Holy shit.

I have to actively tell myself to stop fucking about in photo mode otherwise I won't finish this game.
HDR is very hit or miss for me, and I think it's something that won't truly show its potential unless you have a very top of the line TV.
I wonder how many people would take screenshots of the characters talking to each other though. lol

Yeah, I figured as much but nice to get confirmation.

I'm thinking of upgrading from the default ropecaster, on the trader screen they all seem to have the same base stats but do they fire stronger ropes or is the only bonus the extra mod slots?

Less ropes to take down bigger machines and I think it might have an extra mod slot, but don't quote me on that.

I only used the Shadow Ropecaster, but the description states that the higher rarity version is supposed to be more effective when trying to tie down larger enemies.

I'm doing the quest,
Traitor's Bounty
. Holy shit, these last guys are incredibly OP. One hit and I'm dead. I'm well beyond the recommended level too. /Shrug

The blue version fires medium ropes, the purple fires heavy - you will need those to hold the bigger machines. You can't hold a Stormbird down without the purple version.

Man, the collectibles are gonna be the most annoying trophy for me. Fast traveling is just gonna be load screens all day long. Ugh.

Collected all the mugs, getting close with the flowers. Not looking forward to the hunter challenges because I loathe timed anything and being scored for it.

Just 1 more powercell to go, just need to get to the later missions. Don't give 2 fucks on the present storyline, but enjoy the other main mission of unlocking what happened in the past.

Can someone please tell me, and I would say to be safe if you can respond in spoiler tags, but after finishing the main quest story, can you still
visit Rost's grave and will Aloy update him? Because right now I'm locked out of going into Nora territory because I have the All-Mother mission left to do. I'm not sure if I will be able to visit his grave still before finishing everything. Basically, I hope I don't miss a lot of Aloy's updates since it's been quite a few story missions since I visited last. Thanks!

If you're where I think you are then yes, you'll have 1 more chance.

Yes.

Also don't forget to talk to the main Matriarch woman after the ending when you go back, either

For the life of me, I can't find where this ancient vessel is:

I have tried to find a place to scale the ruined buildings, I've run all around, but I can't find squat. O_O

If I'm not mistaken, it's on the other side of the river, the side where you wouldn't expect it'd be (not ruins side). :p

love on your sleeve
Thanks, went there because it's a starting area and figured there would be a decent amount of foxes around. Got my fox skin on the second fox I killed and now I have unlimited travel abilities.

Good idea.

My eternal quest for Boar bone continues. I'll never be able to carry more than 50 resources. I haven't been this ticked off with RNG loot since Destiny. :/

Guys, I beat the game and I'm trophy hunting and STILL no Fox skin. I still can't do unlimited fast travel. This blows.

It's not too bad as long as you try and get all the ones in each area you go to instead of only focusing on one type of collectible at a time across the whole map. If you fast travel to a campfire pretty close by the load time is waaay shorter.

Welp. Looks like I need to boot up the game to go do this now lmao.

i might need to follow this strat.

requires a fox skin. that's my problem.

Might be my imagination but I believe that you get special resources from animals when you kill them with melee (strong attack) or special ammo types like fire or piercing. Everytime I use hunter's arrows I get useless meat.

Use harvest arrows it increases your chances of getting a fox skin.

Dumb question I'm relatively new to gaf and have yet to figure out how to quote multiple ppl, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Will try that.

Yea, tried it a few times and still nothing. I'll keep on a look out for more foxes while I do collectibles hunting.

Lol I had trouble too, find the bridge when you come from the south, before you cross, head west and it's there, in the debris, it's purple you can't miss it.
The thing is it's totally at the lower edge of the white circle.

Most of the foliage does not cast it's own shadow, there is a lot of ambient occlusion use though. It would be incredibly wasteful for all the grass to be casting shadows as there is so much of it. The tall grass generally casts a shadow, and of course all the taller items like the cacti and large rocks and strees, but the short grasses doesn't.

I realize people are not used to seeing "lots of graphics" though so when you see "a lot of graphics" a lot of times people assume there is more going on than there is. This isn't the only time it happens and won't be the last either.

I'm not taking away from Horizon graphics, it's the best looking open world game available by quite a long margin and does crazy stuff with the PS4 hardware.

Most of the vegetation do have self-shadows though, including the more abundant shorter grass. And the grass aren't just ambient contact shadows (like in FFXV) but are fully cascaded shadow maps. Maybe someone with a regular PS4 can confirm it's the same there but this is on Pro.

Yea that's what I thought, thanks for posting images. And it's the same on standard. Not all of the vegetation casts a shadow though.

RDR was one of my favorite games last gen. Unless they significantly improve gun play I'm just having a hard time seeing how they will be able to exceed Horizon in terms of the 1 v 1 combat game play front. I'm excited to see what Rockstar comes up with.

Hopefully some contextual melee, even more improved animations, improved AI with some huge battles at random, and more destructible environments.

One thing that never gets old though is pulling off head shots and see the hat pop off.

If RDR releases this year, 2017 will be the best year for the open world games, PERIOD.

Still having trouble finding an outfit I really like. Has been Banuk Ice Hunter Light for most of my playtime but want to try something else. The Banuk Sickness Eater ones are growing on me because they look like Pirate getup, but it still feels off somehow.

GG pls needs moar vanity

Minor gripe but they should really do something about the menu / loading screen music. It's super annoying and grating after a while, and it always plays from the beginning every time. I've also had it bug out on me a few times (I assume it happens when you have the menu/map open too long) and the music keeps playing on loop during gameplay. Had to close and reopen the game to get it back to normal.

Is there a way to turn off the really annoying resource markers? I look around the beautiful HUD-less landscapes (I've turned all HUD items off or to dynamic), but there are stupid fucking symbols everywhere for plants I don't give a shit about. It's surprisingly annoying.

Also, the day-night cycle moves too quickly.

Aside from those issues, I'm loving the game.

Yes you can, but
the last update I had was before Sunfall, after that and even after beating the story, there seems to be no updated conversation at Rost's grave :(

Unfortunately no, but I'm hoping it's something that will be added in a future patch.
