Rocket League |OT2| I'd Rather Watch The EUROS Than Play

i am officially done with crates. my luck is astronomically bad with them. money is better spent trading crates --> keys --> for the few items i actually want vs hoping to strike gold. it just doesn't happen for me and is a waste of $$$

I got lucky with the crates - bought 10 keys at the very start, and got two Black Market decals which I traded off for a bunch of stuff. After watching everyone suffer in this thread, I don't think I'll chance it ever again though.

I've spent $50 on Keys and have over 130 keys worth of items/keys as of now. When I stopped opening crates and started selling them and working the market things looked up. But for a long while trading became a passionate hobby and I would spent all day in Discords, Reddit and trade sites. It was fun but time consuming. Happy with what I have now though.

The crate system has been kind to me and I still hate it. I've bought about 50 keys total as well, but right now I'm sitting on a nice little stock of Heatwave, Crimson/Pink/Purple/FG Ara 51's, almost a full painted Voltaic collection, (no crimson or FG) and have 30 keys just sitting around.

However, what makes me hate it is what I encounter when trading. I'm generally pretty good with the prices and only pay when I find a good deal. Despite this, I'll often find rather suspect inventories. These people are typically bad traders and are easy to hardball into the price you're willing to pay which makes me even more suspicious. After wrangling out the price they often feel the need to show you their INV, consisting of multiples of each BM, every painted wheel and about 5 set of white Zomba and Crimson Volts. I'm not sure why, perhaps to make you curious if you let them scam you. Ironically the last one let me walk away with Pink Striker ARA for 4 keys so I'd argue he got played.

But this brings me to my point, These guys have massive inventories but crumble when somebody knows how to actually haggle the right way without being a dick about it. It makes me wonder how the hell they acquired such items while being a bad haggler. Obviously the go to is, scammer, at least that's what I suspect, and that anyone with their wits is too hard a target for them. But by extension, basically leaves the price of crimson Volts and white Zombas so high because scammers are hoarding them en masse and asking massive overpay for them. They could always have paid their way there but that seems an awful dumb thing to do in the hopes of profit when you can't haggle for shit.

It's weird for me because I can deal with these people easily, but seeing them out there irks me, knowing prices are gouged because of this stuff, because I know how many naive kids could have lost items to people like these. It makes trading feel like a dirty practice each time I run into one and it brings it down for me.

That's why I don't like trading for this game. I got into it a little bit in Team Fortress 2 because it was so easy and the prices were so well-defined. The economy made way more sense.

Plus, Rocket League players can read a post about how you want to trade X for Y and they immediately add you, wait until you're in-game and ready to trade, and then message you with, "Oh actually I was hoping you'd trade X for Z."

We are taking a look at Starbase for a future update.

Excellent! I sometimes have trouble finding the ball on that map. Otherwise, I really enjoy it.

And thanks for the reply on reddit. Appreciate the really well thought-out answer, though it might be kind of hidden due to the way reddit collapses reply trees.

Niceeee I enjoy all of the maps but my teammates are so terrible at Neo Tokyo/Wasteland/Starbase so I'd be happy not to play any of them in a ranked playlist again.

The ball isn't so much of a problem for me, but the ground is pretty hectic looking and I find it really hard to see the mini boosts as a result. But I do kinda like that map.

Me: Challenger Elite Div V, alright those blue wheels are mine, let's do this...

RL: 0-8, get rekt

Me: Okay.

Damn, dude, that's rough. I'm hovering around CED3 right now, trying to make a last little push for the blue wheels before next week.

I have this rule for not tilting in competitive that might help you. I go in thinking I'll play five games. If at any point I lose three in a row, I leave that playlist. If I end on a three-game win streak, I play until I lose. Some nights I go 3-2 and I end up +1, some nights 2-3, etc. Makes the climb a little slower, but it avoids those massive losing streaks we all run into here and there.

Yeah, I should have stopped after 3 losses in a row, but then I just said fuck it and kept going. But now I'm taking the same approach as you and trying to win until I lose 2 or 3 and then bail out until another time. It's agonizing, but there's still time.

I knew there are some people that get salty when you bump or destroy them, I met a lot of them, but I didn't know some people are raging when you steal all the boost, lol. Some guy called me "sucker of boost" today. I thought when you get into blues it is considered a standard tactic.
I ended up bumping and destroying him to get the goal, boost starving him to get another and a few kickoff goals. It's like the perfect salt trifecta, and boy, did he get salty :D

You should have seen the guy I ran into a few days ago. After the third time of creating an easy goal by nudging him from his keeper position he just lost it. Spent the next minute and a half just raging in the chat and finally left at the end. Next game I land with him again and he just spent the next 5 minutes getting angrier and didn't even try to play. I wasn't even responding either, the guy was literally arguing with himself. But bumping has become a major part of my play style and it's a legit part of the game. I always complement a well timed bump on me personally.

why are there so many AIs these days?

nobody playing anymore ?

