Final Fantasy's XV March Update To Add New Cutscenes In Ch.13 For Ravus and Aldercapt

Honestly yeah that part of the game always felt rather rushed & unfinished. Meanwhile I had no problems with chapter 13.
Hell, Chapter 13's problems are a mere speck compared to the huge drop in quality that the narrative as a whole suffered after Chapter 9. It's like complaining about the color coded Mass Effect 3 ending, when the entire final act on Earth was poorly executed.

This just confirmed part of the huge 4chan leak from last month

Schedule:

Ver 1.06: Chapter 13 adds Gladio as a playable character to this chapter, you go with Ignis the whole time and he needs to be protected. Some new cutscenes are added.

It's never too late to make a game better.

Nice derail though.

They should be adding a theater mode to revisit these cutscenes they're adding and that we missed, for those of us who already beat the game, we're left to having to sift through new uploaded YouTube videos.

It's just sloppy development, really unprecedented.

And we're done.

Bought it at launch. Finished it near launch. Dont even hate the game. Actually like it. Sits at a B-.

is too late

bbut but they intentionally designed an in-comprehensive story in this game!

Is that oh boy good or bad?
Bad oh boy Inuhanyou. Oh well...

I've said it before, I have major problems with the game as-is.

If they really fix the game narratively over the next year, I'll be all over it.

Of course I'll be pissed off that they didn't put in the effort in the first place... but there's no way I'm not going to give their attempts to fix things a chance.

Hell, look at FF14.

You get the "complete" game on the PS4/XB1 no matter what. It's not like you have to pay for the updates. Thanks to "teh future", we have the technology to get updated versions of games without going out and buying a new copy like we did back in the PS1/2 days. :)

Well, thats not the issue for me , its nice I dont have to pay for the updates but the issue for me is when I beat the game (a game I paid for how it was at release) and they keep coming out with updates - high chance of me not going back because I'll be moving onto other games. I'll be too busy playing Persona 5 , FFXII TZA and other games.

If this was a racing game or a fighting game sure, but this is a RPG that has been in development for a few years now (and I'm not even including Versus XIII junk/mess). As much as I hate saying it, it really does feel like a Early Access game if their doing stuff like adding more to the storyline which imo is very important for a RPG especially a franchise like FF lol.

At this point I dont even think I'll get the Season Pass/DLC for my PS4 ver and will just wait until the game comes out on PC eventually next year or whenever it comes out (and then wait for a sale and all DLC to come out before buying it).

I got no regrets in buying the game as it was back in December since I paid $40 - I'm glad I didnt buy the Deluxe Edition for $90 thats for sure lol.

I'm one of the folks that really liked the story as-is, but I'm totally down to replay it again with all of the added stuff as sort of a Director's Cut.

I find it unprecedented in a good way. Part of the game gets backlash, devs go back and add to it? Story gets backlash, devs add cutscenes? That's good dev team response IMO. It doesn't excuse its initial problems but there's nothing negative about what the XV team is doing here. Nothing but a better game is coming out of these patches.

This game is so weird man. Never before have I seen a game come out and make drastic changes to story scenes and elements of the gameplay so drastically as this shit.

I can understand balancing and bug fixes, but don't release a game and then change it months later by adding scenes and gameplay sections....how is this ok? It's tainting my opinion of this game.

I know, it sucks when devs try to fix what people complained about. How dare they.

Tabata clearly cares about the game and wants to make it better. That deserves respect.

I think certain fans just cannot accept the finished version of the game as Tabata's vision and largely ignore the fact that when enough fans complained, he and SE have done quite a lot of post launch work to address those concerns. It's not even uncommon anymore for AAA games to do this (see Witcher 3).

Little concerned they seem to be adding of all things an escort mission to chapter 13 if the leak is to be believed. We all like escort missions here don't we?

If it's anything like Katana of the Warrior dungeon then yeah there's no problem.

Patching story into earlier sections without consideration for those who are in the post game is a misstep, and helps illuminate their disconnect with their audience.

It's great that the eventual PC crowd will get a totally different and arguably better game, but if they're taking feedback seriously and iterate out of respect for the audience that bought into all the hype and marketing, they're still aiming these changes... at people who haven't yet bought the game.

Do you get what I mean?

So for those of us who have beaten the game will there be a way to access these new cutscenes and what not? I'm not replaying the story to see this shit.

I do get the backlash, you can only experience a game for the first time once. Anything they add after this point isn't going to change that initial experience for you.

Sort of reminds me of the Mass Effect 3 scenario back in the day. Yeah they changed things, but you already played through and experienced that story. It's a better deal for people coming to it late (like I did), but it's two different experiences.

Also there's the possibility that the changes they are making in FFXV might not take care of the problems people had in the game in the first place.

