Nioh |OT2| You Can Be My Yojimbo Anytime

PvP is coming, right? I have a feeling that Tempest & Backwave will get nerfed for PvP. Too much advantage for Sword users. As it is, people who are good at Tempest & Backwave will dominate PvP.

There's a long list of things that are "too much advantage for *blank* " in PvP.

Really excited and nervous to see what they've come up with. The absolute worst case scenario is a 1-to-1 copy of the base game untouched and just have arenas

Lol what is this song? This is awful ...

I know there's
an optional fight with Nobunaga and Yuki Onna
but I think I'll leave that for another time.

Anyways, I think it's fundamentally a "souls" game, but with a different feel and is overall much more forgiving. Which I appreciate, given other games I want to play. I didn't plan on getting the game, but I'm glad I did. I think it's something I've wanted a long time, but I'm probably not a good enough player to rely on a katana in an actual Souls game.

Can't wait when everyone just starts with Sloth and every duel is in slowmotion.

Also considering how much people complain about chugging in Dark Souls I can't wait to see their reaction to people healing in this game. It is so fast.

Any help?

Do you mean like you started ng+ and the last 3 missions are not unlocked? If that is the case you have to complete the earlier missions to proceed. You have to essential complete all the areas fully to unlock other areas.

Or you completed all those areas and missions and it still doesn't unlock? In that case I don't know.

Guys. Listen to me.

No, seriously guys, listen.

Just watch this video. It has spoilers for a regular enemy and the location is practically unrecognizable. Just, just watch the video.

In your face haha.

I recently did a fully charged Iao Slash on one of those elemental fiends crouching down in an unsuspecting position assuming it would really fuck it up. It basically didn't flinch and bludgeoned me to death during my recovery animation :/

Any tips for
Yamata-No-Orochi
? It's a super confusing battle and i have no way to avoid attacks coming from behind, plus i'm always mentally afraid to go vlose to the edge of the roof because in the Umibozu fight i kept falling off.

I bought the high stance spear skill that's supposed to perform a blowback attack when you ki pulse stance change. The description states, "When performing a stance change during a ki pulse..." In reality, the game performs this attack whenever you ki pulse normally. I don't know if this is a functionality glitch or if this was the intention, but in that case the description is wrong. It's a great attack, but not suited for every occasion. There are plenty of times when a regular ki pulse is needed and forcing this attack every time takes control away from the player. I was hoping to just use Iai stance (R1+Circle) to perform the move and stay in High stance, and of course have access to regular ki pulses. This is the kind of thing that I would want to see patched and it seems Team Ninja is keeping an eye out for stuff like this as they work on DLC and the upcoming PVP mode.

Move clockwise and hide behind the crystals. Then, when crystals are shattered go in for head damage. Also, just dodge around slowly while keeping ki up so when you have the opportunity to go in for the kill. Nothing should bother you too much. you can finish each head off in 1 combo with an element or carnage. Oh and final head just stay back avoiding element shots and go in when it slams to be safe.

Edit: i dont think you can fall. I did this a couple of times trying to get that drop and never fell off

it's the intention. the localization team have written so many of these skill descriptions so awfully vague that you don't even know what it's supposed to mean.
localization has been a bit hit or miss for this game.

there's a skill for that for every weapon(i think) and every stance.

I need some sense talked into me about my characters build.

I found a great spear and a good combo of equipment sets (warrior of the west x2 & legendary strategist x4) quite early in the game, which provided me with an excellent set of bonus effects that made the beginning of the game a breeze (enemy sense, treasure sense, change to attack B-, and Enemies defeated bonus A).

Long story short, between forging and soul matching, I've paid a very high price to keep all of those pieces competitive. I know there are far better pieces out there. I know I need to stop. But I've grown too attached. Help!

I think seeing superior sets/builds with better synergy will help me move on.

Go and farm some high level revenants. You may pick up some high level stuff which will inspire you. Experimenting and tweaking with this game is so fun so why limit yourself? Also, is enemy sense that useful? It's pretty easy to just keep an eye out and this game isn't that hard where something getting the jump on you is a catastrophe. Haven't been in NG+ though so maybe that changes.

I think they should have dojo battle: no omnyo or ninjitsu, just those three elixirs you get.

Considering it will probably be just a menu option I bet there will be a setting like that. Hopefully that isn't the only option though since it locks out lot of builds people can currently use.

For sure they should definitely have an all-in option too but one that's just the weapon skills would be pretty cool.

Isn't there a katana that dispels that stuff?
In addition sloth so far is dodgeable. Based on spell casting pvp in Dark Souls it will be hard and situational to make effective use of it against people that have some modicum of knowledge what they're doing.

You can't fall off in the battle so push against the edge for hits as much as you like.

Fighting revenants is an excellent suggestion, I haven't done that in a while, so that's probably a good focus that will help me break out.

Enemy sense is something I was obsessed with early on. Admittedly eliminating the element of surprise takes away some of the fun, but I think by now I have a good grasp over the game to give it away.

