Mass Effect Andromeda Graphical Downgrade

At this point Mass Effect Andromeda is a hilarious meme. These threads are cracking me up so hard for some reason lol.

I do hope the game is good. I played and loved the first game. This game just feels like a soulless derivation with jank remaining in a jarring new coat of paint. Hope I'm wrong.

This is so jarring and creepy. Different lighting in these two shots and the eyes resemble stickers.

I thought they would do mocap scenes for stuff like that. Can't be that pricey for someone to put on a suit and do some varied walks to get animations right.

I think it's silly to expect CD Projekt style animations and graphics from a small Canadian development house.

New engine and new team, they're just reusing the same animations from ME1-3 apparently. I just saw the famous cross-arms-lean-back pose by Ryder and the lean-back on left-leg-with-hanging-arms.

That animation bug you see is also replicated in ME3 if you reload between holstered and non-holstered weaponry.

I fully expect to see the "npc leaning on table and pushing off of it angrily to talk to someone" animation that was also in Mass Effect and SWTOR.

Also.

Woah this definitely needed to bake abit more. Screaming unpolished right now.

unpolish and rough technical edges are Bioware trademark.

This is jarring animation and model / shader non sens... Everything must be redone, from idle animation, to walking animation, to facial and lip sync animations...

Okay I'm absolutely dead now. Fantastic thread.

It's kind of sad actually. If there was ONE thing Bioware had to fix with the utmost priority, that thing was definitely the animations. And apparently they not only didn't fix them, they reused them and added new, worse ones to boot. Unbelievable.

The animations aren't the best but calling this a graphical downgrade is hyberbole. Seeing the early previews I am hopeful this is going to be the best reviewed mass effect game.
The textures and shaders on the faces look simplified compared to the preview shots. The eyes now look like low res, flat textures. I don't know what other term you would use for this type of situation. Hopefully the PC port fares better.

So much hyperbolic freak out in one thread.

That one walking animation gif with the gorilla did leave me in stitches though, I'll say that honestly.

People I've talked to over the last couple days playing the game have said it's stunning on both PC and PS4 Pro, so I think a lot of the downgrade thinking might be over blown; guess we'll all know (those in EA/Origin Access) in a few hours!

This thread is hilarious :) I think there are other things to worry about in ME:A , but of course I try to be optimistic.

Why are their arms so far behind their bodies? It's really starting to seem like this game was made by aliens with only a cursory knowledge of humans and how they look, move and behave.

Maybe that's what ME has been all along. Carefully concealed alien propaganda by a race of extraterrestrial beings that dwell among us in plain sight, posing as videogame developers.

That would certainly explain the way Shepard used to smile.
