly dark there towards the end but is wrapped up too neatly for my tastes. You can obviously tell where it's going at the end. I would've actually preferred a little bit of uncertainty in the narrative to hold us over.

Is the movie now far worse or better now for you? Sorry, have problems understanding your posts, its one of my worser days again...

Yea, I thought the first few issues of that volume were quite by the numbers but it picks up towards the end and starts to shake it up. Volume 2 is even better, I would really recommend it. The world building really goes a notch higher and starts to make the whole thing more intriguing.

coming up this september from Marvel: AVENGERS STAR WARS, SPIDER-MAN STAR WARS, and WOLVERINE STAR WARS

Marvel is events and #1s(though this seems to be changing), while DC is Batman and more Batman.

Marvel should team up with IDW and do a Star Wars crossover with Star Trek assuming Disney would allow it.

You made me check where IvX and the new #1 Daredevil Family books ended up. I'm guessing they expected more from Elektra and Kingpin since they're ongoings but IvX...

I'm pretty sure Marvel expected it to stay in the top 10 until the end going by the last events.

yeah an ongoing Marvel event not cracking the top 10 is a reaaaaal bad sign

almost as if the inhumans were fucking sales poison that everyone hates and that will never carry a book, much less an entire goddamn line

IvX is smaller than the big summer events so I wouldn't compare it to stuff like CW2. Elektra seemingly did better than I expected, but both books will probably be gone later this year when Marvel starts implementing their changes regardless of where they hold.

The Inhumans can carry a book above cancellation numbers, but they should just get one book like the Royals book we are getting and stuff like Ms. Marvel.

Avengers is out of the top 50! People can say that Bat-stuff will always sell but Avengers, a guaranteed billion dollar movie franchise should be the same way. Killing that brand to the comic buying public takes active effort.

Avengers is underperforming, but it wasn't a Batman level seller even before that.

Justice League is still selling. Goddammit.
It seems to have less readers than it had before Rebirth if that makes you feel any better.

Avengers had a short sales spike back then after the first movie released, it went back to "A bit better then usual" a couple of months after that.

It really is incredible. One of the most satisfying open worlds to explore in a long time. I've just completed a quest line in a location I discovered by pure chance far off the beaten path than was wonderful, they do a really good job of leveraging the concept and the cultures they've imagined with this game. Lvl 25 I think right now, anyone know what the level cap is?

For anyone interested in where I was, head towards the
banuk figurine in the top right region
on the map :)

Before Rebirth it had Johns onboard doing a crisis without any tie-ins so the sales were obviousy quite good. Now? Hoping the rumor Snyder is taking over after his "event book but not really" is true.

From Ellis' newsletter:
I have one unannounced comics project on my board. Two announced but unproduced. 18 issues of THE WILD STORM left to write. I've written the bible for the second Wildstorm book, MICHAEL CRAY, and in summer I'll be completing the bible for WILDCATS. Two volumes of INJECTION left to write. I need to settle on a third volume of TREES, as I'm not totally happy with what I've developed so far.

I feel... done? Almost done? I dunno.
Sounds like he likes writing bibles more now that he's older. Those 2 announced books are the Image Expo one and one I can't remember currently I'm guessing.

I'm expecting Snyder to write a Duke-related book after setting it up in ASB and the event.

Maybe Snyder on Justice League?
That's what I'm thinking. Really want to know who's going to get the second Wildstorm book/Cray or the third/Wildcats but we're probably not going to get any info before Fall/Winter when the bibles are done and they've had a few months of groundwork.

That's three of the four Wildstorm books then. I'm still expecting the fourth to be Stormwatch.

I wouldn't mind a Stormwatch book.

Has the writers for the other books been announced.
Nope. He finished the Cray bible like a month ago and it looks like they'll want a few issues already done before publication so we'll probably start to hear about writer and artist in a few months.

Speaking about Stormwatch, just picked these up from the library to fill time before #2 comes out.

Maybe the revival means we will decent editions of the old stuff. Absolute Authority goes for crazy prices...

Same, but considering the Avengers are in complete shambles near the end and the government is cracking down on powered individuals, I'd say it's a fine way to end things. Everyone is scattered everywhere.

Is the movie now far worse or better now for you? Sorry, have problems understanding your posts, its one of my worser days again...
Now that I can watch it without the hype tinting my vision? About the same. It lacks any real complexity or layers, but it has some really good action scenes and character moments. It's a really good action film and not much more.

The Stormwatch HCs are pretty nice and should still be available. I got mine a few months ago.

There's never been any kind of long term correlation between movie success and comic success- especially if we're looking at print sales.

Digital skews toward newer and younger readers, but rarely do we get data on that outside of a few PR pieces here and there.

There's a two volume hardcover set of Stormwatch that's still in print and neither volume are terribly expensive. Those are some great comics, enjoy.

Zealot is supposed to be the fourth book but things could change since it won't be out for another year or so.

Ah, I didn't know there was going to be a Zealot book, nice.