Random thought: how often does everyone focus on a few bonus effects vs spreading it across many categories? Looking at my stat screen and in realizing I'm all over the place. I need to consolidate more.

An option for Dojo battle would be sick, would be totally into that. Wooden sword beatings

Don't know about the katana.

And yes sloth is dodgeable on reaction. However if you have the mystic art for faster casting and punish the other player for whiffing slow attack with it you can get it in. You could probably even get that in out of a parry or via other setups.

How rare is reforging the change to strength/skill/heart/etc attribute? I have a dual sword that I transferred close combat damage to, so I'd have to reforge to get the extra attribute scaling.

Have you done the dojo missions? I think I pretty much did every single mission before the other areas unlocked.

I haven't done all of them or the twilight missions.

I have completed the missions and beat the regular game, and when I hit square to switch to mark of the strong only the first three areas show up.

Thanks for the help guys and I don't mean to clog the topic with my issue.

Not sure what the name was but it has the effect purge on ki pulse. It read like it was about removing any kind of debuffs poison, burn, etc but I'm not too sure about it.

You have to beat a good amount of missions to fill up the first bar to begin unlocking more areas.

Yeah, that'd get rid of Sloth... if the other player is chucking Yokai Water Pots. Otherwise, it wouldn't be too useful against duels against humans.

Oh f*** me, finally beat NG+ Tachibana/Whoever Second Guy Is duel. Living weapon at critical with carnage was the only way it could be done (with of course sloth, weakness, and lifeseal on top).

Oh man, getting destroyed at the double Boss fight Nioh.
Seems like they nerfed the cheap way? (Spirit / Amrita spam.)

I thought they nerfed that a long time ago?

Which double boss fight are you having problems with? I found one to be really easy because one of the bosses moves really slow, so you can use movement to separate them and take them out...

The double boss fight with
yuki onna
was the only true hard fight in the game for me. My priority with this fight was hit both with sloth then weakness...then take out
yuki onna
as fast as I could. Hand cannon as many shots as you can to start and then focus everything. Once you drop one boss, it because stupid easy like all the fights.

Don't worry about living weapon. You should be able to drop one of the bosses in about 30 seconds if everything goes right for you.

As rare as the colour they come in, which is blue/purple... So pretty rare.

Is there a good explainer article or video on all of the blacksmith stuff? I barely understand it.

Having problems with both of them :)
And you are right, they nerfed it weeks ago. I was not up to date.

Almost did it a few minutes ago, but then the slow guy started healing himself, and killed me, because i was all out of healing items. Damn.

Edit: Phew, i did it.
Now the other double Boss fight, with the ice lady.

Heir to the Nioh mission took me WAY too long. I dodge around like a mofo which is a recipe for disaster on that stage.

I also have to assume those who say Sloth makes the game super easy suck much less than I do! Pretty sure my problem is not making the most of openings I create.

Wow, Close Combat Damage +15% really DOES exist. Up until now, I've only seen it go up to 10.7% or something on a piece of gear.

I give thanks to the level 400something guy who bequeathed a Hoshi-kiri Tachi with it as an inheritable to me.

Speaking of, are people here still handing out nice goodies?

What's a good light armor set that has helpful bonus at 3 items? I have kodama bowl, 3 Fanatic (one is the sword), and rest are random. I have the -1 set req item, so I can equip 2 pieces of armor for a set and get the bonus for 3.

I'm looking and it seems like Yagyu armor is best, but IDK.

In both fights you can separate the boss from another.
The one with
yuki onna
is much harder in that regard.
Try to pull her in corner , provoke to attack you and then run to the other side of the room.
If everything goes well, she will follow you very slowly , while he catches up in no time.

What the fuck.

Even with Sloth I still get clipped by Muneshige's hyper armor moves. I don't know if there's any other human boss with as much hyper armor as he does.

(Yes I can beat him, I'm just aiming for the perfect title as I'm farming his smithing set)

Yagyu is good. All the dojo mystic bosses are good for their respective weapons.

Anyone have a inheritable Dexterity A?

Been doing the save / download and reforge for the last 2 days. I have gotten everything else to appear A, but have only gotten Dex C.

does your extra blacksmith points carry over to NG+? are you capped on how many points you can get?

Yes and no.

NG+ is just another option
called "way of the strong". You never lose acesss to any of the missions in the game. It's just a newly unlocked difficulty level. This isn't like Souls.

Still can't beat the double Boss with the ice lady.
But i just unlocked new game +.
Can i level up and get way better gear in new game + and come back to the double Boss later? Will it be easier then?

Revenants with kusarigamas tend to be running a particular Onikiba, which always seems to have what you're looking for.

I remember being able to see green dots on the world map in the first level where the little green guys are. Every level after it didn't have those green dots.

Can anyone explain why? I don't remember wearing anything special that would sense them.

Well, wearing something with Kodama Sense is the only thing that would put them on the mini map.