Waiting until every single DLC is released to revisit the game, even if that means at the end of this year. Although it didn't live up to expectations and felt half complete, I'm curious to see what they can salvage.

This feels very odd to me.

FFXV has a lot of problems with its narrative, but I would argue that Chapter XIII of all places has the *least* problems with its narrative (and the most issues with its gameplay by throwing out all the core mechanics...)

Instead of a glorious infiltration of the enemy stronghold in epic FF style, you find the whole place has already been gutted. Demons everywhere and raptured clothing littering the floor, creepy memoes about what transpired. It's well-trodden territory for games (System Shock, Bioshock, a million others) but it works well, especially compared to a lot of the rest of the game.

The problem was the gameplay overstated its welcome. Just cheesing through it all with more powerful ring spells doesn't really fix that. On the other hand, I think there are lots of other parts of the game that could have done with more cutscenes.

FFXV Before Chapter 9

Awesome Road trip story fighting monsters.

FFXV After Chapter 9

Every bad fanfiction trope under the sun plus plot holes around every corner

Decent changes, though I'd like to see several other systems overhauled as well. I'm willing to go through another playthrough and give this a fair shake, but these incremental updates are killing me. I guess I'll have to wait until they release them all, whenever that is.

Oooh I like this. I won't jump back into the game until most or all DLC is out but Gladio is my boyfri...I mean favourite.

Good. Keep on making it better SE. I plan to play through it again sometime in the future.

Lol, quite accurate.

Newcomers, I'd STILL advise you to wait a long time before picking this up. This is far from the complete package.

bbut but they intentionally designed an in-comprehensive story in this game!
At first, I thought you were making fun of the players but then I remembered Tabata's "it's Noctis' POV" spiel

I might just wait for the inevitable PC release at this point. No time for this with all the games coming out and I didn't get very far into my save, so I wouldn't be replaying too much.

The ring's dodge counter was already pretty broken, and now they're making the ring stronger?

Fair enough, I guess. Hope they add a chapter select, I don't fancy going through the whole game again to see this.

They aren't adding new story with these patches, rather expanding on what they have already told in the game. Consider it extended director's cut and then tell me how is it bad?

If you buy games at launch, no matter what they are, you will always get an incomplete package with bugs, performance issues and lacking QoL changes. This applies to majority of the games releasing this generation and if a developer decides to support their game post-launch, why do people start calling it incomplete. I will never understand it.

Bloodborne, which is hailed as one of the best games, was released with issues that affected it seriously like the minute long load times, bugs that could break the game rendering progress useless and more. They were patched post-launch but if you would have played the game at launch, you would have a much terrible experience compared to the late adopters. The same applies to Witcher 3 and it will be the case for FFXV as well.

However, if you enjoyed what you played, then I don't see why additional post-launch support will make your original experience bitter. Unless you have prophecy skills to see how the game gets supports after launch. It's a shame that FFXIV gets excused because it's an 'MMO' even though it didn't reach its current state until tons of patches after launch. So the original users who bought the game at launch essentially played an early access version of it.

Way too late. I already platinumed the game in December, and never going back to it or any dlc. Maybe in ten years I'll replay a remaster/port.
That's completely fine and this is how it should be done.

I have also platinumed the game and even did all the menace dungeons yet when I see any news about updates for the game, I am excited to see them since I know that if I decide to replay it one day, and by that I mean when they release all the updates, it will be a vastly different experience for me, improved in some cases. I won't have to buy another new copy here or purchase any 'enhanced edition' to go with it.

I'm still curious about Loqi. He has a name, a unique model and an introductory cutscene, implying he was intended to be a semi-prominent antagonist at some point, but then he just vanishes. who is he

Good for those who get the game now i guess.

Although the framerate in Pro version is shit the way they handled it.

Hell, look at FF14.

A persistent world, like FFXIV, is something different than a single player game like FFXV. How many players are going back to the game just to see the new version of chapter 13 when youl can't even select a specific chapter to play? ;)

Thing is, Final Fantasy is a legacy series. People do go back and play the games ALL THE TIME. The reason they are doing this is not to make money, its to make a game that isn't a blemish on the series like XIII was.

Good on them! Who cares if it makes business sense.

There also that old general , and and that black bearded guy who was Luna abuser in Dawn trailer was seen in the movie but not the game.

Man i really want to know what the fuck happend to this game.

Damn this ongoing support makes it seem more like an MMO. Very strange, and I think it shows SE was still not happy with the final release, but just ran out of time.

I could write that "leak", too. Every info was alòready available. We already knew months ago that the additional part would be playing as other mermbers of the group, we already knew they decided to add more cutscenes. Besides,
of course Ignis is going to be protected, he became blind way before Chapter 13 and is still blind during Chapter 13.
