I wonder why there aren't any superpower-based sports manga. I mean, not like a Kuroko's Basketball deal where the powers are ostensibly real human abilities, I mean straight up superpowers, like...wizard football or something. It'd work if you designed the power system right.

Also, make more series like Basquash except better written.

Why read any golf manga other than King Golf?
Well we only got like 3 chapter translated in 2016, if 2017 is the same we might not get any new chapter released this year...

But it's definitely on my to buy list if it ever get licenced here, really fun manga ( well it needs to be to make me enjoy something about golf that much ), not the usual MC you expect from a sports manga.

Jojolion ch. 63

Gappy with some real horror movie logic in the bathroom here. Of course the fly was gonna jump to something else. That uneasiness as you suddenly realize
it's a zombie baby outside the door
though. Oof.

Cool to see Yasuho have her badass moment.

This arc was totally AU Highway Star, just a thousand times more grotesque. Good stuff.

There is other manga about golf?

I might be biased, but golf has the potential for some serious badass shounen sports manga. Heck, read The Greatest Game Ever Played by Mark Frost, keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Hajime No Ippo 1172

Noone should stand in Aoki's way, that's the truth.
Manga would be way better with only Aoki/Takamura fights.

Fairy Tail 527

Well that was dumb.

You can follow Golf King if you simply love Golf in your heart...

As someone who hates golf, I wish we got translations fast =/

Prison School 244

Oh my god I fucking lost it when Kiyoshi's hand got stuck in Vice Prez' ass.

Hero-Sama, How is the Water? 5

Why the fuck do I read this shit instead of just porn that doesn't pretend it has any other redeeming quality?

Nude Model (One-shot)

A decent one-shot.

Basically a story about this guy in a band of deliquents who gets dared to sleep with an art girl who is always drawing and alone in the art room, called Noh Mask for her unchanging expression. If he can't do in in 3 days he has to play a punishment game. So he offers to nude model for her so that he can seduce her into sleeping with him but she remains focused on her art and has an unerring ability to make him uncomfortable by seeing through him.

Pretty decent art, though to be honest even when the guy gets naked for the first time I wasn't sure of his gender. I really enjoyed the Noh Mask's personality and the lead-up to the ending was pretty good. Everything after he pushes her down on the third day got really to the heart of the one-shot, about why he was really coming to model for her and the ending was much nicer than I thought it was going to be from how he was confessing all his feelings to her uncrackable facade.

They totally fucked after the one-shot tho. For realsies.

Dead Dead Demon's Dededededestruction 47

Man, I think the point of this manga really is that nobody is blameless and everyone are just jerks. Like, we get disgusted at the human government for using the aliens as a way to politically gameplay and throw the budget into military spending that gives them dividends and does nothing for the populace. But then the invaders actually did come here to invade and take over. Turns out they were just shit at it. But once they couldn't invade, they get mercilessly slaughtered. And the biggest piece of shit killing them on the ground is doing it because someone he cared about was killed due to the aliens...or rather due to the alien craft crashing into her...or rather due to the fact that government shot down an alien craft and it crashed into her.

Like nobody is a good person in this manga. No one deserves what happens to them and everyone just takes everything too far.

God, Asano really is a master. I honestly at this point put him on the upper echelon of mangaka.

Tsukuyote New Saga 37+38

More proof that lizardmen enhance any manga that they are in.

The Promised Neverland ch. 31

That last panel of Emma is hype. Unleash the fuckery, girl.

What Isabella said about one of the necessary steps to becoming a Mama - giving birth yourself - is kind of wild, and raises a ton of questions, but in particular it makes me wonder about her kid. Doubt it'll turn out her baby was just some random snack for the demons.

Tokyo Ghoul:re 117

That last panel slayed me.

Anyways, the erratic pace of this manga throws me off sometimes.

Animated Touta-nii looks awesome...no Santa is concerning.

The optimistic side of me is that its just one cour and they won't get there/two cour but with an extended Negima recap/retcon (of the two prior anime) and that we simply don't get there this season.

The cynical side of me is that they'll fuck this adaptation up like they fucked both Negima anime.

Tomo-chan wa Onna no ko! ch528

She doesn't seem upset about the tripping at least.

Their Story ch126

Appearances can be deceiving.

Flying Witch ch32

Quite a stressful job, if mere oversleeping can have such consequences.

Swap ⇔ Swap ch20

There's almost as much eating as there's kissing. They should be a little more imaginative. *hints hints*

Yuzumori-san ch16

I can see why Yuzumori appreciates Mimika's company.

Toaru Ossan no VRMMO Katsudouki ch29

Shame it came to blows. I hope the Queen won't be punished too severely.

Rokudou no Onna-tachi ch10

Baby steps for now.

Should be good.

Does that mean we'll also see everyone's favorite Azami?

Who knows? The OVA is meant to be something of a preview/flash forward, so maybe we will.

Not too excited about Azami showing up though.

Aka Matsui is pretty hands on on the adaptation, and even asked that the old Negima cast come back. So the chances of it fucked up is not that high.

The question is if it catches on.

I read through all of Tokyo Ghoul: Re up to the current stuff recently to give it another chance and while my opinion of it is much better, it still drops the ball a fucking lot and frustrates me a ton. I'll have to get my thoughts together some other time but a big glaring flaw is Furuta is such a fucking shit villain and character.

As long as they don't somehow suddenly crash in popularity, do Hungry Marie and Laserbeam have an advantage in sticking around since both authors previously had long-running series in Jump?

Right now there's so many holes in Jump's lineup that I think even the bad ones might be able to stick around longer if subsequent new series also bomb

Past success didnt seem to protect works such as Gakkyuu Hotei (Obata - artist), Illegal Rare (Nura), or Kagamigami (Psyren) from ending before their debut year ended.

Hopefully Matsui and Komi are back in after the next round of cancellations. It's been almost a year since Assassination Classroom ended

Depends on how they sell and how well they survey. If they sell poorly and survey badly they won't be protected long-term (as DTL points out).

I'm sure it protects them short term. When his the next new batch of series anyway? in 2-3 months? In spring with the new Kenshin arc?

Well, yes, that was the meaning of my "as long as they don't crash in popularity" qualifier. Basically I was trying to ask "all other factors equal, would their authors' previous experience give them the edge if Jump was looking to axe something from the group?"

Skyclaw (One-shot) - Weekly Shonen Jump

This was rough but quite interesting. It's very tropey, but the setting is cool and works. Apparently the mangaka is only 17, so I expect that with some refining we'll eventually see this serialized in time.

I always wanted to see a Pro Wrestling-style manga (behind the kayfabe) but with actual superpowers

It probably gives them a slight survival edge over the other manga's when other factors (rankings and vol 1 sales) are generally equal. Maybe an extra or half a extra axing round of survival at most though if things don't get better.
