Are you sure it
was Silver? I may need to double check but I thought those were all White Maned/Tier 3.

ahh im wrong. that is the white-maned one according to my compendium

Finally got past the beginning area of the game and wow it really does feel great once the game opens up. I'm finally free!

Man you have no idea. In retrospect to what ive seen thus far, that beginning part really is like 1% of it

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I have yet to see a single bear in this game. Where the hell are they?

Fought and killed a few in the forested area very early in the game, just west of the first stable you visit(the one en route to kakariko if following quest markers). I even mounted one, but didn't have enough stamina to calm it down to ride.

Thanks for the tip! I will take a look when I play later.

What am I doing wrong in following the shrine detector? It beeps, I follow. Then the beeping slows/disappears? So I turn around and follow. It beeps, then stops again? Is it like below me? Are some of them hidden inside mountains or trees or something?

It's not for any specific shrine, I think I just don't know how to read the thing very well.

It's either above or below you. They can be hidden in caves, behind waterfalls, past bombable walls, and so on.

The beep is basically based off your direction of movement, not your radius. So if it's beeping fast when you're moving straight it might totally stop if you veer slightly left, it actually cuts out more when you're even closer. But it could be above/below, yeah.

I turned the shrine ones off asap though but I've used it a bit to track other stuff, I think it messes me up more than it helps with anything that moves due to that.

I can't even get started on the Divine Beasts. I keep getting distracted and afraid i'll start moving along too quickly....

I realized today that I've been playing for a week now, at LEAST 4-6 hours a day, and I have yet to actually complete a dungeon. I started one, got my ass handed to me by a boss, went to go level up and then just got consumed doing other stuff.

This game is so rad.

Now that I know you ride deer and bears, my goal is to ride a moose.

My life won't be complete until I see Link riding a moose.

That reminds me, I found this Shrine
At the bottom of a Snowy Chasm on west-side of the Map and I have no idea how to open the gate to get to it.

is there a point to
taking the leap of faith into that zora lake by the sign on mountain?
I did it and nothing happened. I just stumbled across it so I don't know if it's part of a quest or sonething.

damn i havnt seen any bears yet either. I did see a fucking
rhino
when I was wandering in the top left region of the map.. im assuming its an endgame area since I was getting fucking rekt and had to run like hell.

I've been really enjoying running into uncharted areas of the map and looking for shrines just so I have a waypoint there. It can get intense/exciting if you don't have the tower unlocked and the enemies are murderous. I end up using my MGSV stealth action tactics to get around.

:( I dont want this game to end. I hope they add new DLC areas at some point

Holy fuck just when I was about to destroy that last decayed guardian, Blood Moon occurred and everybody respawned lol. Laser beams galore!

Without giving any spoilers, can anyone tell me how the game progresses if it's so open once you leave the plateau?

If you can go anywhere in the world from the beginning, how do they handle progression of the main quest line? Or is there no story outside of, "Kill the final boss."?

There's story. Quite a bit. It's gonna be hard to describe it without spoilers. Let's just say that the order you proceed doesn't matter. The two separate main story arcs are completely optional and not forced.

Screw trying to hit this balloon fair and square, I'll just spam the Smash 4 Zelda amiibo for the Twilight Bow later

Same for me. I was able to get to the dungeon boss in the
Gerudo Divine Beast
but couldn't handle it and left. This was days ago and I haven't been back. I've played for hours and hours and have accomplished nothing, and it's great!

Cleared my 3rd dungeon
Vah Ruta.
Thought it was the easiest one so far since
despite how huge it is, the trunk lets you fly anywhere.

Also had little to no trouble with the boss but that's mostly because I already knew the cheese strat for phase 1
from fighting it in Hyrule Castle
and because I've now realized
Urbosa's Fury is OP as fuck vs bosses, lol.

The ability
Mipha's Grace
seems really broken.

Where can I find a Silver Lynel? It's the last thing I need for the compendium. I thought
there would be one in Hyrule Castle like the other Silver variants but the challenge rooms stopped with a White Maned Lynel
.

The bottom floor of the open air Colliseum.

I've noticed that some of the crawling guardians are a lot more...eroded, particularly within labyrinths. Does that effect drops? I've gotten cores from them a lot

I've completely abandoned any attempt to "play" this game at all. Usually when I play a Zelda, the trick is gaming it. I aim to get to [x] dungeons within a day or so. I set certain progression goals for the story to balance it out with exploration of the overworld, etc. Here I'm just like... fuck it. After a week I realized it doesn't matter. I can pick up the game and literally play -any- way I like and it's satisfying. I just explore an inch at a time, going from shrine to shrine, cliff to cliff, cliff to ruin, ruin to tower, etc. There's always something to find, There's always a puzzle or a mystery or a secret around the corner. I'm just going to get lost in Hyrule and play this game for however long it takes. When I eventually get to the next region with a dungeon, I'll worry about it then. Wow.

This game is surprisingly great in small bursts. Usually Zelda games required you to put some time aside but now I can get a lot of enjoyment from just 5 mins of running around.

This is exactly how I'm playing. I know the content is finite and inevitably I will hit a wall, but for now freedom of agency in pacing and control over my own adventuring has lead me to simply booting up the game and playing unrestricted and without any neatly defined goal. I'm just engaging with the game world and so far haven't had a single moment of boredom or frustration, continually uncovering new content, zones, and shrines.

Whether I put in 10 minutes or 3 hours in a play session, I've found that the satisfaction from the game is exactly what you invest into it. You can have a small adventure or a big adventure. It's crazy!

The bottom floor of the open air Colliseum.

Last time I checked it was the tier 1 variant in there, maybe it changed since then though.

If you snitch out Kilton can you still buy his stuff?

Man I shouldn't have told on my boy

You can still buy from him. IIRC, If you tell the guy about Kilton, he'll tell you where Kilton is setting up shop for the night.

I'm still trying to figure out how to expand his shop though, not sure what triggers new items.

Ran into a
Yiga clan ninja
who attacked me right away... but it happened to be during a thunderstorm. I'd already put away my metal gear, but he was using that sickle. When I saw the electricity warning on my my gamer instincts told me "he's using this to his advantage." I didn't realize the metal-attracts-lightning rule applies to enemies too -- until a lightning bold knocked me on my ass and obliterated him and the tree he was next to.

I just realized this game is going to be getting LTTP threads for the entire lifetime of the Switch. It'll be cool to see other people get into it. :)

You can use this to your advantage by throwing metal weapons at enemies just as lightning is about to strike too.
