What is Bloodborne 2?

lol come on now. I don't think the game needs a sequel, but I wouldn't turn down one.

Oh yeah I'd still play it, I just don't like the way a certain weird subset of people have become completely obsessed with the idea and convinced themselves it's happening.

This is me. I finished BB and had legitimately no idea what happened. I liked filling in the little threads I was aware of, because honestly the half finished story in my head was more interesting than the more explicit story people described after reaplying however many times.

Honestly, I dont think anyone is supposed to understand the whole story. You pick up whatever threads you find interesting and make up the story as you go, so everyone has a slightly different story in their head while playing.

That said I do wish the general plot was more explicit, even something as open as Shadow of the Colossus at least made the goal clear.

The gameplay was so tight and fantastic it wasn't even a concern to me.

That really is a terrific logo.

Locked 30 fps without frame-pacing issues. I have been playing it between Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda BOTW today and it feels a bit syrupy.

Question time. Why does you're character, probably an non-local, know what pale blood is and why are they looking for it?

That's a legitimate and incredibly vague question that a sequel can clear up anything from spies from rival cities to pthurmian time travellers I don't care I'd just love it to have an answer to that question. It'd be nice to have a souls game that actually give you a greater sense of a region rather than dumping you in one locale and giving passing hints to the greater world around you.

I get why people want a second game but all of the endings for the game... without going into spoilers... well it doesnt lend too well to a sequel without going some cheesy route(which they went for the more bold routes)

For a second I thought I had missed some announcement.

What a beautiful idea for the Bloodborne II title.

I think we will see a second Bloodborne. I don't think it's necessary, but I think they made enough on the first one and Sony will probably want something to close out the PS4Pro's lifetime.

Whatever From wants to make I am in for. I would be fine if there was a sequel or not. I do agree OP that Bloodborne is fine the way it is (other than a pro patch) but I wont be complaining about a sequel.

Why would the sequel need to have a million improvements? Why not just be happy with more of the same greatness?

An entire game of Chalice Dungeons.

In all seriousness, I'd rather see different takes on the BloodSouls formula with different settings. A futuristic adventure set on a dying planet or a space colony, floating through the vast uncaring vacuum of space. A post-apocalyptic adventure set after a nuclear holocaust, like a FROM Fallout or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The possibilities for new, original games with the FROM Software touch are limitless.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
You go full cosmic horror sci-fi souls. Clones born from blood vats each time you die on a crashed colony ship that (Event Horizon style) flew too close to some Lovecraftian hellscapes. Runes seared into you by savage automated tattoo units, some cosmic sized spider thing sexually abusing a moon, sparking electric rod weapons.

You're not the chosen undead, bearer of the old blood or any such mysticism. Science cracked the genetic code of the old ones and those clone vats are gonna keep remaking you until you avenge the end of all humanity.

Bloodborne's narrative and lore is so perfectly self-contained and ambiguous I'd actually be kind of mad if they did a sequel

I want to be surprised by FROM again. New setting, new themes, same winning gameplay.

I'm with OP in thinking Bloodborne 2 is unnecessary
Sure, if we get a new IP instead --
and hopefully not happening.
What? No, I'd still love it. Bloodborne is a fantastic game, with a few minor flaws that, if polished, could make a pretty much perfect game and --

It's just a fantasy of obsessive Sony stans who feel possessive of From Software because of the good exclusives they've done.
....Oh.

Yeah. OK. e_e

Ah, now it makes sense why there is no Bloodborne 2.
Blood gem system kind of sucked (but had potential)
No cancellable gestures
Not enough invasions
Wonky multiplayer system in general
Chalice dungeons could have a lot of improvement
Could have used more refined/deeper RPG mechanics
Less diversity of environments than Souls games
Some areas felt weak and unfinished (e.g. Byrgenwerth)

I love BB to death and those are all very very minor flaws, mind. But if BB2 improved on all of that... ohhhh boy. O_O

All I would want out of Bloodborne 2 would be a fixed frame buffer so frames are delivered at 33ms instead of the erratic frame pacing Bloodborne has.

Honestly Bloodborne 2 will be like how Dark Souls 3 is to the DS franchise: kinda the same time with different tweaks, cool bosses, and ultimately, a game that does the same thing well enough to be fun without being somewhat of a repeat.

I have a billion ideas for an Ape Escape reboot, Dino Crisis reboot, and Medievil, but Bloodborne is legit the most "complete" game Ive played that there is zero reason for a sequel

More of the same.
I'll leave the lore up to Miyazaki, doesn't even have to be connected to Yharnam. Would be a shame if they abandon the IP now that it's on everyones lips in this era of where making name for your IP matters so much.

You wouldn't want to see a refinement of mechanics? Better performance? New environments? More melee weapons?

There are certainly reasons for the sequel ($$$).

No, no, no, and no. Because I dont think there is nearly enough "room for improvement" compared to tons of other series.

I feel like From Software and Miyazaki are at the point where they are the names instead of their games. Each of the games theyve relased in the past 10 years has gotten critical acclaim.

I think its safe to say all you have to do is slap a FROM SOFTWARE/Hidetaka Miyazaki or from the creator of Dark Souls/Bloodborne on a trailer and the game will do well.

They need to keep going with new themes, and settings to avoid their game becoming too stale. Eventually they will also have to shake up the combat formula, but they arent at that point yet. Its telling how their most beloved games are Demons->Dark 1->Bloodborne.

I don't think this is correct and I also think you'll end up sorely disappointed by getting a minor refined sequel ala DS3.

There is literally too much demand for a sequel to this game for someone to not be pushing for it on a business side or perhaps a new franchise ala how Demons spawned the multiplats Dark Souls. I agree that BB was complete and doesn't need a sequel, but I will do backhandsprings if one comes. There are dozens of people hyped for an armored core , but a sci fi souls or a BB sequel would be very welcome even if Miyazaki has stated artistically he wants to explore "not souls" if I recall.

People kind of said the same thing from DS1 but that's not true considerijg DS3 managed to refine the game enough to be VERY enjoyable in a different way (faster gameplay). The only point people held against DS1 was basically the "weaker 2nd half" yet they managed to change the gameplay a lot

If From Software doesn't make another Dark Souls, Bloodborne, or Souls-type game then that is a really bad business move. These games sell very well, review very well, and have a very strong fan following. Hell, these games have basically created their own genre.