I've gone entire matches without AIs getting replaced

is it related to the crossplay error

Doubles, teammate disconnects at 1-1, about 4 minutes left.

I get the score to 6-3 all by myself. I'm in the zone.

Opponents score 4 goals in the last 30 seconds.

Literally 80% of the doubles matches I've played today have had a smurf on the other side. I shouldn't have waited until the last week of the season to git gud

If anyone wants to trade i have Breakout Distortion, Spiralis wheels, proton and a few other things.

Looking for skins for the Octane ZSR and Takumi RX-T.

My new rule: Leave a playlist after one loss.

Well, my session was pretty short. I lost one match in Doubles, Solo and Standard. That's it for today.

When it comes to unranked, I don't understand the point of it putting you in a game where it's 5-0 with a minute left. You end up alone with a bot, the game ends, and the other people leave. So you're right where you started and it was all pointless.

^^^^ yeah I don't get it. I don't really care if I win or lose in unranked as I use it for warming up / casual play BUT a minute or less it should just stay a bot for the remainder of the game. It would be different if people re-upped but 90% of the time the other players leave and you've just wasted time that could have spent in a more competitive longer game.

Wow! It's 2:2 and teammate leaves the match in Ranked Doubles. A 1v2, very nice. I score a goal, 3:2. Opponents equalize, 3:3. Overtime. One of them bumps me and they get an easy goal. F*** y**. They must be really proud of themselves.

I hope the new tier system fixes the inaccuracy in solo 3 C3. You play with people who can't block a head on shot while you play against a person who air rolls up just to ever so slightly touch the ball with the back of his car to get it on goal.
I doubt it but one can dream.

how much fun can a solo player have in this game? is 1v1 decent, and/or is it possible to have fun solo-queuing 3v3? i've had it since it was free on ps+, but i've always been hesitant to jump in with the skill level people probably have by now.

it will match you with people of similar skill, so if you start you will be placed in the bottom tier, from there you can learn the game, progress up and face better opponents.

e: while I queue mostly solo I don't play 1v1 because I don't like it, still have tons of fun with the other modes, it's personal preference really.

Been there and it's part of the game. If you get gifted a man advantage you still need to play to win and bumping is a smart play. If up by several goals then by all means be a good sport and have one guy play 1v1 but it's OT. You just gotta GG those and move on to the next game but yeah it sucks.

A ton of fun. As Bollocks said you will be matched with other people of your skill level which will be zero at the start. You will run into some smurfs but not enough to ruin the enjoyment of the game. As you get good you may have less fun due to uneven matchmaking at times BUT if you remind yourself it's just a game and focus on having fun and making the best plays you can you will likely find yourself becoming an addict XD

That moment when you realize your random teammate can't even score a Rookie Striker goal.

And then in the next game when they are on the opposing team and do a 180 and play like a God... oye!

Nah, it's a dick move in a 1v2. They already had an advantage, but they got scared and knew that they could lose this match and embarrass themselves.
I'll never GG players like these(+I can't because my chat is set to Team Only). No fairness whatsoever.

It's not their fault your partner quit. Of course they should bump you in a tied game. They want to win, too.

Bumping and demolitions make some people so salty but they're such an integral mechanic.

I don't care for bumping in any other situation. You can bump me all you want 24/7 in every galaxy you like, but if you already have an advantage by being two against one you should show some fairness and not do anything like this.

While we're on bumps, what's your favourite bump? I'm not big on demo's since you have to take the respawn timer into account, but I love a good multi bump, if you can get them sideways you can usually get a good few in I find, but my personal favourite has got to be when you manage to get just underneath them as they jump and flip into them hurling them across the map.

Few things are as satisfying as getting a half volley on your opponent.

I'd be willing to help you guys out and get those wheels if you still haven't made it yet (providing its XB1/PS4 as I cannot set up my PC yet as intended, arrgh).

Tbf it's extremely easy to say your teammate is at fault for not reading your mind

it's really easy to improve over time as long as your rotations are solid

No going for ball when nearest at kick-off, ignoring ball heading to goal because got a boost addition to refill, tackling own teammates when it clear they making a play. Hitting it every direction they can even when clearly a bad idea.

This does not require mind reading, but unless you party with someone you'll never escape because for every win you'll get paired with someone who types"Trade?" while a ball slowly rolls past him into goal.
