I mean, he still is. As long as he isn't signed to a major label, he is still independent.

Frank is independent and yet he still took Apple's money in exchange for "Blonde" exclusivity, "Chanel", and a radio show. Fuck, if I were in that situation too, I'd sure as hell take $500,000 for two weeks of exclusivity before I released the damn thing for free too. I mean, if you feel so inclined, you can now download "Coloring Book" on DatPiff.

My point is, Chance made a business decision that keeps him independent, helps him make back some of the cash he spent on "Coloring Book", and gives him something to spend on his future album. It's not a bad deal at all.
Chanel came out on Spotify the same night and Frank uploads Blonded radio to spotify right when it airs on AM.

Huh, I didn't know that. Good on you, Frank.

But I think my point still stands. Chance is just as independent as Frank, it doesn't matter if he took Apple's cash or not. He still did what he said he would do with "Coloring Book".

How do you guys generally feel about Ross?

I think he's a great rapper but his story telling is hit or miss, mainly due to how its mostly braggadocios fake stories that I know never happened but just sound cool. Authenticity isn't something that's needed entirely for a rapper but I'd like most of the stories to be grounded in some sort of reality.

Man, listened to JEFFERY again for the first time in a while and Thugga's delivery on Harambe is still insane.

New Rozay starts smooth. He just works these soulful beats.

Never really followed him much and especially didn't like the era where he rapped on throwaway Lex Luthor beats, but bumping his Black Dollar mixtape (which is much better than the Black Market album) made me realize he's actually a pretty good rapper (the way he pronounces words is cool, like, how he stretches/emphasizes them).

Just finished the ross album, fairly fiyah surprisingly. I only didn't like one track or so.
Almost through. The one with Thugga is weak, Dead Presidents shouldn't have been on there (that's that 2010 Lex Luthor shit I was talking about in my last post), and the one after that with Gucci is wack too :/ Outside of those it's good. Basically I just wanted him on these dope, soulful beats. What the hell is that beat on the track with Nas, though? Super boring.

The beat with the the Nas track did not seem to fit Nas too much but it was aight.

First 3 tracks on that new Ross album are pretty good.

He's pretty easy to listen to. He's got an ear for good beats to rap over. And you've got to give it to Ross, after 50 went at him hard and tried to finish him, here Ross is with a career still going and a 9th album.

I suppose after a successful 10 years in the rap game some of his lavish living stories have some merit.

This new album is pretty good. Much more laid back than his other albums. I do enjoy a hype Rock Ross track but these mellow tunes on this album are still good.

Listened to Jeffrey twice this week. Still my AOTY 2016.

Yeah, Jeffrey was my album of the year 2016 too. My favourite track was 'Floyd Mayweather'. Played that on repeat constantly. Shame Thugga never put a video out for that track.

Talented writer/rapper that makes the same material again and again in a non-interesting way.

With all of those features you could easily mistake this for a new Kanye album

This Ross album is something. Dead Presidents would be an insanely flat record even if it came out six years ago, but it's impressive that something this phoned in made an album in 2017.

I refuse to believe that that Gorillaz leak is legit. Vince, Pusha and Danny sound amazing. I just don't want to be disappointed.
