So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Super easy to get in Sweden. A bunch of good, reputable online stores have it in stock and the bigger media stores have it in stock all over the country.
I could go buy it pretty much right outside tomorrow ig I wanted to. Did not expect that since "everyone" was complaining about not managing to pre-order any. I guess they just wanted to get it from a game store because they are all out atm.

No luck so far in Oakville-Mississauga area (Ontario). Tried a bunch of bestbuys and EB games and they won't say when they will restock. Have had Zelda since the third so it hurts even more not to find one lol.

Even more on Craigslist in DFW today. 189 listings. They aren't selling on craigslist. I expect more will store availability will be everywhere within 2 weeks.

Hang in there.

These things are going for ~550 for the redBlue version. Minus PayPal and eBay fees...

550 Canadian sale on eBay
-2.9% for Paypal, that's ~16 dollars
-10% for Ebay Fees, thats ~50 dollars.

550 - 55 is 484.

The price tax in is 450, so, for all of their trouble, the eBay scalper is making 34 dollars at best. For that 34 dollars, they're probably putting in more work than they'd like, but it's not the price one would expect after the NES Classic was tripling your money last Dec.

Now, if you sell in bulk, say, 5 of these, you're still making 170 dollars for all ten, but these aren't exactly crazy margins. And it's about the same profit as selling one NES Classic.

Expect a lot of people to return these in the next week. Stock will be there.

Don't buy from a scalper. Not for this.

Vidya gamers are also notorious for doing things like buying a console, playing the 1 game they want to play, and then returning it. Because of the Switch's launch lineup of Zelda, I can see a lot of people finishing Zelda, being like wat do now, and just returning it after they are done.

I checked 2 different nearby stores yesterday and they were both out of stock. I really didn't expect to get one but as soon as I entered Best Buy, there was a switch just on a table at the entrance. I asked if it was available for purchase and they told me it was the last one. I picked it up with Zelda and the Charging Grip. Afterwards, I went on a quest to get some other stuff like a game case and many stores seemed to be soled out of most Switch stuff. I ended up getting the Pro Controller from Walmart and apparently that was their last one. I think I just got really lucky.

I called Gamestop today hoping against hope to score a system.

The clerk told me that Gamestop (all of them, I guess) aren't getting any more units until Easter!

Does this sound plausible, or was the clerk just tired of getting Switch calls?

Eh. This is forcing me to wait, meaning that by the time we see a surge of restocking, I may be making more money, there may be more games, and/or we may see price drops (The system proper would be ideal, but I'm not paying $70 for a proper controller or $40 for SFII HD Remix. I would pay $50 for Bomberman if they patch it).

Call me greedy, but I'll take it.

I heard that from some other people who asked at GameStop too.

He maybe correct. If you look at there website they have a preorder bundle for switch and says delivery by April 16th.

Some UK stores are sold out, but Tesco still have them and have had for days. I didn't order until the 2nd March and mine was just dispatched.

Nintendo fucked up by not having a sticker seal
You can easily put everything back in the box and return it :/
It's not just gamers, people do this all the time with items

I remember my friend used to wear clothes with the tags attached then return it

I really don't want to hear about stock problems in the US, I was able to get 4 units with little to no effort.

You realize that not every part of the US has the same amount of stock, right

Just because you got 4 units with "little to no effort" that doesn't mean it's easy for someone in NYC or California or something

This is a pretty dickish thing to say honestly!!

So not sold out everywhere = doing bad

As opposed to Nintendo is doing better on supply and not trying to create artificial shortages?

You really should stop shitposting or whatever it is you do with your extremely rose tinted glasses in every thread.

Still nothing in Ogden, Utah.
Target said that probably next week, tho.

At this point with the Joycon and Dock issues, I might wait until Christmas.

Did my errands today and went to a Wlamart, target, Best buy and Game stop.. none had any in stock. At Target they were even telling a woman they didnt knwo when they would get more. And then I have friends complainig on FB from both US coasts about how they want to buy it but cant find any.... seems to be hard to find but not impossible.

Seems much easier for our EU friends.

Will be curious to see if nintendo reveals numbers on launch sell through.

I live in a small town in northern Ontario and i can tell you no console or game has ever been sold out here around launch ever, but today i checked Best buy, eb games, walmart, toys r us and stables and all of them are out of stock.
It's either this thing is selling like hotcakes or Nintendo really undershipped.

I have a feeling it's all scalpers and understock.

My local best buy, (Indianapolis,IN area), had 8 gray and 1 neon this morning. I was 1 of 8 waiting at the door, the last unit got snagged shortly after opening by a mom and her teenage son. Had about 10 copies of Zelda, was blown away that not everyone bought a copy. Hardly any accessories though. Didn't have any cases or screen protectors.

I know that the two Brisbane EB Games here in Australia are all sold out of their first shipments. However Target, Big W and JB all have a ridiculous amount of stock lying around. Might be due to people not associating gaming with those retailers.

There simply is no demand in Australia. They're plenty everywhere. And the few scalpers who thought this will be a NES classic situation are in for a rude awakening.

You can return a console opened for full refund at most stores so don't see why it matters.
