i feel like mac miller's 'faces' should have been released in two parts. 24 tracks can be daunting, 12 per tape would have been more succinct. nevertheless, the track 'wedding' is very important to me right now.
Don't know that one. I liked his last two albums. Was surprised to see he turned into a legit artist after thinking he would just be a Frat-Rapper and never following him after his first song.

I'm excited for that one good track stuck in the swamp of mediocrity and struggle bars. Plus, my workout playlist needs new dumb hype songs.

Listening to the new Oddisee album for the first time. I mean, lyrics are always a bit corny wih him, but the production is really smooth.

Is that a shot at J Cole on Rain Dance, though? Because I've always thought he sounds kinda like Cole.
My competition listens and they quick to imitate
Invited to the studio by so and so
And everybody think that I'm the one that stole the flow
Well here's a quotable
I ain't jealous or offended
I'm just glad to see reactions to a style that I invented

Honest question, is anyone here really excited to hear another uninspired, mediocre Drake effort?

i'm somewhat excited solely because i think this will be drake biting and ft a bunch of artists, and the dude has a good ear. views was bad because the dancehall shit was already played out and the rest of it was poor renditions of shit he's done before.

i do also believe there's nowhere for him to go but down tho

Dunno why, but I'm weirdly excited for More Life. I feel like it's going to be like a true mixtape full of a bunch of different vibes. IYRTITL was similar in concept, but it felt more like a collection of B sides and stuff from the cutting room floor of NWTS/Views
which is weird because Know Yourself feels like a hallmark moment in his career

The artists he's potentially Shang-Tsung-ing this time also interest me more than IYRTITL's roster of OVO Sound servants, but could also result in more eye roll worthy musings.

I used to listen to Real every day in the morning before going to school lol, love that song.
My condolences.

I don't abjectly hate the song, I just find the hook so grating now. There was a point where I liked the song a lot, but both that and "Black Boy Fly" have hooks that get grating after a point.

Two new Johnny Jewel EPs if you like the Italians Do It Better stuff, e.g. Chromatics, Symmetry, Glass Candy, etc.

The Hacker.
The Key.

I don't really know.

It was like, one day I enjoyed it, and the next it became a little annoying. I haven't listened to GKMC in a while now, so maybe it's just my memory playing tricks on me, but it feels like I can't stand the song now. It's odd.
Yeah, I know that feeling with some songs.

I used the Grant Green sample off Sing About Me for a high school mini-noir film lol, pretty great tune. And yeah Money Trees is still fresh to this day.

I can't recall any songs where I had the same experience with off the top of my head but I do feel like that has happened before. Listening to it again now, Real is still safe to my ears. The recording is kinda annoying but that outro Anna Wise sings absolves the song of any wrongdoing.

Dance With the Devil is one of the most overrated rap songs of all time. It's emotionally manipulative and completely over the top.

Agreed 100%. My eyes roll into the back of my head every time I hear someone talking about Dance With the Devil like it's one of the best rap songs ever.

Straight up, didn't know dance with the devil was as known a song as it is, I just randomly found it on immortal techniques album and thought it was a decent song

Nice story telling and unique at least, even though I agree it's waaaay over the top. Didn't realise it was so highly regarded by some

It's the backpack anthem, really. I'm not anti underground, considering that JMT is one of my favorite groups for one. I just think it's overrated as far as underground Hip-Hop goes.
